Chereads / The Goblin's Feast / Chapter 54 - [ Moonlight Sonata ]

Chapter 54 - [ Moonlight Sonata ]

"The more, the merrier," I opined while stimulating the plan once more inside my head.

Everything should fall into their respective phases because one mistake will get us killed. I also told them that if they ever put themselves in danger, they need to run away as fast as possible and meet at the rendezvous point. Elanor should be on standby on the other side of the forest, right next to the village's border. He can always provide us with magic support once he sees something uncanny happening in our team,

"Are you guys ready?" I scan every face of my group, eagerly listening to my instructions.

"Let's do it," All of them nod their heads in concert and swiftly hurtle to their places.

Imra went searching around the vicinity, keeping an eye over the monsters patrolling the area. Shadow grips at the pouch filled with the poisonous plant and hurriedly strides towards the cliff where he can find the river. Natalia sits in position at the top of the tallest tree and activates an archery skill.

"[Moonlight Sonata]" She bawls and discharges the arrow grasps by her hands, shooting towards the million stars in the sky.

'Moonlight Sonata. I have heard that name before,' I mumble to myself, recalling a boat floating in the moonlight on a tranquil lake.

Suddenly, the azure window pops up, yet again, in front of me, revealing the skill's information.

[Moonlight Sonata]

-A stark area of effect skill that summons innumerable arrows at a designated section. Few of the shafts have their negative effects. They can inflict poison, paralysis, burn, frozen, and wounded if it hits any living target.

"Thank you for that invaluable data system," I sarcastically regarded while swiping away the screen from my face.

"Welcome, master," A robotic voice echoed inside my ears, messing with my brain that the system replied to my annoying comment.

'No. It cannot be,' I thought to myself while resuming my focus here in my reality.

"What will you be doing?" Imra, who has already monitored the square twice, queries me a question.

"What I do best," A smirk curls on my mouth after materialising the quiver and bow from my waiting hands. "Stir them some chaos."

Right after my sentence, I jolt towards the bushes and conceal my body near the vicious monsters. From there, I readied my bow and aimed at the farthest creature of the camp.

An abrupt snapping sound reverberates through the encampment as the lifeless body falls on the cold ground. Every being that has heard the sudden noise rushes near the scene. As soon as they arrived, they witnessed their dead comrade shot by an arrow.

They point their fingers at one another, trying to blame the culprit of the monsters holding spears and bows, similar to my dart.

"You killed brother!"

"I did not do it! I am innocent!"

"Brother dead! Who to blame?!"

Frustrated, the ogres glares at the chieftain while raising his weapon against their leader. All of their members did the same and prepared themselves for a small scale civil war, unable to trust their kin because of the sudden events.

"We are friends. Monsters good!" The towering orc pronounced while casting a magic spell at the parallel shrubs and trees. "This is the work of an enemy!"

'Finally, someone who can use ten percent of its brain,' I sighed after watching the entire idiotic scene of these wretched beasts.

After a while, the arrows above head at once rain upon them, hitting multiple creatures in every direction. They were too late to react as they soon gazed at the clouds with an arrow piercing their heads or their limbs.

Desperate caterwauls fill the forest in all quarters. Some of them that have unique abilities had the chance to activate their spells, but I rendered their efforts useless in the end.

Before they can even release their attacks, my arrow will come flying over in their direction and slit their throat, killing them in an instant.

"You," Amidst the pandemonium, the goliath leers in my direction, where the hedge covers my green body. "You're the one who caused all this!"

With his sudden speech, the orc throws his bat at me with incredible speed, even hitting the monsters standing in the way. I can even see their head flying elsewhere across the battlefield, with fountains of blood decorating the setting.

With my increased dexterity, I eluded the hovering object, in breadths length, from my nape.

Cold sweat slides through my face as I slowly look behind where the axe-like weapon should have hit me. Instead, it crashes against a boulder, nearly smashing it into smithereens before it can rest on the soil.

"That was a close call," I wipe the sweat off my cheeks and leer at the enemy before me, standing still while holding his plumptious belly.

"You goblin move like a rat!" He returns my gaze and steadily makes his way through the corpses of his fellow orc tribe. "I hate green rats!"

The orc boosts his speed while stretching his arms, reaching out for both my body and the weapon behind.

I career once more, this time adding more pace using water jets propelling me at various places. Eventually, the orc picked up its stick and smashed the nearby trees in anger.

"Goblin!" He screamed at the top of his lungs and attempted to swing his bat from side to side, cornering me into a location disadvantageous for my part.

Little did he know that I have already accomplished my task. I pounce my way over to the tree and leap from one branch after the other, escaping the wrath of the maddened beast.

The orc desperately tries to give chase but gets momentarily stopped by the infuriating arrows beating him down. Adding more fuel to the fire, I launched a strafe of [Aimed Shot] arrows and aimed it directly at its head, trying to pierce one of its eyes, which was the only vulnerable part of its body.

After one lucky shot, the arrow that I fired impaled his orb, hindering him from pursuing me further. The orc stumbles upon a rock while covering his injured eye with its hand, stopping the blood from oozing out from his body.

A violent scream follows his anguish as he succumbs the pain to himself, which was the only thing holding him back. Even though his skin was grittier than the usual metal, there will always be a vulnerable spot for a monster like him.

"Natalia, Shadow, Imra, let's go!" I assemble my friends and run as fast as our legs can, as if our lives depend on it.

"There are sixty orcs, twenty ogres, and thirty boars chasing our tail, Lake," Imra reports as she glances behind, confirming what she had seen.

"Now that's some good news," I remarked and acknowledged what Imra had said.

"Master, I have placed the herb in the lake. The content must spread as we speak," Shadow delineates while tossing the pouch aside, thinking that we cannot use that container for further use. I simply take the time and cast my [Astral Space], thinking that we could use this soon in a similar situation.

"Now that we have accomplished our goal, we should-,"

"Goblin! Come back here!" The cyclops orc interrupts my sentence as we see him charging forth in our direction.

We can witness the orc's blood still seeping from his socket, with her his other eye-burning bloody red from his outrage.

"Great, more good news!" I heave out a sigh as I materialise all of my comrades with the same water jets thrusting us into motion.

The three of them gasp in surprise as they feel their body levitating in mid-air, forcing them to travel at a faster speed than before. Through time, they learn to steer my magic independently.

"Just a bit more, and we will reach our village," I announced as I saw the vague image of the cottages with few elite soldiers waiting for our arrival.

"I can see them!" I can hear Elanor's growl even from here as he orders his men to cast protective barriers and prepare the magic missiles, just like we had planned from before.

"Now!" With Elanor's guidance, a spherical force field takes form, cushioning our crash while barricading the incoming beasts still hunting us far back.

With the following spell's cast by the elf sorcerers, a formidable twister appears at the horde, disrupting their formation. Some of them get entangled by the tornado and forcefully soars upward, only to get tossed back on the ground.

After witnessing his army vanishing slowly in plain view, the mighty orc issues his group for them to withdraw to their base. Most of the beasts accepted his proposal and followed him without question, while others continued attacking the wall, desperate to catch at least on prey.

Eventually, their force withers in numbers, sending them to the afterlife with the ongoing hurricane.

"Should we give chase?" Elanor suggested, not wanting to waste any opportunities out of the event.

"Let them leave," I answered, knowing what would happen if they drank the intoxicated body of water. "Those monsters will eventually die."
