Chapter 34 - Chapter 32 (Jangras POV) Go! v3

I looked at all of the dragons that were around me for a little bit of some time, as I could tell that none of them were all too happy with what had just gone down. I could tell that, even though Lunk had said it was not against the rules, he felt like it was kind of cheap, and we still might have cheated him just a little bit.

I shook my head, as all that mattered to me, was that we had not broke the rules at all, but rather just fed off of their mistakes. I felt like that was not going to happen again, now that it was half time. I was sure that Lunk was going to have quite the stern talking to his team, even though a lot of it had been his own fault.

I heard the upset whispers of some of the dragons, as I saw them heading back to their own sides, so that they could go ahead and talk through what their plans were going to be for the 2nd half of the game. I wanted to feel bad for them, but at the same time, it kind of was their own fault.

I turned my head over to my team, as I then began to smile at them. I saw that a lot of them were a bit confused, and a little bit scared with all that had just gone down, but as soon as they saw the smile on my face, it began to light up the air quite a bit, as I saw many of them smile back at me.

It was crazy to me, as I felt like they were thinking just about the same thing as I was, as to the fact that not only had we scored a single point on that team, which had the clear unfair advantage, we were going in to half time with the lead. I saw many of them cheering each other on, which was a good sign that we had good morale.

If any thing, that might be the deciding factor on who won this game... It was clear that we had better morale, and the other team could not get along with each other, due to the fact that they could not decide who was going to be the main dragon on their team, and who was stronger than the other dragon.

That was how we had a chance... None of us were talking about any of us being stronger than one another. There were only happy faces on my side, and that was all that mattered. Even if we did not win, at least we showed that no matter how much we were against the walls, we would still have a chance, as long as we used the other teams mistakes against them.

It was beginning to make sense, as to why we even played this game in the first place, when ever we did our training. Socra had never given me a good response, as she had simply put it as such, 'you will find out what it is about at some point'. I felt like I was at that point.

We did not win wars because one team was stronger than the other... That was simply just a benefit... If you could not work together at all, than you were doomed to fail in the end. I closed my eyes, as I let out quite a bit of a sigh at the same time too, which I was glad that none of my team mates had heard.

As I stood there for a bit of some time, and I listened to the excited voices of the dragons on my team, I then heard a voice of another dragon speak up to me from right behind me. The dragon spoke in a bit of a quiet tone, so that only I, and the dragon that was nearest to me, could hear what it was that he had to say.

I opened my eyes, as I was a bit confused as to what was going on, as I then turned my head over to the dragon that was right behind me for some reason. I blinked a few times as well, as I saw the dragon that was in front of me, was simply just my long time friend, Kip.

I saw that he had quite the look of shock on his face, as he nodded to me at the same time too, seeing that he now had his attention on me. I nodded back to him as well, as I waited for him to continue to speak. After a little bit more time had passed, he finally did in fact do so, as I listened to hear what it was that he had to say to me.

"I was not expecting this... My team can not get along for the life of each other..." He began to say to me. I titled my head a little bit, as I was a bit confused as to why he had come over to me, to tell me that. I felt like perhaps Lunk had told him to come over and get in my head, as I knew that they were both good friends. It was kind of cheap of him, but I continued to listen as to what it was that Kip was saying to me any ways. "I have to give you a big congrats for this... Even if you do not win, you have showed us all some thing."

I looked at my friend for a bit of some time, as I kept my eyes squinted at him as well, which I could tell was kind of getting in his head. I kept my eyes like that on him for quite a bit of some time, as I then began to think on what it was that he had said to me just now, as I thought that he might not actually have been trying to get in to my head.

I think that he might have actually come over to me to give me a congrats on how we had done so far. I still could not be too sure, and I could not be too trusting on it. As even if he thought that we had shown some thing, as to the fact that we had managed to score on them, I was not sure if Lunk would think the same as me, and I felt that either way, he was going to go to Socra and tell her how this had gone down.

I also felt like she and my father might have planned this as well, as I could tell that Lunk was not acting the normal way as he did. He was being a bit rude, and a bit of an asshole, when he was typically a chill dragon, that did not try to get in to any other dragons business at all.

I shook my head, as I blinked a few times at the same time too, as I had forgot as to what was even going on in the first place. I saw my friend looking right at me, rather than be on his own side, which confused me quite a bit as well, as I then began to remember that this was in fact half time.

