"[Hail]!"
A beautiful snowstorm appears before me, hurling through a distance where I have last seen the enormous orc. I scan the area and notice the broad plains with a river resting beside it. It was an identical scene where we desperately ran for our lives, wishing we had not ambushed the monsters.
Unfortunately, the scene was beyond my expectations. I have witnessed lifeless bodies of monsters laid flat on the floor, with their stomach burst or turned purple because of the toxins in the water.
My eyes spotted a familiar figure perched beside the set of stones and trees. The massive orc has its body steaming with heat without the presence of fire burning his umber skin.
I have little idea if this skill would kill or inflict damage to that monster, but I will try my best to, at least, leave a mark on his bulky arm.
Taking advantage of our break, I directed the twister over the setting, hoping to hit that bastard from behind.
'He'll never see it coming!' I mumble to myself while gritting my teeth at the suspense running through the background.
The whirlwind slowly makes its way closer to the area as it tears down the nearby trees and corpses of isolated monsters. It also caught the flock of birds up by the wind and sucked everything amidst it all. During the storm, I materialised a translucent barrier made of water sprinkles and tested a new skill that I thought of.
Its purpose is to hold out any particles and absorb or melt them upon contact. The liquid that I used came from the vapour of scalded water and eventually cooled it off using my magic. It makes little sense at all. But because of how arcane works this world is, everything is possible.
[Congratulations! You have discovered a new skill and enhanced its capabilities!]
[Your [Mistify] ability strengthened into [Mystify Rune]] (Note: The abilities stay the same, but the player can toggle if he or she wants to activate the barricade skill.)
New Added Feature
-Upon activation, the haze will transform into a solidified matter instead of a gas that will trap anything inside. You can also use it as a safeguard that assimilates any magic attack equivalent from the transferred arcane. (Note: Your party members can furthermore get locked inside the fog. Although if instructed, they can freely escape the mist unless told not to by the system.)
Basically, it's just a mist that can block any projectiles as long as I could continuously feed it with magic. It is an overpowered spell if I have more mana and a burden if I have less. What I have now is the latter.
"I will piss Elanor off if he finds out everything," I grumble to myself as I recall his words not to do anything rash.
However, if my plan works miraculously, it would increase our survivability to win this upcoming fight. We got ourselves doomed anyway, so we have to take the risk.
"Yes. Everything should probably be fine," I assure myself, thinking that my actions were for a greater cause.
Using my [scan] and my heightened senses, I discern the colossal orc, still sitting on the bark of the tree. The maddened orc moved to a spot closer to the camp where his few allies desperately clinging to their conscience from the deadly poison. They are still commendable to have lived this far, even having the toxic inside of them.
Soon, the twister enters their realm and sweeps off the rest of the leaves on the ground. Fortunately for the monsters, they reacted quickly to the calamity and hopelessly cast few magic barriers to defend themselves. Even the orc who seemed immortal at first glance coughs out sputum of blood as he controls his magic.
"Pesky little goblin!" The orc curses in my direction as I can read his lips, thanks to my enhanced eyesight.
Amused, I stick my tongue out and continue to provoke the titan. However, it was just a matter of time that karma hit me, particularly my back.
"What in the goblin's name?" I turned behind and only noticed the clouds whistling with the breeze. With nobody there that could have accomplished the attack?
I reach for my spine and feel cold liquid dripping over my ragged cloth, paired with the blistering pain on my bottom. My dorsal has three distinguishable long slashes that cut deep through the dermis and my muscles. Thankfully, the goblin's skin and nerves had never affected me with the pain. I need to be mindful of the blood loss inside my body, which will, later on, be a hindrance to my body.
"No freaking way," I could not help but stare at the sunrise, slowly illuminating the gloomy night.
Discerning my sides, the flock of motionless birds comes into life and eventually flaps their wings above ground. Upon hovering in mid-air, they see an unrecognisable figure with them- a green and ugly sprite with water spouting on its feet, granting him the ability to fly. I can only pray for the safety of that poor soul, as he was about to engage in battle with these gliding creatures.
And I was the green goblin I am talking about.
Upon examining the winged beasts, I notice one bird got astray away from its group with crimson gout on its golden beak.
"So you're the preceptor who hurt my back!" I exclaimed while conjuring my favourite spell, the water sphere.
"Eat this, you stupid chicken!" I fling one swift ball in its direction, expecting it to hit and injure its wings.
To my astonishment, the soaring fowl dodges the attack with ease. It even mocked me with its chitter akin to what a fox would have sounded like.
"Oh my god, you're one hell of an annoying chicken!" I screamed, unable to hit him even once with ten consecutive water spheres.
I can feel the heat boiling through my brain, even cooking my skin into a well-done steak because of stress. Somehow, I wanted to roast some chickens for tonight, marinate them in oil, and slowly enjoy torturing them.
"It's decided then!" I pronounced while materialising my quiver and recurve, harnessing the arcane left inside of me to kill this certain bird. "I will tie you up and coat you in flour!"
"[Aimed shot and Scald!]"
I launched three of the warmed-up shafts at their way, with extreme speed comparable to the wind. I can almost say that my arrow has the velocity of a lightning-faster than the speed of sound.
"See if you can dodge that!" I prompt it to do anything that it can in front of the bullet hastily approaching its way.
I doubt the bird could elude the pace of that arrow, in which I had added more arcane power into my discharge.
As soon as the bolt crashes against the bird, an enormous fountain showers the place, hitting the elves and humans below me. That was when Elanor and the others noticed my actions. They quickly reverted their way to the forest, where the orc and the other beasts are charging straight at the village.
"Lake, what are you up to right now!" Elanor yelled while waving his hand. "And why are you fighting against the winged beasts!"
Without prior notice, Elanor shoots the incoming bird attempting to attack my occiput and the five others headed straight at me. Never had I expected that these creatures are quirky than those land beasts. They were better at assassinating individuals and taking advantages out of the situation.
They are a stupid bunch, but not fools. They can read the situation well, as if a warrior knows nothing but head straight for war. However, using their experience, they can effortlessly discern any winning fight and use their knowledge in battle.
These were the beasts that I am facing right now.
"Thank you!" I shriek back at Elanor while embarrassingly brushing my head, yearning not to get scolded by the likes of him.
"I might have turned the situation worse or better. In case you don't know, but it feels like something is about to happen shortly!" I added while blocking their strikes using my water walls.
"I forgot to tell you. The titanic orc with his brawny friends will head towards your way! They are all weak and injured, but I think we can handle them for now!"
"You what!" Elanor remarked furiously while launching his dart at the incoming boar from behind, without even batting an eye. "Nevermind. Come down here once you're through with that problem."
Accepting his defeat, Elanor quickly went with the others and provided backup to his soldiers. We can all hear the rampaging footsteps from afar, which came from the horde of monsters coming in our way.
'Enough of that, Blake. Worrying about them will not help you in this situation,' I told myself while discharging an arrow at the approaching bird, attempting to land a hit on my bald head.
"There goes my meal,"
