Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Devils Deal

A punch, blocked. He retaliated with a kick, I try to block, but I'm to slow. Sent tumbling along the ground again. 'It hurts,' I think as I cough up blood. Even in a world that only exists inside of me, the pain and everything is very real. I see why Gil always told me to make sure not to die.

Ever since we agreed this would be our last fight, Gil had seemed sad, like he was hoping for me to somehow suddenly be able to at least hit him. It was infuriating. No matter what I do, he's faster stronger and smarter. In a completely empty open area there's nothing I can do to close that gap.

"It's so infuriating beyond belief! Everything in this godless world!" I began shouting. "From the moment somebody is born into this endless hell they're doomed to have to give their life! And for what?! Just for even more to have to do the same?!"

The more I yelled, the more I felt like I needed to. The words kept flowing from my heart as all the pain and hurt this world had shown me refused to leave my mind.

"Well I'm done with it all! You want me to become stronger?! Then fine! I'll become so strong that I can make this world a safer place!"

I'd be hard pressed to say I was feeling better by yelling. But I definitely was not feeling worse. With every word that left my lips I could feel a heat expanding from my chest to the rest of my body, and, I liked that feeling.

"Caesar, are you okay?" Gil asked, but I couldn't tell you if I ignored him or just didn't hear him.

Strength. That's all I could think. That's the answer to my problem. Those that have strength have power, and those with power get to make the rules in this world. If I had that power, I could make it so nobody has to suffer.

Power is red, strength is absolute. They're fierce and don't back down. They are, the opposite of me.

'I know what they are like though,' what was this, my thoughts? Or were they? 'I know what else is red. My rage! My anger! Bloodlust is red!'

Wether or not these thoughts are mine I had given myself to the warm feeling that had settled around my entire body.

"Caesar!" Gil yelled, he sounded almost worried.

That didn't register to me though. All I thought when i heard his voice, was to direct this feeling I had onto him.

'Power, Gil has power. If I can beat Gil I can take his power. All I have to do, is hit him!'

With that thought, i felt all my anger leave, along with what felt like my strength. I felt tired. Incredibly so. But I couldn't look down. Not yet. I was fighting?

I couldn't describe how what I felt if I wanted to. Because I was confused but I understood. What I saw was me, but not me, because I'm me, I think.

Gil had his arms in an X in front of him, blocking a punch. The one who was punching him, was me.

They at least looked just like me, except inverted? Where my outfit was black with a white cape, his was white with a black cape. While my hair was red his was blue.

"Who are you?" I asked, calling out to them.

"Gah you really are an insufferable fool," they snapped with a voice that sounded almost just like mine, except their voice was full of malice. "Does this look like any time to have a conversation?" He asked as he kicked towards Gils head. Gil blocked it and jumped back, looking worried. "Just sit back and let me take care of things, like I always should have!"

The fight between the both of them was far more intense than anything I was capable of. Every time Gil threw out an attack, the other me dodged it easily and quickly threw out an attack of their own that Gil had to block, and every time he did he was pushed back. A fight of raw strength.

Strength, that's what I was thinking when that inverted me showed up, did I make them? I sure hope so, because if they can push back Gil, I can't beat them.

"Go other me!" I shouted, trying to cheer him on. "Show Gil we won't be pushed around!"

"Your desires are heard loud and clear. Pulverize Gil!" The other me shouted as he launched faster than ever straight towards Gil, who defensively went to block again. Except no attack ever came, instead the other me ended up behind him.

"And say goodnight!" The other me laughed as he turned and drive his elbow into Gils back. "One hit and he's down, just what you wanted. Now we can have that talk."