I squinted my eyes at my friend once again, as I tilted my head a little bit at the same time too. I saw him dip his head a bit low to the ground, which I no longer cared about, as I knew that I had wasted a fair amount of our half time with him getting in to my head, and thinking what felt to be useless thoughts on how it was that we could win this game.

I was just about to speak to him at the exact same time as well, when I heard the voice of another dragon speak up to him, from right beside me. I turned my head over to the dragon, a little bit confused as to who it was that had been listening to this. I realized that it was Penta, as I had nearly forgot that she had even been here in the first place.

I blinked a few times, as I saw Kip lift his head up from the corner of my eyes at the exact same time as well, so that he could hear what it was that she had to say to him. I kind of smiled a little bit, as I too then listened to what it was that she had to say to him, at the exact same time as well.

"Kip... If you are so worried about your team, than maybe you should go back to your side, and help them... It isn't over yet..." She said, with her eyes squinted at him, just as I had been doing not too long before now. A smile managed to crack on my face, after what it was that she had just said to him, as I could not help but agree with her on that one.

It was rare now, for her to make me smile, but I felt as what she had just said to him, had been a fair bit funny to me. I could tell that it was not funny to Kip at all how ever, as he felt a little bit nervous, as he kept his head a little bit low to the ground, for just a little bit more time.

It was as if he had not heard what it was that she had just said to him, and I was actually starting to think at the same time too, that Lunk had in fact sent him over to us, that way he would distract us, and not give my team time to talk about our plans on what it was that we were going to do in the 2nd half of the game.

I looked far behind me, to see if Lunk was paying us any sort of attention, but I saw instead, that he had quite the not so happy look on his face, as he had his team huddled up with each other, as it was clear that he was far too distracted by the fact that he was talking to them, to give any sort of notice that Kip was on our side, which was against the rules to spy on the other team during half time.

Technically he was not spying on us, but he was still not supposed to be here, as I knew that Penta had quite the fair point with what it was that she had just said to him. I too began to squint my eyes at him as well, just as she was doing, as I could tell that he had noticed it as well, as he dipped his head a little bit lower.

He still did not move, such as Penta had just said for him to do how ever, as if he was stuck in place. I began to think that, perhaps it was not Lunk that had gave him the idea to come over here and distract us, but it might have been on his own plans for him to do so.

I hissed at my friend, as he really was starting to get on my nerves, which was kind of rare for him, as he lifted his head up at the exact same time as well, as I saw quite the apologetic look on his face, which I ignored at this point, as I began to speak to him, to make sure he knew what it was that he needed to be doing right now.

"I appreciate all that and all... But Penta is right... We need to talk to our team now, and you should be doing the same for your own..." I said to him, as I said it in the nicest way possible, though I was not happy at all right now. I could tell that I had a bit of a mean tone in my voice, which might not all be that bad, as it was clear that I had now proved my point to him.

He then nodded back to me, as I could tell that he was in fact nervous now, as it looked as if he thought that I might perhaps all of the sudden run at him, and attack him at the same time too, which did not make all that much sense at all to me, as I just shook my head, and I watched him head back to his own side, to join his team.

We still had a bit more time, luckily enough, as we had not wasted all of it. I did not need all too much time to talk to my team at the moment, besides changing up how it was that we were going to defend against the other team. I looked at Penta, and I nodded to her at the same time as well, to let her know that I was grateful for getting straight to the point on him.

She nodded back to me, with a bit of a blank look on her face, which seemed to be perfectly normal for her at this point. I looked away from her, as I did my best to not dwell on it too much, as me and her then began to head over to our team, who were still celebrating with one another, with Nink in the middle of all of it, as he had just scored his first goal.

It was a bit of a surprise to me, that it was in fact his first goal as well, as even if he was not exactly a strong dragon, he was one of the fastest in the tribe, as he was nearly as fast as I was. He was not as big as I was either, which you might think to be a bit of a disadvantage, but in a game such as this one, it helped him out quite a bit, as it made it hard for dragons to get any where near him.

I suppose, if I had to admit to it, the reason that he had not scored his first point before now, was due to the fact as to when he got to the middle of the circle, no one would let him have the branch. I felt a bit bad for it, but it did not matter all that much to me, as he scored this time.

I smiled, as I joined in with the rest of them in the little celebration, which I also knew I could not do for too much time, as I had to get straight to the point at the same time as well, to make sure that my team knew what the plans were going to be, when it came to the 2nd half of the game.

