Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

A basket was delivered, and we put the kits inside. Grace said, "A perfect fit for five beautiful little kittens." Rooster finally got Oliver to get ready to go, and Jay was leading us for now. Cleo carried Jay, Salt, and Grace, and the dogs carried everyone else. Oliver whined, "This could lead to potential danger!" I said, "Come on! This is fun!"

Yuna was on a big dog with me because she was scared, and Echo asked, "What's so fun about being on a dog?" Rooster said, "The thrill." Right after he said that, Cleo howled, and the dogs started running to the forest. The dog carrying the basket was gentle with it, and Cleo said she would protect the basket at all costs.

When we got to the forest, Cleo didn't hesitate to stop. She plowed through, and so did the dogs. I shouted, "I can hear cats fighting at Ace's camp! Head to the east!" Cleo, and the dogs heard me, so they drifted towards the east. Some of the dog's tails caught of fire, so they had to stop and deal with it. Some would catch up, but some wouldn't come back.

A tree fell in Cleo's path, and she shouted, "Jump!" She jumped over the blazing tree, and so did all of the other dogs. All except for the dog with the basket. She tried to go around, but another tree got in the way. I jumped off of the dog, and Yuna shrieked, "Bandit! Wait!" I ran back to where the dog was, and I showed her another way around.

She quickly ran away, and right when I was going to hop on her back, a tree fell on my back leg, and broke it. I was stuck, so I yowled, "Help me!" It was hot, and the fire was going to reach my fur. I kept yowling for help, but no one was coming. I yowled one last time, and I collapsed. The smoke was getting into my lungs, and I couldn't move the log on my leg.

I shut my eyes, and decided to accept my fate. I teared at the fact that I'll never see Smoke or Birch again. Then I heard someone running over at a high speed. Before I could open my eyes to see who it was, Smoke's sent washed over my nose, and I started crying. Smoke quickly dug my leg out from under the log, and he dragged me away from the burning trees to a part that wasn't burning.

Smoke put me down, and he said, "It's okay now. You're safe." I opened my eyes, and I saw Smoke's paws. They were burned from him saving me. I wheezed, "Your paws..." He sat down and said, "I'm fine. You should be worrying about yourself." I looked up at him, and he was crying. I wanted to get up to comfort him, but I couldn't move.

Then I heard Lu shout, "Oh my god! Is that Bandit!?" Smoke said, "Please help him..." I sented Birch, Moe, Hero and Bell with her. Moe said, "What a horrible sight." Birch said, "I shouldn't have left if I knew that this would happen..." Hero calmly said, "You didn't know. No one did." Lu started to inspect my body. Then she whispered, "Are you feeling okay?" I said, "My leg is broken, what do you think? Other than that, I feel like I'm dying."

She flattened her ears and announced, "I'll do what I can. The rest is up to the gods." Birch padded up to me and put his muzzle in my fur. He whispered, "Please survive, my son." That touched my heart. He was the only one who called me son since I was a small kit. I purred and whispered, "Thank you."

He walked away, and and Lu said, "We need to move him away from the flames." Smoke said, "I know a place." Lu put me on Smoke's back, and we walked into the forest, away from the spreading flames.

We finally made it to Ace's camp. We lost Bandit, but his death won't be in vain. Birch is going to be sad though. Cleo ran into the battlefield full of blood, fur, and raging flames. The cats were still fighting. Cleo put me down, and Grace ran to the dog with the kits. Rooster led Salt to a safe place that is guarded by dogs, and I was ready to fight both sides of the forest.

Ace and Crow were nowhere to he found, so Storm, Rooster, Echo, Quinn, and I rushed in and started to fight. We stayed in a group, and fought off, or killed any cat that got near us. One of us would sometimes stray off to fight, but they came back when the going was rough. Other cats started to notice our presence, so some started attacking us.

Rooster said, "There isn't enough!" Then Cleo howled, and with that, the dogs started attacking with us. A cat yowled for Ace, and another yowled for Crow. Suddenly, two pet cats from each side came running in, and attacking. Molotov was in the mix, and he was fairly strong considering his age. The cats from both sides were still having trouble with us and the dogs, so once again, the cats yowled for help, and even more cats from both sides started pouring in.

After that, Crow and Ace came in to see a bunch of dogs and a group of cats fighting both of them. Ace said, "The rebellion has gone too far!" Crow said, "I wonder whose fault that is!" Ace growled at the fact that his plan was beginning to fall. Then he pulled out a walkie talkie and said, "Humans! I need backup!"

A human shouted, "We don't serve you anymore! You liar!" Ace's eyes widened, and he looked at us with dangerous eyes. Before he took action, a group of foxes jumped in, and Echo shouted, "Sea Biscuit!" A fox barked, and they all started attacking the cats against us. Behind the foxes was Birch and the rest of us.

Birch ran stood his ground, and shouted, "Rebels of the Rebellion of Truth! Attack!"
