Here are a few terms to get you familiar with the story: ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
[ Dharma ]
It is probably the most difficult word to translate. An abstract and most prevalent definition of Dharma is "right conduct" or "duty".
[ Chetra (xhetra) ]
A location or a region. Depending on context, it can be a village or a whole continent.
[ Chetrapaal (xhetra-paal) ]
A Ruler (generally a low-level deity) that governs a Chetra.
[ Dharmik ]
A person that follows his/her Dharma.
[ Samsara ]
The cycle of birth and rebirth. It is an illusionary reality of the universe that binds all the souls in creation to the material world. It is created by the Goddess Maya (literally meaning "illusion" or "that is not real"). Samsara also limits a soul's chance at enlightenment because it deviates the soul from the "Truth".
[ Prana ]
Literally meaning "life force". Prana is the reason why a being is alive. However, for the story's purposes, Prana is like Mana or Magic.
[ Shastra(s) ]
Teaching/School of thought/Manual/Arts etc. If an aspect of human life can be studied and the findings were to be compiled in one text, that text would be called Shastra. Literal meaning would be "instrument".
[ Mantra(s) ]
Special hymns and small-verses that can resonate with the Prana in the body and in the Universe. They are complicated Sanskrit texts, that have to be recited as is, sometimes with certain gestures.
[ Sutra(s) ]
Multiple Mantras compiled into one big verse becomes a Sutra. If Mantras were elementary mathematics, Sutras would be graduate level.
[ Vedas ]
When thousands of Sutras are refined for thousands of years, they slowly take the shape of Vedas. They are the oldest surviving ancient scriptures of not only Hinduism but the whole of humanity.
[ Devarshi ]
"Deva-Rishi" meaning "Lord of the Sages". Sages are people who cultivate Prana to achieve a higher state of being.
[ Sage ]
Sages have one and only priority, to reach enlightenment.
[ Rishi(s) ]
Rishis are scientists. A fun fact: all of the scientific findings of India from the last 2000 years ago came from Rishi(s). Few examples: Pythagoras, Pascal triangle, Distance between various stars and planets in the Milky way, Geometry, Trigonometry, Surgery, Binary System, Combinatorics, etc is all compiled into various books of Hinduism by Rishis of that time.
