After an agonisingly long picture taking session and a several short congratulatory greetings from unsavory people who were quick on their feet and somehow got wind of the jackpot, some immediately hit it off by starting to rabble about goodwill donations and high return investments, it took everything from Yulis in order to fight these ravenous hyenas off.
When Yulis managed to exit the building she was met with a large group of cameras ready to snap a picture, but this time Yulis lost it and used a combat technique to avoid the press, she dashed sideways and jumped into an alleyway before instantly climbing up towards the roof of a 3 storeys building next door.
The mob of camera wielding people were stunned, they were not expecting their target to immediately disappear, not only were they unable to snap a single picture but the target managed to escape their encirclement.
Once Yulis got home she quickly took a shower and slumped at her bed, today was a tiring day to her and she quickly shut downed her system.
The next day she decided to stay low for a while, she turned of the lights and removed any signs of any people living at the house. For a few days or so several people went knocking at her house, but she was already prepared with a box of instant noodles as her daily rations.
While cooped up in the house, she kept training her body while jotting down her guild's data base of informations, after a week or so people finally stopped bothering her. They figured that she was unmovable and stopped their fruitless attempts.
Yulis finally went out with a new set of list to do, now that she have money to spend she could start her shopping spree.
First of all she went to the Currency Trade Association or CTA, they were the world's largest credit bank, they have presence in all countries in the world.
Her target is to open a new account to store her new loot and obtain two premium card, one silver and three bronze , several card tier exists with several benefits first there's the normal card which holds Yulis's measly 40 credit and can store max 10k, next the premium card can store a max of 50k which holds guarantee of protection in case of theft and other benefits.
Then the card tiers that only those in the higher circle of society could obtain, first there's the bronze card which holds 100k max in the account in order to be active, it also have more benefits like being used to purchase exclusive goods from the Ordesia Society, a worldwide rare item trading site where rich dudes buy and sell there exclusive goods. Next there's the silver card that holds 500k, then the gold card which holds 1M, the platinum card holding 100M, the diamond card holding 1B.
After setting up a new account that holds her 930k, yulis stared at her bank balance and quietly cursed those hyenas who stole her money, they charged an enormous amount of money from their services, i mean where did they get the 5 credits worth of bottled water with tax! even the 1 million came with fucking tax! they almost bit away 10% off my winnings! it seems like that when i won the lottery the government also win the lottery with their 7% tax, outrageous!.
While yulis was cursing the government she finally arrived at the next building, the shopping district's largest building, a shopping mall owned by eternal heart corp. The mall was packed by youngsters, enthusiasm filled the air as they discussed the new game launching this week. The majority of them packed the rooms selling the standard virtual reality helmets.
But instead of joining them Yulis instead walked past them and continued to the fourth floor, her target isn't the standard helmets, instead she's after the specialized Virtual Reality Gaming Helmet.
The standard helmet, used for work, education, meetings, virtual planning etc. only have a maximum sync rate of 85% while gaming helmets have a maximum sync rate of 88, and the specialized helmets could reach 90% even with it's name it still couldn't break through the 90% threshold, only VR Pods could break the threshold and yet they could only reach 94% max.
Sync rate is something that measures a users in depth experience, the higher the percentage is the higher the realistic feeling will be.
Once Yulis entered the room, a group of sales lady observed the girl who just entered, taking note of her clothes then immediately dismissed her,"a poor bum" one of them stood up and walked towards the girl and forcefully smiled.
"excuse me miss what would you like to buy?"
"i would like to buy VR Helmet"
Did she lost her way or something? does she not know that the cheapest VR helmet here is 20k?! double the price of a standard VR Helmet these are the proper gaming helmet and not the standard ones! the sales lady scoffed and lost her smile.
"im sorry miss but i believe you lost your way, the ones your looking for is down at the first floor!"
"but i like it here, there's no long line and it isn't crowded" Yulis replied while looking around.