I stood there for a bit of some time, with a smile on my face, as it felt like it was my way of celebrating. I did not want to waste too much time how ever, as I then stepped in front of the crowd after a little while longer, to get all of attention on to me, which never seemed to be too hard.

The celebration seemed to end just as fast as it had started, as a few of the dragons were a little bit confused, until they saw that a lot of the other dragons eyes were on one thing in specific, which happened to be me in this case. I nodded to all of them, as I saw many of them nod right back to me as well, as they got ready to listen as to what it was that I had to say to them.

"Alright every one... We have the lead now, but we have to make sure that it stays that way..." I began to say, as I stopped my self at the exact same time as well. I had either forgot what it was that I was going to say, or I had not even thought on what it was that I was going to tell them in the first place.

I realized that it was the 2nd part that was correct in that one, as I remembered that Kip had come over and got my head off of the topic of what it was that I had planned on doing in the 2nd half of the game. I was kind of annoyed by it, even though I knew that he had not meant to cause any sort of harm by it, as he had only come to congratulate me.

I shook my head, as I knew that the only dragon I should blame in this case, was simply me, as I should have thought on all of this long before now. I suppose at the same time too, I could not blame my self for it too badly, as I the first half of the game had gone by very quick, and I had not exactly had the time to think all of this through.

I gulped a little bit, as I dipped my head a little bit low to the ground at the same time too. I knew it was quite a bad look for me, but I just was not so sure as to what it was that I should do, or what we were even doing in the first place any how. I blinked a few times, as I then began to realize that this was about our defense.

I knew that we had to make some changes, I just was not sure as to what those changes could be. I knew that we had a bit of an advantage as to the fact that they were bigger and stronger than us. My first idea was to think that we could have 2 dragons side by side to take down 1 dragon, but I realized at the same time too, that there were 6 of them, and that would put them in to 4 teams.

I shook my head, as I knew that it was a bad idea right away. I then thought about all 12 of us playing defense and trying to hold them off, but I was not sure if we would be able to do so for one, and I also was not sure if Lunk would count that as a win, if Socra was just calling the meeting.

Technically the game would have never ended if that was the case. I shook my head, as my brain kind of felt dead at the exact moment. I was not sure what to do, or what my plans should exactly be. I thought that maybe as well, we could have all 12 dragons attack, as we had the lead and we could just score quick if we needed to.

At the same time though, I also knew that it would be far too chaotic, and the other team was faster, and they could score even faster than us if they had a wide open lane. I let out a little bit of a sigh, as I was now at a loss for ideas, which was kind of a first for me, as I usually never had that happen to me hardly ever.

The sad fact of the matter was, that the other team had the unfair advantage, and I had to be as cautious as possible on how I was going to defend. I closed my eyes for a few moments, as I almost wanted to cry. Not only was I not sure how to defend, but I also was not sure how me, Penta, and Nink were even going to score again.

I am sure that Lunk was having a stern talking to with his team, to make sure that they did not let what had happened last time, happen again. I let out a bit of a soft sigh at the same time as well how ever, as I then opened my eyes, and I looked up at all of the dragons that were around me at the current moment in time.

I gulped a little bit, as I saw that all of their eyes were on me, and they were waiting for me to speak. Not just that, but they were also expecting me to lead them to victory as well, as I could tell that many of them were actually starting to believe that we had a chance in winning this game.

It was as if we had some how managed to switch our emotions on this, as I now felt the opposite, such as they had not too long before now. I shook my head how ever, as I was starting to think that maybe we did not need to make any sort of changes... Maybe we were fine as it was.

I turned my head to each one of the dragons that were all around me, as I was just about ready to speak up to them, and tell them what the plans were to try to win this game. That was at least, until I heard the voice of another dragon begin to step up and speak, which in this case, to my surprise, was Nink.

I turned my head over to him, as I tilted my head just a little bit at the exact same time as well, as I was a bit shocked, as to the fact that this was not normal for him, to step up in front of a big group of dragons, and speak to them, such as he was doing as of right now.

He was usually the quiet dragon in my old group of friends, as he typically did not seem to talk all that much. A lot of my friends did not even want him in our group, but I made sure to not let him out, as I knew that he needed friends, as he was a nice and sweet dragon that did not deserve to just be left alone.

I shook off those thoughts how ever, as I got back on the thought that he was even stepping up like this, to speak to so many dragons in the first place. I nodded to my long time friend, as I then began to listen to what it was that he had to say to all of us, with a bit of a smile on my face.

