I stared in front of me, with a bit of a blank look on my face for some odd reason or another, as if I had not actually heard what it was that all of these people that were in this crowd, had just said to me. I blinked a few times, as it certainly was a lot for me to take in all at the same time.
Never in my life, would I have thought that I would lead an army to fight off an entire species of dragons. Well, black dragons at least, though I still was not sure whether or not I should trust the red dragons, even if they too had been attacked by the black dragons, and lost many of lives just as all of us had.
I had been told time and time again, by John, that a lot of dragons were filled with lies and deceit. It was a lot of the reason that I still was not going to tell the red dragons as to where it was that they we were holed up at, even though I knew that if they had the intent to kill me, than they could have done so that very same day.
I shook my head at the same time as well, as I shook off the thoughts of all of the dragons, as that seemed to be often what my mind was cluttered with. How could you blame me for it? I had dreams of them just about every single night, usually where they made a lot of threats, which I wanted to say I could not take to seriously, but not too long ago they went through with those threats, and they still were to this day on this world, even if I was not around much to see any of it.
I got back on the thought as to why I was in fact so shocked, and a bit afraid at the same time as well, as to why there were so many people beneath me, cheering me on, and telling me that they all believed in me. Though it did crack a little bit of a smile on my face, I still could not help but to be a bit afraid that I had to lead all of this.
I let out quite the loud sigh, which I knew that thankfully no one had heard, or had seemed to notice at all at the same time either. I nodded to all of the people that were below me, as if it was my way of giving a thanks to all of them as well. Though it was quite a weak way of saying thanking you.
I blinked a few times, as there were so many thoughts racing through my head all at once. I was happy and all, but at the same time too, I still felt like I did not want to do this, and that I did not want to have all of this stress, on the fact that I would at some point have to lead this massive army into a battle against a bunch of dragons.
Even if this was a normal event, I would be scared out of my mind right now, as to the fact that I had to stand up and speak to so many people. I was sure that it was not a good look to John, or Travis none the less, as to the fact that I had my head held down low to the ground, and I had just closed my eyes.
I felt like the rest of the people in the crowd how ever did not seem to notice or to care either, as to that fact, as I was sure that even if they did have their eyes on me for some reason or another, than they would simply see me with my head a bit low to the ground, and a big smile on my face, as if I was telling my self that every thing was going to be fine, and this was all going to turn out great.
I was not sure about all of that how ever, though I was sure that was what many of them thought, I certainly did not feel that way my self at all. I breathed in heavily once again, as I could almost feel the fact that John and Travis both had their eyes locked on me right now, though I was sure that it was mainly John that I needed to worry about in this case.
Travis could see that I had my head a bit low to the ground, but I knew that John was a lot better at reading me than any one else was. Even better than Julia and my sister were in fact, and that was saying a lot, as I had known the both of them for the most of my life.
I shook my head, as I lifted my head up at the same time as well, looking over to John right away, to see the look on his face that he might be giving me. I turned my head over to where he had been at, as to my surprise how ever, I saw that John was no where to be seen at all.
I was a little bit confused by it, as I shook my head to shake off those thoughts. I blinked a few times, as I looked back at the crowd below me, as I saw that most of them were cheering each other on, and I saw a lot of dancing as well, as if this was some sort of tribal ceremony.
I grinned a little bit, as I almost felt like I wanted to join them, but I knew that I should not, as if I was going to be the leader, than that meant that I had to act like one, and not act as if I was some sort of little kid. I blinked a few times, as I shook off those thoughts, and all of the noise and the voices at the same time as well.
After a little bit longer, I let out a bit of a soft sigh, as it had seemed that while I had been doing all of that, and speaking to the legion and all, I had seemed to forget just how tired I had been, and how bad the sleep that I had been getting for almost 2 years now. I shook off all of those thoughts, as I turned my head over to where Travis had been earlier.
I figured if John had just straight up left me, he had been either disappointed, or he had been pleased, and he had felt like there had been nothing he needed to say further more. I did not think he would be disappointed at all how ever, if he actually had thought on the fact that I had just got the entire legion to cheer me on.