Say what?! is she stupid or something?! hmph! what a waste of time, "Alexis! come over here and service our dear customer here! please wait for my workmate to attend to you i am needed elsewhere" the sales lady snickered quietly as she watched a young girl shyly walked towards the poor bum, hah! you deal with that beggar! since you two are alike she inwardly sneered.
"h-hello... i mean! good morning miss i-uhm what can i.... uhm help youu...." her voice trailed off at her last words.
"ah! i would like to buy two of your latest Osense M-08 Experience Series for females please!" Yulis smiled at the shy sales girl that was younger than her.
"Ah! each of them costs 50,000 and because of this week's promo of 10% off on overall purchase since this week would be the release date of EOR, that would be
"Here" Yulis continued to smile while she handed her a bronze card.
The shy sales girl's eyes widened as she stared at the bronze card on her hands, this is the very first time she held a bronze card in her entire life!
When the girl returned with a bag and her change Yulis took the bag but refused to take the change and instead said. "keep it, consider it as your tip for working hard in this room filled with detestable persons, i suggest you look for other job that has a better workplace environment." Yulis remarked while walking towards the door and disappeared.
The shy girl could only drop her jaws while staring at the 10k credits in her hands, she joyfully ran towards the nearby bank to deposit her money, fortunately she isn't stupid enough to pocket it. She wasn't willing to just pocket it, leaving her post? who cares! i could get fired for all i care, i can just find another job just like what the girl said!
The older sales woman watched it all happen, she tried to throw the poor looking girl to the newbie, she thought that she would be watching the newbie embarrass herself and put on a good show but instead she catched a fat one and not only that but she got a 10k as tip! 10k as a tip!! she dearly regretted doing her previous actions!
The goddess of luck decided to dropp a big fat juicy steak in her hands but she couldn't stop judging people by their looks and threw it to the newbie who was more than willing to swallow it whole! her heart bled dearly at the thought of losing 10k credits, the group of saleswoman suddenly adopted a gloomy atmosphere as they jealously watched the distant young girl going up to the next floor to deposit her money, while they imagined what they could do with 10k credits.
"To think that i would meet Alexis here... no it would be Alexandria..*sigh* even that mere money i gave her could never repay all of the things that she have done for me." Yulis recalled some memories before returning to reality. "if i ever meet her in game, i would surely repay all of what she has done."
Before going home Yulis bought groceries to cook, since today is the day her little sister would be returning home. Hailing a taxi cab she arrived home and started cooking her little sister's favorite food, spaghetti and chicken wings.
Just as Yulis finished preparing the table, the front door opened and a cute voice greeted her ears.
"im home!" a small adorable girl shouted while removing her shoes.
Yulis almost ran towards the corridor leading to the front door to greet her sister. "welcome home sis!"
The moment Yulis opened the door on the corridor, the sweet aroma of the food that she cooked escaped and reached the small nose of the little girl.
*sniff* *sniff* "huh? are you cooking something?" askes the little sister in confusion. They were a poor family, she already accepted the fact and immediately got used to it, the food that she was used eating were cheap bread, instant noodles, cheap canned goods or cheap frozen foods.
Even in her birthdays she doesn't expect a cake to be prepared for her, their family would never celebrate any occasions since their parents would alway be at work. But she never resented her parents, she knew that they were working hard for her. Even her older brother was forced to join the military scholarship, and she and her older sister separated in order to go to separate schools with scholarships.
In summer days when she and her sister reunited, her older sister would work for summer jobs in order to give her a little bit better foods to eat, even when she would alway remind her that she didn't have to do it, her older sister would always sneak away and come back with toys and expensive but delicious foods.
"don't tell me that you..." she immediately frowned and crossed her arms.
"oh don't worry, i actually found a good paying job lately" Yulis giggled at her adorable little sister.
"don't hehe! me! don't you know how lone- err didn't i told you to stop bothering with working already? our parents are already doing that so you don't have to do it, don't you see that your.... "
The little sister couldn't do anything but scold her, every time yulis goes out to work, she would alway be left behind with nothing to do but watch tv or browse the net, she couldn't stay with her aunt forever they couldn't bother her anymore than that.