"I have an idea if I may..." He began to say to me, as he looked at me to see if it was okay for him to continue. I was a bit surprised by it, but at the same time too, I was open to any thing right now, as I did not really have a plan on how we could do this. I nodded for him to continue, as he nodded back to me, and then he turned his head to all of the other dragons that were around us, such as a leader would do, as he then continued where he had left off. "We have 5 dragons defending in the front, as that is where we stop them first and last... 3 in the middle, to catch any that managed to sneak through, and then 1 in the back, defend if you can, but first you need to warn every one else that a dragon is coming to the circle."

I looked at Nink for a few moments, as I thought through what it was that he had just said at the exact same time as well. I remembered how it was that they had scored the first time, as the ending had seemed to be just pure luck, but the fact that a dragon managed to get that far down, was the worry that needed to be addressed.

No one had a clue as to what it was that was going on, so Kota was just flying to the other side for a fair bit of some time. If we had some one to warn our team, than that would have never happened in the first place. All of that was kind of forgotten about, after the fact that we had quickly scored 2 more points right after that.

I smiled at Nink, as I saw a bit of a look of surprise on the face of Nink, as to the fact that I was happy with what it was that he had just said, as it was clear that I had thought that it was a good idea. I nodded to him, just to make sure that he knew it, as he dipped his head a bit low to the ground, with a smile on his face whilst doing so.

I shook my head, as I kept the grin on my face for a bit of some time, as I then looked back at all of the dragons that were on our team, as I saw many of them nodding to one another as well, as it was clear to me, that they thought it was a good idea of defending too.

I looked over at Penta, as I knew that she was the other attacker, and her she counted quite a bit in this decision as well. I saw that she had the same blank look as she had earlier on her face how ever, as I rolled my eyes as well, and I then looked back over to all of my team mates.

I let out a bit of a soft sigh, as I then nodded to all of them at the same time as well, as they once again went quiet, as it was clear that they knew that I was about to speak to them. It was kind of crazy to me as well, as I would have never thought that I would be this much of a leader to all of these dragons.

I suppose that I should have seen it coming, as some day soon, I would soon be the deputy of the tribe, as I knew that Socra was not getting any younger, as well as the fact that we were about to be in a big war, that could mean that a lot more dragons were about to lose their lives in it.

I looked at all of these dragons with a bit of a sad look on my face, at the thought of that, as I knew that many of them were going to die in this war. I felt like a leader now, as at first I had never really thought on that. I now realized that the life of any dragon in this tribe, was a special, and important life.

I had a bit of a sad smile on my face, as I looked at all of the dragons that were in front of me. I could tell that a lot of them were confused as to what was going on, which I did not blame them for at all, as they had not a clue as to what was going on in my head, and even if they did, they would not understand it at all either.

I shook my head, as I shook off all of those thoughts at the same time as well. I knew that was for the future, and I needed to be focused on the present right now, and what was going on all around me, and why there were so many dragons staring at me for some reason or another.

I then realized as to why at the same time as well, as I remembered that we were playing a game of capture the branch, but not only that, we were playing with a very unfair disadvantage as well. It woke me up, as I then also remembered what it was that Nink had just said too, as I began to speak to all of the dragons.

"Well... That is it then... That is the plan... You guys talk to each other about where to go, we are probably out of time now..." I said to all of them, as I then turned my head over to the other side of the clearing at the same time as well, seeing that I saw that Lunk was no longer in the small little circle that he had been huddled in earlier.

I saw that his entire team was getting ready, and setting up for the 2nd half of the game. It did not seem to me that he had changed up the lineup at all, as I saw that they were still doing 6 on 6, with the same players on offense and defense. I was a bit confused by it, as it did not seem like they had changed their game plan at all.

I knew that was not the case at all how ever, as I knew that Lunk was an insanely smart dragon, and he had drawn up some sort of plan, or at least made sure that his team knew that they had to be paying attention as to what was going on at all times, which kind of felt a bit hypocritical of him at the same time as well.

He was the one that had distracted all of them, so that none of them had their eyes on us 3 attackers. He had admitted to it as well, so I was sure that was not the case at all. I shook my head, as I then looked over at my team, just to make sure that they were getting ready themselves, as to what they were going to do in the 2nd half.

I saw that all of them were getting lined up for it as well, as I was happy to see that it did not take long to agree on who was going to go where. I nodded to my self, with a little bit of a smile on my face, as I looked over to Penta and Nink, to make sure that they were going to follow me all the way to the middle of the field, to start the 2nd half of the game.

