Russian roulette is a lethal game of chance in which a player places a single round in a revolver, spins the cylinder, places the muzzle against their heads and pulls the trigger in hopes that the loaded chamber does not align with the primer percussion mechanism and the barrel, causing the weapon to discharge.
Its not everyday you get to see a Russian roulette. So little wonder a crowd was quickly formed around Mr Lancaster and Mr Jackson.
Mr Lancaster was ready to die to avoid the mistakes of his past coming back to hunt him, the exact same feeling Mr Jackson was having since he didn't want to face Sharon as a failed man so he was willing to die.
Mr Lancaster is the defending champion. He has survived a total of 12 Russian roulette. Today many hoped he would run out of luck as he will become a legend and earn the title grand patron of the casino if he wins a 13th game. Most of the men gathered around them wanted Mr Peter to win so he could recover at least some part of his lost wealth.
At this moment the the room was so tensed you could cut it with a knife. Both men were sweating profusely in spite of the air conditioner since neither of them wanted to die.
The umpire loaded the bullet into the chamber spinned it and gave the revolver to mr Lancaster. As a defending champion he has the right to go first or second whatever he decides.
He decided to go first. He placed the gun on his head and closed his eyes. The room was silent as he pulled the trigger and a click sound was all that was heard.
He heaved and passed the gun back to the umpire. He quickly reached for a drink and gulped it down. He couldn't believe he was still alive though he knew it was not yet over.
The umpire spinned the chamber for the second time and gave the gun to Mr Peter this time.
He took the gun, placed it on his head, his hand was shaking so he had to make the grip firm with the help of his second hand.
He said a little prayer and pulled the trigger. For a second time a click sound was heard.
He was relieved. He cleaned off the sweat from his face.
For the first time a Russian roulette was going for a second round in this casino. Mr Lancaster saw it as a chance to speak to Mr Jackson to change his mind. But he wouldn't hear of it.
"I didn't come this far to give up now." He said, and in 2mins they were called back for a second round. This time Mr Lancaster decided he wanted to go second. The umpire spinned the cylinder and gave the gun to Mr Jackson.
This time he was more confident. His hands were no longer shaking. He even decided not to say a prayer, so he placed the gun on his head, pulled the trigger by this time every one was nervous. He pulled the trigger and a bang came out.
Mr Lancaster eyes were down. He didn't need to look up to know what had just happened.
No one has ever survived a headshot in the casino.
It dawned on everyone that a member of the casino has just gone to the world beyond.
Mr Lancaster cleaned the sweat off his face and decided to sit down. He wanted to rest and think about his life.
As a grand patron he can now decide to appoint someone else to stand in his place incase of a future Russian roulette.
He went to the management of the casino and requested to see the picture of the daughter of Mr Jackson.
He was surprised when he saw the picture of Sharon. He remembered those blue eyes and thought maybe this was the handwork of fate.
The management of the casino will be concerned with the paper work of transferring Sharon to Mr. Lancaster. Already before the game Mr Jackson had already signed an arrangements giving ownership of his daughter to Mr Lancaster. But Mr Lancaster didn't want anyone telling her she was coming to his home because her dad had lost a bet.
"Leave it to me. " he told them.