Yulis clenched her chest as she listened to her little sister scolding her, back then she was incredibly naive, she thought that by working summer jobs and buying her toys and good food then maybe she could fill in the void in her heart that her parents failed to do, but instead she only made it worst. Yulis suddenly lunged forward and hugged her small sister, her sudden actions suprised her little sister.
Unaware that yulis actually hid her teary eyes by burying her face unto the girls chest. "i missed you so much"
Fortunately im not too late, i could still fix my previous mistakes. . . . . . .
"err.... i missed you too?" her little sister could only reply with confusion.
After making sure that her eyes were dry, yulis stood up and patted her little sister im the head. "i prepared a bath for you go and take a bath while i'll unpack your bag for you and prepare your towel and a change of clothes"
She could only shake her head and stomp her way to the bathroom.
Yulis then checked her bag and frowned at the sight of her sister's clothes, old, faded and clothes that barely fit her filled her bag. Even her undergarments have holes. "this won't do, good thing i brought her a new pair of clothes earlier, a good older sister must know her little sister's body size and measurements in order to buy new clothes for her even without measuring her, but then again one pair would not do, we'll go out tomorrow and go shopping." Yulis grinned ear to ear while developing devious plans.
Once her little sister was finished taking a bath she was shocked to see a new set of clothes, a new underwear that surprisingly fits her, a cute little skirt with frills and a shirt that have words plastered in it that says "world's cutest little sister".
She immediately donned an angry face, ready to berate yulis for going out to buy new clothes for her, but once she met yulis she could only slump into the chair facing the table filled with food, she immediately noticed that yulis was still wearing her old clothes and that immediately put a sour look on her face.
Yulis didn't touch her food and patiently waited, she couldn't just ruin the atmosphere that yulis built for her, a warm bright comforting home with delicious food on the table. It's unrealistic, this is the first time she have ever felt like this, her aunt couldn't replicate this feeling, since she would always eat cold refrigerated foods on her room, her aunt would just leave food on the fridge for her to eat. Like her parents her aunt would also go out to work and go back late at night drunk.
"Hey the foods are getting cold, stop daydreaming and start eating" yulis jokingly poked her cheeks.
"im eating im eating!" she replied as she picked up a piece of chicken wing and chomped on it.
Yulis pulled her chair closer to her and asked. "Eara? how's my cooking!"
"it's actually surprisingly good! where did you learn how to cook?" Eara replied with a full mouth.
"oh i learned it just for you" yulis replied while preparing a plate of spaghetti and rolling some in a fork and pulled it in front of her sister's mouth. "ahhh"
Eara closed her eyes and opened her mouth to gobble up the spaghetti, while chewing she suddenly opened her eyes even wider than before and practically screamed. "im not a baby!"
Yulis simple giggled and replied. "but you looked cute! especially with those new clothes i picked up for you"
"shaddap!" Eara screamed once more before adopting a gloomy face. "Yulis... will you be... going out tomorrow to.... work...?" Eara meekly replied with a hint of sadness in her voice.
"Nope!" Yulis simply responded with a mouth full of spaghetti.
Eara widened her eyes once more. "b-but where did you get all the money from, in order to buy these food?"
She thought for a moment before suddenly gasping. "don't tell me.... you got the money from shady means.... like going on night hotels with strangers, like old men, fat men, bald men, old fat bald men...."
"I did no such things!" Yulis almost choked on her food.
"then how?" she asked with exasperated tone to which Yulis replied by pointing her finger at a box placed in the corner.
"nerve gea- i mean virtual reality helmet?"
"yup! i found i high paying job by testing out new stuff on game development"
"like a beta tester?"
"nah nah, like testing out skill movements and other stuff"
"really?" Eara asked suspiciously.
"yep and i only have to do it at night so i can have time to spend with you on day time!"
"ah! uhm... excuse me.... i need to go to the toilet" eara said and suddenly bolted away.
