The entire household had never seen Mr Lancaster so worried. He kept pacing to and fro waiting for the doctor.
"What took you so long?" He barked angrily the moment the doctor stepped into the house.
"Please allow him attend to her first." Mrs Williams said calmly. She was the only one who could talk to him when he is angry.
His grip on the doctor loosened. "I will deal with you later." he promised as Dr Hood quickly rushed upstairs to attend to her.
He came down after 15mins, "She is stable now. She needs to rest for sometime. She ate something she is allergic to. What did she eat?" he asked no one in particular.
Everyone except Tobin was surprised at his question, "We all ate rice and Jambalaya." Shaw said, "But she didn't react to it then." He remembered to add.
"She ate Rhubarb." Tobin blabbed.
"That is it then. She is allergic to strawberries or anything made from it." Dr Hood said.
Everyone was shocked. It was a known fact that everyone in the family was allergic to strawberries, except Tobin.
Mr Lancaster could not help but wonder how Sharon was allergic to the same thing his entire family was allergic to. Everyone else saw it as a coincidence but he felt there was more to it. He thanked the doctor and returned to his study.
Tobin had still not recovered from his shock. He remembered he was sitting outside eating his rhubarb because it will cause trouble for him to be seen eating it inside the house, when Sharon walked up to him in order to get some more information about him. As usual he was not in the mood. He saw her as trouble.
"Hi! Can I know more about you?" she had asked.
"There is nothing to know. I am Tobin is all I can tell you." he replied coldly.
She felt offended and decided to sit close to him in order to force a conversation. In as much as she didn't like him, she wanted to be around him more than being inside the house with the other brothers. He reminded her of her father after all.
Tobin was determined not to give up his seat because of her. So he just kept eating his rhubarb with his ear piece in his ears.
He remembered he came out with no water, so at that moment he decided to go in to get water. He left his rhubarb on his seat and headed inside the house. That was the exact moment Sharon decided to get back at him for snubbing her.
She took the Rhubarb and rushed everything down her throat. She chuckled when she imagined the shock that will be on his face when he finds out what she had done.
The snack was barely down her throat when she started feeling dizzy. She didn't understand what was happening. She had never taken a Rhubarb before so she didn't know it contained strawberry.
It started with a hot feeling down her throat
She wanted to scream for help but she could not. By this time her eyes were filled with tears and she was sweating. She tried to get to the door when her legs gave way.
Tobin was confused when he came back and met her on the floor. He rushed to her side and started screaming her name but he got no response. Thankfully she was breathing but her eyes were not open. He became really scared when he saw the crumbs of rhubarb on her lips. He quickly looked at his seat where he had dropped it, and when he realized what she had done, he yelled at the servants to go call his elder brothers. Their father had arrived before any of the brothers could come.
Tobin went to her room to check on her after his dad had gone into his study, but she was asleep. For the first time he noticed how beautiful she was. Her long dark hair falling freely around her shoulders.
Tobin looked at her as she lay on her bed. He couldn't imagine how she could be allergic to strawberries. He thought it was weird that his own brothers were allergic to it and he was not. He had never truly understood why. He walked down to her bed and placed his hand on her shoulder. "Right from day one I always knew you were trouble." He whispered those words to her ears.
He made up his mind to avoid her at all cost
He didn't want to get into trouble with his dad. He had seen the look on his face. The care on his face he saw today he has never seen it on his face for years. He had come to the conclusion that she must be very dear to him then.
