Lucas stretched as he yawned, taking long strides to the bathroom. He didn't know what came over him yesterday, and he only got to find out this morning that he had been sleeping since yesterday afternoon.
His long eyelashes fluttered as he blinked, and he brought his hand to his forehead, his long and slender fingers massaging it slowly. He was undoubtedly blessed with the best of the male appearances, and under the morning sun, his face shone radiantly.
Thin eyebrows, brown eyes, long eyelashes, a pointed nose, tiny lips that had a dark shade of pink and an outlined jaw. Of course, it is incomplete without a pair of deep dimples. His look could gain an Oscar without even trying and when he smiled, it was enough for all the girls to fall at his knees.
He grabbed a towel and wrapped it around his waist before going downstairs for some coffee. Suddenly he heard some movements in the kitchen. At first, he thought it was the butler, but he remembered it was still the beginning of the month, moreover no one dared to enter his kitchen without his consent. Or was it a burglar?
With that, he took out a knife from his safety closet and sneaked to the kitchen. What greeted him was the back view of a lady, her frame was very thin and the slender hand that was dipping the noodles inside the water was very white, making her look almost ghostly. Or is it a ghost?
She must have come here to steal and upon seeing the noodles decided to eat first? He tried to convince himself with the lame excuse as he just couldn't wrap his head around the fact that a lady just appeared in his house out of the blue.
With two steps, he reached where she was and brought the hand that was holding the knife around her neck. When his fingers touched her skin, he couldn't help but admire how smooth it was.
…
Tasha was in the middle of turning on the gas when she felt a cold breath on her neck. She felt a bit strange but shook the thought off as she thought it was because she wasn't all that familiar with the surroundings, but when she felt an iron edge brush again her neck, she looked down only to see that it was a knife and that was when she put two and two together. It was probably a person's breath she felt just now.
When she came to the conclusion that she might be killed, she shivered and her hands unconsciously was about to grab a nearby object when she heard a voice by her ear.
"Don't move" It was faint, like a feather tickling one's skin, but only she knew what the experience was like, she felt terrified deep within and stood still without moving.
"Who are you?" That person asked but when he got no reply pressed the knife tighter to her neck as he asked again "Who are you"?
Tasha couldn't answer, she just felt her throat was a little tight and what she wanted to say was stuck in her throat, in the next moment, she opened her eyes and started crying.
Crying was a better word, she was bawling her eyes out in fear as she continuously pleaded "Please don't kill me, I'll leave right now. It's really my mistake, please I don't want to die" She cried harder and harder that Lucas found it hard to think straight.
Unexpectedly, he released his hold on her neck and turned her around to face him but was instead met by her incessant punches against his chest. Her fist was so light that he barely felt it but nonetheless, he felt she was annoying and grabbed her wrist to stop her actions, but she still kept crying complaining about how a bad and evil hearted person he was.
He really was caught in a tight spot now and for the first time, he didn't have anything to alter this girl's continuous whines. She was clearly the one who sneaked into his house to cook noodles, and now he was painted out to be the guilty one. He just couldn't take it lying down.
He increased the strength of his grip, and she moaned in pain, when he saw that he finally got her attention, he yelled angrily. "Shut up"
His words had some majesty to it that one couldn't help but obey and like that, the crying Tasha finally calmed down. But her eyes was staring at him fearfully like a weak rabbit watching a hunter.
...
"So what you're saying is that you are the new caretaker?" He eyed her from head to toe and then back up as if to analyze her himself and Tasha shrunk deeper on the sofa.
"Yes" her voice was somewhat hoarse, as she just finished crying and when she caught the gaze that Lucas was looking at her with she shivered. She had never been scared of anyone before and this was the first.
"What strength do you have to be a caretaker?" She was caught unprepared by his question and lowered her head. Even her knew, judging by her appearance, she wasn't fit, as some caretakers would be required to do labor works, but she was thin and fragile.
She blinked tearfully as she avoided his gaze. She looked so pitiful that even the somewhat strict Lucas had to tone down a little.
He saw she was too weak and there was no point in continuing bullying her, so he cleared his throat. "Since aunt chose you, then you must have some abilities. But I have to remind you that there are a few rules you have to follow if you want us to coexist peacefully".
She nodded her head as she naturally heard the butler mention something like that, but she was just too tired to listen, so she didn't know the details.
"One, no coming down before ten O clock, am usually downstairs around that time and I would like to not have to see your face.
Two, no going near my things. No matter what do not go near my room.
Three, always walk with light footsteps, I hate disturbance and easily get upset by loud footsteps.
Four, No trying to cook for me or fawn me, I hate that the most...." His list went on and on and even Tasha knew she had to listen, or she would have yawned.
"Twenty six" He stopped and eyed her from head to toe "Always put on a baggy t shirt and a short and always pack your hair to a bun. I despise people seducing me the most" Tasha coughed when she heard the last part and looked at her cloth.
Truthfully, she was wearing an oversized shirt that reached her knees since she was thin, it hid her properties very well and her hair was very long, and she didn't want to bother combing it, so she let it fall to her sides but who knew that she would come across as seductive to Mr Lucas who almost killed her just now.
"Last but not the least do not. I repeat do not make a mess of the kitchen. I hate dirtiness" The last part was spoken with despise and Tasha nodded, to let him know she understood. When he saw that, he harrumphed before taking his time to make himself a cup of coffee in only his... Towel.
Tasha felt her cheeks burn and immediately looked away before rushing back upstairs, leaving her noodles behind.
