Chapter 32 - Grinding is not at all good

*punch*

A headless monster went poof leaving behind its edible core. Steve was back to the same forest hunting for the time of his life.

'Hunting alone is so fun'

Especially the monsters are so week!

Steve was smiling like a child. His joy was comparable to the kid who got a toy for the first time. Playing with it he grinned.

...

...

...

*A few hours later*

"Yawn," Steve was finding it hard not to yawn. As hordes of headless Drus attacked him all he could do was helplessly swing his arms.

They would anyway so why care about posture and stuff? Yes, these monsters were dying without Steve putting any strength in his arms.

"Is this the feeling you get when you grind in a beginner's area despite not being a beginner at all?"

*Yawn*

"Today I realized being weak or overpowered is never the problem! The problem is being in the wrong area. Seriously why did I even end up here?"

Steve's concern was genuine cause he was in the same forest he and Clair had crossed a day ago. "

The purple canopies, the purple timber. Ugh! Even the vines are purple! Purple is so boring!"

To know how he ended here we have to go through the events before him being teleported here.

"So you are the one causing the ruckus?"

A man holding a teacup in his hands said. After which he took a sip.

Probably about five feet and a half tall, and very thin with fair skin, this man has a troublesome feel about him.

He has mysterious dark purple eyes and his mid-back length, thick, dark blue hair is neatly braided.

He was wearing perfectly pressed, expensive clothes that are loose.

"What is this? Those freaks down there told me a sexy woman is waiting for me here. Who are you old man?"

Steve scratched his cheeks.

He spat all of the tea which he held in his mouth.

It showered like a fountain in from his mouth.

'To think my men will sell me out like this

For a while, the man wasn't able to speak anything because of the event that transpired.

There was silence in the room.

However, there was no awkward atmosphere.

Steve was staring daggers at him telling him as if he wants answers.

The man coughed purposely as if to indicate that he has something to say.

*cough*

"My men must have said that to get rid of your presence," said the man, "And so is for me, your very presence is unusual!"

"Is that so?" said Steve, "Well even I don't want to party with stinking adventurers. Give me that guild card and a mission and I am good to leave"

"Guild card?" Said the man "Why do you think I will accept u in my guild?"

"Cause you have to?"

"Haha! Do you think men at your strength just walk in and try to join a nameless guild? Even though you can join any of the families and gain money and fame? Tell me young man what body constitution do you possess?"

Steve remembered his talk with Clair. After defeating the marquise Alt Whitworth Clair had mentioned that his constitution was something like an Earth constitution or something. Since he fought tooth and nail with him and won shouldn't his constitution be the same?

"I am at Earth constitution!" He proclaimed with smug.

The man jolted his eyes open.

"Earth constitution I see. I realize that I had underestimated your strength"

'He is not something I can deal with alone' the man whispered to himself.

"Cut the chit chat old man, just give me the card and mission already" Steve sounded annoyed. He started rolling the pupils of his eyes without any rest.

"Who is your backer? Who sent you here? I believe he is someone normal"

The man believed that Steve wasn't working on his own. He seemed too immature and childish to do so. He must be working under someone, carrying out their orders.

Steve however seemed uninterested still rolling his pupils.

"Give me the card already"

He must be uninterested regarding the man at first but he was excited about the adventures he can go to now, the missions he would accomplish, and treasures he would discover, just like the leads in those scriptures he had read back on earth.

The old man was perturbed. He was staring at his eyes to figure out the young man in front of him but to no avail. If he could say anything it would be that the man in front of him seemed innocent free of any crimes. However, his experience from the years was telling him that this man was acting innocent to trap him. There was some kind of trap in the whole situation which he wasn't able to figure out.

But he knew he couldn't deal with this young man at the moment. And can't let him know that he was suspecting him.

"I guess if you had bad intentions you wouldn't have revealed your strength so easily"

Sigh.

Steve bit his tongue. He remembered the talk with Clair. He was supposed to remain low-key! And here he was foolishly revealing his strength.

He hasn't realized his mistake until the guild master pointed it out for him.

He racked his brains to come up with something.

"You shouldn't speak of my strength so casually. Isn't it the guild policy to never reveal information about its members? I hope you keep it a secret amongst us"

If Steve was honest he had no idea what the guild policies were. However, he had read a lot of scriptures before being summoned and in those scriptures, there were mentions of a lot of guilds. And most of the time these guilds had a policy of not revealing the status information of their members.

So he just made assumptions.

"Huh?"

The old man was confused but he decided to put that matter aside.

"Okay indeed. It will be a secret between us"