I lifted my head a bit low to the ground at same time as well how ever, as I also knew that there was a lot of things that felt like to him, that they were not good enough to satisfy him. I shook off those thoughts at the exact same time as well, as though I had my head dipped a little bit low, I saw that Travis had also moved from his spot just a little bit as well.
I lifted my head up this time, and I tilted it as well, as I was a little bit confused as to where every one had gone off to. Besides the people in the crowd of course, though I felt like they too might walk off not too long from now, as I could tell that a lot of people in the crowd really had not seemed to want to be there at first.
I looked around at the stage, as if that was going to help me any at all, as to my surprise at the same time too, it had in fact helped me, as I spotted Travis at the bottom of the steps up to the stage on the left side of me, where I had come up from not too long before all of this had even started in the first place.
Beside him as well, I also spotted John with him, as it seemed like to me, that they were having a little bit of a back and forth discussion. I blinked a couple of times as well, as I saw to my surprise for once, that it did not seem like they were bickering back and forth, nor were they arguing at all either.
It was a bit of a surprise to me, as it had felt like at times, that was all that they could seem to do. I knew that they were both good men, and they both had to same intent as the other did, which was of course to save the damn planet. It did not seem like they wanted to agree with a single thing how ever.
This time, at least so it seemed to me as well, that it looked like they might finally be agreeing with some thing, or at the very least too, that were having a civil discussion with one another. I let out a bit of a sigh, as normally when I saw them talking to one another, I did not want to budge them, or join in on them at all.
This time I felt just the opposite of that how ever, as I was just not too sure what to do at the moment, as I really did not want to stand on this stage any longer than I had to. It was clear that it was over, and I had said what it was that I had needed to say in the first place.
I just did not want any one to put their eyes back on me any longer, as if they thought that I was not done speaking, due to the fact that I was still on top of the podium. I did not want any more attention on me, as I felt like I had enough of that just a few second before all of this.
Though I felt like I clearly had said what it was that I had needed to say, it did not mean that I still wanted to talk to all of these people that were in the crowd still. I let out a bit of a soft sigh, as I then moved away from the quite big podium that I had been standing behind for a long time now, as I then began to walk over to where Travis and John stood at the stair way, talking to one another.
As I drew a little bit closer to the both of them, I began to slightly hear what it was that they were saying to one another, even though the crowd was very loud behind me, making it quite a bit hard for me to hear. I shook my head, as I listened to what it was that they were saying to one another, as I heard that Travis was talking at the current moment in time.
"I know we do not agree on all that much John, but I have to admit that you did a good job on this kid, and I have to take my hats off to congratulate you on that." He said to John, as I saw him nod to him at the exact same time as well. I was indeed quite a bit shocked with what it was that Travis had said to him just now too.
John did not seem to have any reaction, nor any emotion to what it was that Travis had just said to him. Though it seemed to be quite a bit normal for John to act like that, even win some one said some thing was a congrats such as in this case, or if it was some thing that made him either happy, or angry for that matter as well.
I could tell that it kind of got to the head of Travis as well, which was a bit of a surprise to him, as I would have thought that he would have been used to that at this point, as I was sure that he had been around John plenty of enough time, to realize that it was just a normal thing that John seemed to do to every one.
Though, it still some times got in to my own head, as I noticed that even the strongest of men fell victim to the blank glare in the eyes of John. I felt like I should feel bad for Travis as well, even if I did not like him all that much, as I could tell that it really was getting to him too.
I shook my head how ever, as I realized at the same time too, that the crowd behind me was dying down a bit, and I could almost feel them all staring at me on my back side. I shivered a little bit, as I began to walk a little bit closer to the both of them, that way I could get both of their attentions at the same time too.
As I drew closer to the both of them, I still saw that neither of them had noticed me at all, even though I was at most, perhaps a simple 10 meters away from the both of them. It made sense as to why Travis had not noticed me at all, as he had his head turned away from me, and would not be able to see me.
I felt like I was in at least the back ground view of the eyes of John at the very least. I knew at the same time as well, that he seemed to be always aware of his surroundings, and he paid full attention to me at all times too. I blinked a few times, as I just stopped my self, as I felt that if I drew any closer it might make things a little bit awkward.
