Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

I said, "Then we have to go get him! Grace you have to stay here." Grace nodded, and Storm and I jumped down the tree. We walked through the forest, searching for Rooster and the others. Then we heard pained yowling. We rushed towards the noise, and there were many cages with many cats inside.

One of them had the trio of missing cats, and another one had Eclipse. The rest were enemy cats. There were no humans in sight, so we rushed towards the cage, and Moe whispered, "What are you doing here!?" Oliver said, "Let us out! Please!" Rooster looked at me and he said, "Just get us out of here." He seemed impatient, so I used my claws to get him out.

Storm asked me, "How did you do that?" I told him, "I'll teach you later, but for now we need to free these cats." Storm glanced at them, and like so, he frowned upon the hostile glint in all of their eyes. I walked up to the cage Eclipse was in, and when I opened it, she pounced on me and said, "I still have a job to do."

Rooster knocked her off, and this caused a loud havoc. Because of the noise, a human with a grey shirt, pants, and hat came over and shouted, "The cats are escaping!" We all ran into the forest, but I was pinned down by Eclipse once again, and before she could do anything, Jay appeared out of nowhere and pushed her off of me with a face twisted with emotion.

With him was Quinn and Smoke, and they were staying on the defensive. Jay asked her, "Is your name Eclipse?" She growled, "Yes. Why do you-" Before she could finish that sentence, Jay scratched her front leg and shouted, "Your brother! How could you attack your own brother!?" Quinn and Smoke were confused, and Quinn shouted, "Wait, Rudy's daughter!?"

She shouted, "How do you people know my name?" Jay said, "Because King Jet named you!" She was still in denial about Jet being her father. She struggled to get free, but Jay was stronger than she was. Quinn shouted, "We need to go! More humans are coming!" Jay leaped off of Eclipse, and we all ran back into the forest.

We climbed into the tree where the others were, and we had a talk. Jay said, "She's just like Blossom, but worse." I flattened my ears, and said, "I know that! She just needs a little-" "No Birch! Her mind can't be changed no matter how many times you drill it into her head!" I looked down. I don't know why, but it felt so hopeless to try to talk to Eclipse at all. Hero is easy to talk to, and Storm is understanding. Why isn't Eclipse?

Jay said, "I'm sorry Birch, but you telling her about the humans was a bad idea." I stayed silent. Nothing could change the fact that he was correct. Suddenly, Hero appeared out of nowhere and said, "That's not true!" Everyone got on the defensive, but I said, "Wait! This is Hero!" Jay glared at Hero, and the others calmed down.

Hero said, "She doesn't care if she captures you or not. And I found out something you should know." I said, "Speak away." He cleared his throat, and said, "Ace is working with the humans. In fact, he keeps leading them right to you. He convinced that Rudy was dead, and that his son Birch still lives. A man named Andy agreed to work with Ace to find you."

I wanted to sink into the ground when I heard that name. Andy, or "The Scar Man", had returned, and he's now after me. Jay shouted, "That's even worse than what's going on!" Quinn shouted, "The four-wheelers are coming!" I shouted, "We need to move now! Let's go!" At my command, everyone got to the ground, and we all ran to a desolate place to plan out what we're going to do next.

Salt had to take a break because he was about to faint, and Lu was probably a few days away from birth. Moe said, "That sounds bad. Humans are bad, so that means the situation is bad." Oliver fainted, and something was wrong with Bandit. He seemed more tired than usual, and he was more protective of everyone.

I was going to talk to him, but Rooster beat me to it and said, "Bandit. Don't worry about it. His life is how it was, and he couldn't do anything about it. You can't change what will happen in the future either, so calm down." Bandit stared at him for a bit, and then he went to another tree. He's becoming more worrisome.

Jay said, "This is a mess. We need to-" "No" I said. "We need to find out what Ace is planning. It's just a hunch, but I think that Ace wants to take over the whole forest." Salt said, "He must be dumb. No one is going to follow a tyrant like him." Jay said, "He already leads half of the forest, and I think he's manipulating some of the Night Cats."

He was glancing at Storm when he said that, and Storm said, "Oh my god. He's pretending to be King Crow!"
