The other me walked towards me with an unsettling grin. The look I'm his eyes made my skin crawl. Everything about him made my warning bells shout danger. And yet, he felt like by his side is where I would be safest.
"So, who are you?" I asked with a shaky voice.
"Wha..hahahaha!" He started laughing right in my face. I could tell he was mocking me. "Are you really so worthless that you haven't figured at least that much out yet?"
"I've been through a lot lately, so do you have to be such a jerk?" I asked trying to stand my ground.
"I'm the jerk?!" He yelled as he grabbed my by the front of my cloak, lifting me off the ground. "Do you know how long I've been trapped? A hostage inside my own mind?!"
"A hostage?" I asked confused. "Your mind?"
He threw me to the ground and looked like he was about to kill me.
"I can't believe you're really my other half," he said disappointedly while sighing. "Do you seriously have no idea about me?"
"I can't say I have, no," I said, mostly afraid.
"Figures," he sighed. The more we talked the more it felt like his malice was subsiding. "I'll give ya the easy version then since it isn't really your fault this happened. When you were young you developed your powers early, due to being raised out in the wild. That sadly damaged your brain and you became bloodthirsty, so your parents used their powers to split your personality in half, and seal your ability deep in your subconscious with half your personality. That would be me."
It was a lot to hear all at once. I didn't know if I should trust him or not.
"Wait, so why didn't Xynthia unlock her ability?" I asked.
"Oh her, because your parents only took us in the wild. Some grand plan we could complete. Apparently we scared them though." He said. "Well it's about time for you to wake up. Your body has been in a coma state for a while, I don't believe we're still in that training camp. When you wake up, be careful, and if any real danger starts up that you can't handle, call out my name, and I'll take over."
With that I jumped awake, and all I saw in front of me was blue, and all I heard was the crash of waves.
Taking a moment to collect myself, I looked around and saw I was on a beach again, this time though I didn't see any storms or the cliffs anywhere around. This island also didn't have a mountain or anything from what I could tell. It seemed much smaller too, with just a small forest.
"Hello!" I called out.
Nothing but wind and waves would answer my calls. It seemed I was entirely alone wherever I was. But why, and where?
I tried opening my system up, but it showed nothing. It was as if all the menus had shut off or it was gone.
I couldn't even enter my inner place to talk to Gil or that other me that was in there. Despite my large desire to break down and panic. I forced myself to calm down and try to rationalize out a plan.
The facts I knew is I was alone, had no access to other information and couldn't use my powers.
"Oh, so I'm absolutely, totally, without a doubt screwed," I said in defeat.
With nothing but my own survival skills to keep me alive. I decided that the next best course of action would be to explore the island. To make sure I'd recognize where I woke up I went and broke a branch off a tree and stuck it in the beach to create a landmark of sorts for myself.
From there I decided to head towards the right side of me, where the sun seemed to be rising. The entire time I made sure to be cautious about anything coming from the water or forest, but nothing ever did.
The island ending up being very small, it took me only an hour to circle the entire thing while walking.
"So I guess next is exploring the forest then, or should I create a camp first?" I ran through my options out loud hoping for somebody to chime in, but I was met only with the sound of the waves lightly lapping on the shore.
"I hate this, why am I alone here?" I sulked, dragging my foot in the sand.
Making decisions was never my strong suit, acting on somebody else's was though. I was supposed to have Xynthia by my side at least, if not a whole team.
I sulked for a few hours until something had caught my foot under the sand. It felt cold, not fitting for the hot beach I was on.
I started digging to find out what it was, and once I saw it I smiled.
"Maybe I can make being on my own work," I laughed.