I just stared at the both of them, with my eyes wide open for quite a bit of some time, as this time it felt like I was the one with the blank, and emotionless state of mind, rather than it be John. John continued to hold his eyes on Travis at the same time too, as he kept 5hat same blank look, as he began to speak back to Travis. I blinked a few times, as I listened to hear as to what it was that he had to say to Travis at the same time as well.
"His uncle raised me, and his father did not do the best job on him... Some one has to raise him... This world is a lot different than most people are used to." He said back to Travis, as it was most certainly not a thanks as to what it was that Travis had said to him a few moments ago.
It was clear that he at least acknowledged what it was that Travis had said to him. Which I could tell had made Travis feel at least a little bit better. I blinked a few times, as I shook my head at the same time as well, as I was still a little bit shocked by the fact that John had not noticed me at all just yet.
Just as I thought on all of those thoughts how ever, that was exactly when I saw John turn his head a little bit behind Travis, as he then nodded to me at the same time as well, as it was clear that he had noticed me all along, but he was just a little bit deep in to conversation with Travis, to at least let me know that he had in fact noticed me in the first place.
I let out a little bit of a soft sigh of relief at the same time too, which I almost felt at times, that John could hear me sigh, no matter how quiet it was, as I saw him squint his eyes at me. I felt like he at least knew that I had sighed at the very least, as it always seemed to bother him a little bit when I did.
I did my best to ignore the look on the face of John, that he was giving me at the same time too, as I saw Travis then nod, as I could tell that he felt a little bit bad for me, as it was clear that he had noticed as to the fact that John had his eyes squinted at me in the first place too.
I nodded back to Travis, as Travis looked back at John, as he squinted his eyes at John, as if it would do some thing, though it clearly did not. Travis then rolled his eyes, as he then turned hos head back over to me, and he locked his eyes with me at the same time too. After a little while longer as well, he then began to speak to me, as I then listened as to what it was that he has to say.
"You did a good job son... We are proud of you... Do not let the look on Johns face fool you." He said to me, as he looked back over at John once again. To my surprise as well, I saw a little bit of a smile pop up on the face of John, which came as a little bit of a surprise to me, as I did not hardly ever see that man smile. Travis turned his head back over to me, as he continued to speak to me after a little bit more time had passed. I blinked a few times, as I listened as to what it was that he had to say at the same time as well. "Now... Its time for me to go ahead and finish all of this..."
John rolled his eyes back at Travis, as it was quite a bit strange to me at the same time too, as it all of the sudden seemed to me, that they were acting as if they were best friends, or at the very least long term friends. I dipped my head a little bit, as I felt like I could at least have that feeling.
Maybe they had in fact been friends before the fact that John had taken over as the leader after the passing of my uncle, and Travis had taken over as the deputy. I felt like at times that I kind of doubted that, but at the same time as well, I also had to realize that I had not been here when the legion used to go and hunt for dragons.
I shook my head just a little bit, at the same time too, as I then lifted my head back up, as I knew that this was one of those times where I needed to be strong right now, or at the very least, pretend to be strong. I let out a little bit of a soft sigh as well, which thankfully enough, it did not seem that John had noticed at all this time.
I cracked a little bit of a smile, as I went back to looking at Travis, as I knew that he was the guy that I needed to be looking at in this situation, as I knew at this point, that it was not always about John, as there was an entire council full of people that were just as important as John was.
I did my best to try to remember all that Travis had just said to me, and all that was even going on around me in the first place. Once it all came back to me, it hit me like a bolt of lightning, as I then nodded to Travis, to let him know that I was about to speak to him. Travis stared at me for a few seconds, but in the end, he did in fact nod back to me, as I let out a little bit of a sigh of relief, as I began to speak to him.
"Thank you... I could not have done it with out all of you..." I said back to him, as I blinked a few times as well. I was not sure if there was very much for me to thank Travis for, as most of it had been John, and the council that I had spoken to, whilst I had been in that big tent with all of them.
Travis looked at me for a few moments, as I saw a little bit of a smile crack on to his face, which relieved a lot of my stress at the same time too. It made me feel better, to at least know that for perhaps the first time in my entire life, I was using my words almost to a little bit of some perfection.
Travis nodded to me once again, which I played the safe route, and I nodded back to him. Travis then blinked a few times, which I was a little bit confused as to why he might have done so. He stood there for a little bit of some time as well, as I then all of the sudden began to see him walk away from where he had been standing at, at the top of the steps with John.
