Chapter 55 - The Emerald Horde Part 2

Palesa rubs Tau pulsing head. The preparations are almost complete. A storm of troops ready to be conjoined with the fowls. The plan is simple. Smoke out the adult Steelhorns and block the entrance. Diana's ten are the ones whole will setup and light the smoke piles. The mix of leaves and dried weeds should produce a lung wrenching smoke. Palesa's hope is that the Steelhorns big enough to run will follow their parent, leaving only newborn Steelhorn fowls.

Jade and Oda have made their way to forefront overlooking the Gobo's from the Chain. They have penetrated through the air burrows of this particular dungeon. Behind them are all the recuirts from the Emerald Horde. Forty somewhat strong potentialled gobo's. They all carry a nervous scent stall as old bread and as brittle. Due impart to the number of assaults they have been receiving. With the horde of guard duty the smaller banners can't keep as a tight a guard as the horde.

This is coupled with the tension created by the pack of goblins moving ever closer to them has the horde and the ballooning follower camp on edge. Just as much as the food concern Tau is instant on that they have to also give the follower camp food. Gcina while in general agreement with the other leaders it is also hampering development of the Horde as a whole.

"This is like our biggest attack yet. Tau are you sure about the Eagle you know their are other monster we could tame. " says Diana her words sounding a bit misplaced as if spoken from a distance.

"Yeah I know...The Eagles are massive for our efforts like I said early. I myself wasn't sure how to put it but whenever I'm close to one I feel they will help more than the Hippogryph's. I think the reason I want them is that we could rush to our new home. check it out before the others arrive. plus they are fucking cool. Not as cool as your invincible honey badgers." Says Tau to Diana who smiles at this after a tough battle capturing them without damage. They discovered that the honey badgers they capture are small wolf sized mobile tanks. They have better tracking than wolves, run longer than the kobold's and Elands. They also have strong attacks Tau is sure that in later years they will have a battle banner centered around the honey badger however for now them finding herbs is their prime objective.

"How is that possible the Eagles at most will be an effective Air Force but the Hippogryph's can operate on land water and the air. They are extremely versatile," says Gcina her War beasts will become the pride of the pride of nation. Crossing her arms as she is defending her war beast.

"I didn't meant it like that the Hippogryph's are great but the Eagles are special I just know it. Their is a fire to them that no other beast show." Says Tau trying to explain the scent and feelings he gets from the Eagles.

"My leaders we are ready the smoke has the Steelhorns on the move." Says Impi atop a Hynea. Each of the leaders present start to get ready. Gcina and Diana say their farewells to Palesa Tau. Kisses and scents being swopped between them. Diana and Gcina are heading to the front. While Palesa and Tau are going to the expanded breathing holes. Jade and Oda are outside these holes with the Emerald Horde.

At the breathing hole Oda goes to Tau smiling even with a strong foul stench coming from the dungeon. "I think I can make our hunt even quicker." Says Oda over the last hour his blood talent had ranked up.

"Let's see your work Oda, I have been looking forward to you becoming more proactive." Says Tau to the grinning Oda. Oda takes out a small dagger. The curved shape of the miniature blade is of a design tau is unfamiliar with. Oda cuts into his forearm. The shape of the cut is a spiral. His blood doesn't leak from the cut instead it glows brighter. The blood sits around the cut and Oda moves to the main breathing hole. The main shaft has been left as an escape for them to use to capture the fowls.

When Oda places his bloody forearm on the ground at the exit of the main shaft. An exact replica of his bloody spiral appears on the ground. The ground pulses as Oda chants his spell. His innate talent to attract beasts with his blood will prove useful for once. The red spiral spins as an ethereal red cloud of his blood spreads into the exit.

Plumes of smoke start escaping the birthing Dungeon. First, a subtle and constant rumbling is felt. As small pebbles dance in response to the Heavy Steelhorn Stampede. Loud bellows and distressed calls are heard as the fleeing mother herd call for their fowls. At the entrance, a small flag is being waved as the first of the iron meats runs out. At the head, the largest Steelhorn leads her horns each at least two meters long and made of grey metal.

The entire herd rumbles past the entrance fleeing into the open grasslands away from the dungeon, many young in close proximity. Jade lifts a small red flag when the final straggler an injured fowl Steel horn who has bright red eyes wake his way out. From above the entrance, another rumble begins as rocks carved from the dungeon tumble below. The sounds of rocks like thunder throwing up dust and rock chips as the entrance is blocked. The cries of some desperate fowls caught in the slide.

Inside the ten members of the Emerald Chain, talk without voice. their voice transmitted b their horde magic to another. Their plan has worked so well that they are unable to see their way out. Diana can feel through her connection that the smoke also clouds the connection and making it difficult for her to command her troops. Diana starts to sweat accompanied by a strange scent. Tau is the first to make it out.

"Diana! Are you okay?" The scent is so strong but doesn't travel like normal. It is a hanging scent deeply unpleasant to Tau, and the rest of the Leaders who are all gathered around Diana. Diana is trying to focus on coordinating her gobo's. She can feel their fear, a nervous apprehension at the situation and a deep unwillingness to fail. Each of them reinforces each other's convictions.

Diana says, " take me closer to the dungeon." SHe is doing her best to keep the connection stable at least that way her gobo's can try to find a solution. Tau is pushed aside by Palesa who is in truth the stronger of the two anyways. SHe carries Diana in her arms moving to where Oda and Jade are by the main air shaft.

The members of the chain use the opportunity to rustle the youngest towards the exit. The connection affords them a general sense of direction of Diana is. A small whips of grass of cast by each member in a fifteen-meter radius. the Grass inside the dungeon responds by wiping anything in the bubble they cast. Newborn fowls disturbed from their hides start moving away from the stinging grass. their skin too thin to protect them anything. Coughing and bleats or panic fill the dungeon. As the fowls run away into the newly extended main shaft.

Diana catches the scent of something sweet and familiar. Her thoughts about another gobo using the blood calling is a heaven-sent blessing. She takes in the scent, it's Oda's blood. 'Of course!' she thinks to herself. Remembering that Oda's innate talent revolves around blood but more pressing for her is that his scent is distinct even in the smoke. It is clear she transmits the odour through the Chians connections. coupled with the feeling of her general location. The gobo's start pacing towards the main shaft.

Outside the exit of the main shaft are forty gobo's. The recruits of the Emerald Horde each have a net in one hand with a short rope in the other. As a gentle stampede of babies pours out the main. The recruits don't immediately pounce rather in groups of five they run alongside each picking a baby. Unlike their parents, their skin is gentle and doesn't have any have of Metallic skin or iron horns.

The recruits running alongside take their time finding the one they want. Attracted by a fowls guts or speed a few fowls even turned to fight even thou they don't have any horns and some are thin. The stampede soon turns into.

Palesa is the last to pounce her pick is a guided by her talent she can see a strange shimmer around several fowls. she chooses the one with the bright green shine to her eyes. Smiling as she appears in front of the fowl. She knocks it down using her dominating cold pressure to subdue and the fowl.
