I just had my fifth cup of coffee today and I'm still watching a movie on my laptop. Aunt Jenny walk out of the bedroom with a towel wrapped around her neck.
"Morning kiddo. You up early today, " she said, ruffling my hair.
"Morning. I haven't sleep yet. Well, I can't sleep actually, " I replied, yawning.
She went over to the other side of the counter to get herself a cup of coffee. "Mind if I take some?" she said, pointing to the coffee maker.
I waved at her. "Nah, take as much as you like Mama Jenn, " I called her that sometimes to annoy her because she hates it when I called her that.
She rolled her eyes at me. "So, are you still up for fishing today?" She asked, sipping on her coffee. "Or are you gonna sleep in the entire morning?" she added.
"Of course I am. Besides, I'm not sleepy, so it'll be okay. I'll be sure to join you guys, " I reply, with a convincing tone. "Where's mom? Is she still sleeping?" I asked.
"I think so. Let me go and check up on her, " she said and left me in the kitchen.
{Jenny's POV}
I left the kitchen and went back to the bedroom to check up on Megan. I knocked on the door.
"Knock...knock"
"Hey Meg, are you up?" I asked but she didn't reply to me so I turned the knob and open the door.
She's not in her bed. Then I thought, "maybe she's in the bathroom." I went to knock on the bathroom door to see if she's in there. I heard things are falling on the floor so I quickly swing the bathroom door opened.
"Megan, are you okay?" I panic. I saw her sitting on the floor.
She looked worried. Her stuff is scattered all over the floor and sink. "This is bad Jenn. I forgot to bring my medicines with me. What if I get sick?"
"Crap, " I muttered. "Why don't you just stay in bed today and I will tell Rylee that you sprained your ankle or something, " I said, trying to calm her down.
"She needs us. She needs me. I can't just bail out on you guys and let the two of you do things on your own. Besides, she'll get suspicious if she sees me walking fine, " Megan said, trying to massage her temple. "She can't know about my sickness. Not right now, " she added.
"Hmm...are you sure?" I asked. Trying to reassure her.
"Yes, " she replied.
"How about this, let us go back and take your medicines. Just tell Rylee that we need to buy some fishing equipment, " I said, trying to convince her.
"No, " she protested. "She'll want to follow us. You can help me to take my medicines tomorrow," she mumbled.
"I'm worried. Are you sure about this Meg?" I asked again.
She nodded. "Yes, Jenn. I'll be fine. Hopefully, " she let out a sigh. "Let just pray I don't get sick today."
~Back to Rylee point of view~
"What took them so long?" I mumbled. I got up from the chair and went towards her bedroom. When I reached the door, it was already open but no one's inside the room.
"Mom? Aunt Jenn? Are you guys in there?" I asked, knocking on the wide-opened door.
"Yes Ry, I'm in the bathroom with your mom. She slipped and I tried to help her up, " Aunt Jenny said.
I panicked and rushed into the bathroom. "Are you okay mom? Are you hurt?" a lot of her stuff was scattered on the floor.
I ran to her side and help her up to her feet. To my surprise, she's so light. When did my mom become this skinny?
"Oh, dear. I'm okay. You can let go of me now. Thank God Jenny made it just in time to catch me before I hit the floor hard, " she said.
"You should be careful. Let's just cancel our plans for today. You should get some rest, " I said. Holding her shoulder and bringing her back into the bedroom.
She shook her head. "We can't just cancel it. Besides, I'm fine okay, dear?"
I protested and put my arm across my chest as she sat down on the bed. "No way we're doing any of that today. You're staying in bed and rest and that's final, " I said, frowning.
"Yeah, she's right Meg. You should rest, " Aunt Jenny said, trying to defend me.
My mom looked sad and I kinda I feel bad about it. "Okay, how about this. We cancel fishing today. If you're feeling better, we can go hiking in the evening, " I said, smiling at her.
She just nodded and gave me a small smile.
I left the room first followed by Aunt Jenny behind. We arrived back at the kitchen. "Thanks, Aunt Jenn, " I said, turning my head over my shoulder to look at her.
"For what?" she asked.
"For always have our back. I can never get used to not have you around to help us out. I'm grateful and I'm sure mom is also grateful to have you on her side, " I replied, walking toward the chair I've been sitting on since last night.
"We're family Ry and that's what family do, " she said, hugging me from behind. "By the way, I need to get back to the city today to check up on my cafe. For the time being, just stay put and rest. We'll go hiking after I get back here. Is that okay?" she asked.
I nodded. "Sounds good, Mama Jenn." I replied, letting out a small chuckle.
She just rolled her eyes at me and head outside of the cabin for a fresh air.