I blinked a few times, a bit lost on what was going on, as I looked to John for some sort of answer, like it seemed as I always tended to do. John blinked a few times right back at me, and then he nodded back at me at the same time too. It was as if this was normal, and nothing strange was going on at all.
Maybe there was nothing going on, and I was just being a little bit of an idiot. I let out a little bit of a soft sigh at the same time too, as I then turned my head over to see what it was that Travis might even be doing in the first place. I blinked a few times, as I saw him walking up to the podium that I had been standing behind not too long before now.
That was when it all of the sudden came back to me, as it hit me all at once at the same time as well, as I saw now what it was that he was doing, as I felt like a little bit of an idiot for not realizing as to what it was that he had been doing before now. I blinked a few times, as I then turned my head around, over to the crowd, that I had almost forgotten was even here in the first place.
I was not sure as to how I had forgot that, or as to why for that matter, as it was clear that they were being as obnoxiously loud as ever before. It was clear as well, that I had been wrong with my initial thought that they were all staring at me, as most of them were just talking amongst them selves.
I let out a little bit of a sigh of relief, as I was just glad that I was no longer having to be in the spot light, which I always hated that when it did in fact happen. I looked at all of the people in the crowd, as I saw a lot of smiles, and a lot of people talking, as if this might be some sort of family gathering, rather than this be a meeting with a legion that was a part of an army.
I blinked a few times, as I looked at all of them for just a little bit longer, until I then heard a loud voice begin to speak from not too far away from me. I turned my head over to where it was that it had come from, as I was a bit confused for some odd reason or another, even though I knew that he had just told me in the first place, that he was about to finish off the gathering.
I still had a bit of a look on my face, that was clear that I was at a bit of a loss for words, as I had not a clue as to what was going on all around me, as it seemed to be going quite fast. I shook my head, as I did my best to just shake off all of those thoughts, as I kept my eyes on Travis at the same time as well, and I then listened as to what it was that he had to say to every one.
"Every one! May I please have your attention for a little bit?! I know how excited all of you are..." He began to say to all of the people that were in the crowd, to make sure that they had their full attention on him. I blinked a few times, as I turned my head over to them as well, just to make sure at the same time too. "That energy will soon where off how ever... If you want to talk, than do it in your tents... But I think you should all get some sleep... The meeting is done..."
I put my eyes on Travis for just a little bit of some time, as he seemed to be pleased with all of this, as it was clear that to him at the very least, that all of this had gone right. I blinked a few times too, as I then saw him begin to walk away from the podium, as it also was clear, that he was now done speaking to the entire audience.
I turned my head, and my eyes over to the crowd, as if I expected all of them to be looking at me once again, but it was clear to me that most of them were tired, and they just wanted to go back to their tents and sleep, rather than continue to speak to all of the other people that were with them in the large crowd of people.
I heard a bunch of moans and groans, as I saw that most of them were starting to walk away, back over to the section, as to where their tents were at. I blinked a few times, as I felt like they were lucky to go and get some good sleep, even if it was not on a comfy bed such as I had, they at least did not get to have those dreams, which for some reason, many people felt would be cool and fun.
I shook off all of those thoughts at the exact same time as well how ever, as I heard loud, almost what seemed to be, angry stomping walking down the stage that Travis had just spoken on. I blinked a few times, as I turned my head over to see as to who it was that was doing so in the first place.
To no surprise at all, I saw that it was John, as I also saw that he did not have too happy of a look on his face at the same time too. I looked over at Travis, a little bit confused, only to see that he was just as confused as I was. I blinked a few times, as I then focused my eyes on John, as he began to speak up loudly, to get his attention on the crowd, as I too joined in on the fact, so that I was able to hear, and listen as to what it was that he had to say to every one in the first place.
"We are not done yet every one! There is still one last thing I need to tell all of you!" He yelled loudly to every one, to make sure that they stopped walking over to their tents, so that they could go to sleep for the night. I saw the whole crowd turn their heads, as it was clear that they were just as confused as I was. I looked back over at John at the same time too, as I then heard him continue where it was that he had left off. "We have set up the groups, and divided them in to groups of 50... Our training begins tomorrow..."
