[Ring-ring...]
.
.
Beer cans, pizza boxes and other trash from what seem to be takeout's cluttered the somewhat spacious van; parked in some road.
Hideous is a word that can somewhat accurately describe the place.
Yet despite such messy appearance, the van itself isn't some abandoned relic as one might think. For in the lone bed inside the van lays two people sleeping idly, not being bothered by the messy place.
.
.
[Ring-ring...]
As the two people continue to slumber. The ringing of the phone echoes loudly in the somewhat quiet place. Not being bothered by the thing at the slightest, the phone remained ignored for many minutes.
But as they remain lying on the bed, the ringing still continued which prompted one of them to finally act. Opening the sheet which the two were on, the scene reveals a pantless woman with pale skin and horns. Wearing only a long shirt and undergarments, she exhaustedly sighs and scratches her messy hair.
"You going to answer that?" The horned woman listlessly muttered.
Just beside where the woman lays, is a bearded man wearing full clothes unlike the woman. With a slight whiteness visible in his hair and beard, one can say that the man is somewhat older than average. Getting up from the bed, the man then brushes his face and slowly walks out of the thing.
"You've been far awake than I was." The man exhaustedly sighs. "You could have at least answered it for me."
"Hehehehe..." The horned woman chuckles. "But you were very soft and warm back there. Waking you up would have just mean that I can no longer hug you."
[Sigh...]
With a disappointed look in his face, the man then ignores the woman and slowly made his way to the still ringing phone. Reaching the phone with his hand, he then calmly answers the call
"This is Blood and Trigger agency. How may I help you?" The man spoke.
"My, my, my..." The voice in the phone spoke. "I've been calling you for about 30 minutes now Mr. Carroll, yet it took this long to finally answer it."
"U-uumm... miss Rachiel"
"That would be commissioner Rachiel, Mr. Carroll. If you were any normal Nightmare hunter, I wouldn't have bothered continuing this call the first instance you failed to pick up the call alone."
"Right..." the man muttered. "Might I know why you're calling me this early in the morning?"
"It's already late 8 a.m. Mr. Carroll, such time is already far from early morning."
"..."
"Frustrations aside, I have a new case that I would like you to handle." Rachiel explained. "Further details will be discussed in my office so please don't keep me waiting like earlier. I'm a pretty busy person unlike you Mr. Carroll."
Hanging up from the call, the man was left even more exhausted from before. He didn't really expect to get such treatment quite early in the morning. But seeing how it's partially a fault of his, he then just drops the phone and prepares to head out. Grabbing a darkest brown coat and a key.
"Who was that?" The horned woman asked.
"Commissioner Rachiel." The man answers.
"Oh, miss coldbitch ehh... Is it another job?"
"Mind your language Red."
"Don't care!" Red smirkingly spoke. "It's not like she's going to hear me said those in here anyway."
"With that demeanor of hers, she would have already flattened that face of yours if she at least hears you call her that."
"Right-right... so what's the job going to be now?"
"Don't know." The man answered. "She said that details about the case will be discuss in her office."
"In her office ehh... so that means another trip to the station?"
"Seems about it."
"If that's the case then can I finally get to drive the van!?"
"No."
"Booo... screw you Louis, I've been in this van for at least a year now. When will I finally get to properly drive this thing?" Red questioned with a somewhat angry expression.
"Probably never." Louis calmly said.
"Ehhhh!?"
"There are many factors that are considered in order to get a driver's license. Considering what you essentially are, I highly doubt they'll allow you to even take one." Louis explains. "There's also the fact that you can't even drive any basic vehicle for that matter."
"Pffttt... you're saying that high iq me can't drive such a measly vehicle?"
"May I ask what happened the last time I let you drive the van?"
"U-umm... t-that was a complete accident that wasn't my fault. Even my vast mind wasn't able to foresee such an event." Red panicky spoke.
"Right... crashing the van to the sea was totally an accident and not because you were panicking the whole time." Louis spoke. "You do know how much maintenance that accident of yours cost right?"
"Don't know so when am I going to start driving again?" Red cheerily spoke.
"Just put on some clothes, will you?" Louis sighs
"Ok!"
After saying those words, Louis then made his way to the driver's seat. Turning on the van, he then prepares to drive off to the police station where Rachiel is located to.
Not long after Louis was seated, Red then arrives at the driver's seat as well. With a white jacket and a pair of pants worn, she then quickly sits herself at the seat right next to Louis while eating a slice of pizza in the process.
"There's still some leftover pizza slices from last night in the fridge if you want?" Red spoke while chewing the pizza in her mouth.
"I'll just get some coffee later." Louis replied.
Turning on the van wheels, they then quietly head off the road. With sullied appearance and all.
Yet despite how murky their appearance may seem the two are well fit to tackle any problem they face.
And much like any other case they face, today would be much the same.
Gory
And
Probably messy.