We had the advantage right now, if you wanted to call it that at least. This was our chance, and after what Nink had said not too long before now, I was beginning to start to think that we might have an actual chance to come out of this on top. I smiled as I began to walk over to the middle.

I saw that Lunk seemed to be a bit taken a back by that as well, as he seemed to hesitate just a bit, as he then shook it off after a little while longer, and he smiled right back at me. I kind of shivered just a little bit, as I was a bit afraid as to what it was that he had planned on doing.

I shook off those thoughts, as I was sure that he was not expecting our changes on defense at the same time too. I kind of wished that I had offered them ideas for defense long before this, as I was always certain that there was going to be some sort of idea that had flown out of my radar.

I blinked a few times, as I then heard the voice of Penta, as she began to speak up to me, from not too far behind me either. I turned my head over to her, as I then squinted my eyes at her at the same time as well for some odd reason or another, as I listened to hear what it was that she had to say to me as well.

"So... Do we have plans ourselves, on how we are going to attack? I do not think that what happened last time is going to happen again." She said to me, as I nodded to her at the same time too, to let her know that I had heard what it was that she had said to me. I stopped my self at the same time as well, as I thought about what it was that I was going to say back to her.

I also stopped my self as well, as I did not want Lunk to be able to hear what it was that I had to say either. To be completely honest how ever, I still was not sure as to what it was that I even had planned for us to do, to go on attack with, as I knew either Nink or Penta was going to say some thing about it at some point, but I still had failed to think of an idea.

I looked at her for a little bit of some time as well, as I saw her squinting her eyes at me. It was clear that she knew me very well, as we had been close friends long before this, before the fight that we had with one another as well, which I still regretted to this day, that it had ever happened.

She knew that I did not have a plan, as I saw her roll her eyes at me, as she shook her head at me as well. I blinked a few times, as I felt like I had a bit of a brain fart at the moment. I saw from the corner of my eye as well, that Nink was a bit confused, as he was waiting for me to speak as well.

I gulped just a little bit, as it felt like it was a lot of pressure put on me all at once, as I was not sure as to what it was that I should say. I knew that I could not think of some thing off of the top of my head, as it might make me look like an idiot, or even worse, they might think that I had an actual idea that could even work.

I looked at Penta how ever, as I nodded to her at the same time too, as she still had her eyes squinted at me, as she still was clearly not sure if I actually had a plan. Neither was I, but I at least had a bit of an idea of how we were going to plan this, as I then began to speak up to the both of them.

"I don't exactly have a plan yet... I want to see what their plan is first, that way we can think of a counter attack. So first we are going to do what we did earlier, that way I can see what their plan was to defend... Who knows, maybe we get lucky..." I said to them, as I shrugged my shoulders at the end of it as well.

I felt like quite the idiot for adding that on at the end, as I knew that we were not going to get lucky again, like we had earlier. There was 3 of us, and if you had to ask me, I was fairly damn certain that we were not going to get even close to the circle now. I looked at the both of them as well, as I could tell that neither of them believed that we were going to get lucky.

At the very least how ever, it was clear that the both of them thought that my idea could be a good one. We had a bit of time as well, as they still had to score 2 points, while we only had to score 1. While I might have thought of that idea off of the fly, I still felt like it could perhaps be a good idea.

I looked at the both of them for a little while longer, as I could tell that they were both thinking through all of it in the head at the moment. I nodded to the both of them, to get their attention at the same time as well, as I knew that Lunk was patiently waiting for us to join him at the middle.

Both of them nodded back to me, as I let out a bit of a sigh of relief, that I had not made my self look too foolish. They followed my to the middle too, as I saw that Lunk had his eyes squinted at me, as he had the same smirk on his face, that I had seen before all of this had started.

This time I could tell how ever, that the smirk did not seem to be a genuine smirk at all, as it looked more like a smirk that was natural to him, to make sure that no other dragon thought that he was afraid. I knew why he would be afraid as well, as if he lost this some how, he would be made fun of for a long time.

I grinned back at him how ever, which to my surprise did not seem to get in to his head at all, as he then nodded to me, and then he began to speak up loudly, so that every dragon in the clearing could hear what it was that he had to say. I nodded back to him, as I then listened to what it was that he had to say to all of us as well.

"Is every one ready?" He said to all of the dragons around us, as I saw him look at his team and squint his eyes at them. They all nodded to him, as he turned his head back over to our side, and then he put his body a bit low, as he yelled louder than before. "Go!"
