Sharon stepped out from the black car and her mouth dropped in awe as she stared at the large mansion that was set before her, it towered over her as though it was going to swallow her. The gray coating of the paint shined as the sun beat down on it, causing Sharon to raise her hand to shield her eyes as she squinted up at it. Uniquely positioned fencing kept the house enclosed, neatly trimmed hedges surrounded the house. The roof was peaked, bending down at an angle. The windows had blue curtains hanging on the other side of them, drawn so that the sunlight could stream through.
As she stepped onto the sidewalk, Sharon noticed a fountain sitting towards the right side of the lawn. And a soldier holding a gun was perched on top, looking up towards the sky. Water spurted from its other side, which lay gently out in front of it, as if waiting for someone to take it in return. The water fell gently towards the crystal green pool beneath it, causing ripples to form. Bushes trimmed into all sorts of shapes and people littered the place.
She was directed by a female servant to the main door of the mansion. She carried no luggage as Mr Lancaster promised to get her new clothing to suit the life style she will have to start living. She stepped into the living room and was received by an elderly woman.
"Hello young lady, my name is Mrs Williams. I the matron of the house. We have been informed of your coming so every arrangements have been put in place to make room for you in this mansion."
"What is your name?"
Mrs Williams was expecting a response but she didn't get one immediately. She couldn't help but notice the blue eyes of Sharon. She thought she has seen someone with those exact eyes someone but she couldn't place it right away. She repeated the question again this time louder.
Sharon jolted in surprise and immediately stammered, "My name is Sharon. Sharon Jackson." She said.
"Come with me and I will show you to your room. You need to rest before you meet the rest of the family." Mrs Williams could clearly see that she was exhausted.
On her way to the room Sharon noticed the picture of a lady on the wall of the living room.
She could see the lady had blue eyes just like hers. Even the face looked kind of familiar but she couldn't recall where she had see the face.
Immediately she entered her room. She couldn't help but notice some few things.
The room was small with clean white walls, a twin bed, a desk with a blank blotter on it, sliding closets opposite the bed, and thin green shag carpet.
She crashed on her bed and her mind drifted to the moment she entered the house. She couldn't even hear the matron talk because she was in different world of her own. She could feel herself being taken over by another person.
The house felt very familiar. She was feeling like she has entered a place that used to be her home. In fact from the moment she entered the house it was as if a new spirit had taken possession of her body. She could tell what room she will be taken to without being told. The feeling was strange and foreign to her.
After sometime she was able to snap out of it. That had been the moment she realized the matron had been talking to her.
She dozed off, and soon woke up to the sound of someone banging on her door. She rushed to the door and saw Mrs Williams standing there.
"Mr Lancaster will like you to join the rest of the family for dinner right now."
"I'll be right behind you ma'am."
