An old, small piece of paper with 'something' written on it, flew in the skies of Azure and Cerulean for the past few days and no one could ever catch it. People talked about it everywhere. No one knew from where it came or what secret it held. All they knew was that it's a piece of paper and nothing else.
That was the case all the time, for centuries. A dusty old paper that not a single person was able to squeeze in their hands.
They called it the mysterious 'Butterfly' paper.
And it was the first time it flew north, to those two regions.
It was a sunny noon in April and the bustling and blooming Cornflower city—the capital of Cerulean—had the most delightful springtime of all the other cities in Plus.
A beautiful land full of flowers and cheers. Birds chirping and people with endless joyous chattering. The air also seemed more active here than in other places.
A little boy who stood on the street's walkway opposite to the Watts Academy building, holding his busy mother's hand as she chatted through her phone, spotted the paper and pointed at it. "Hey mom! look!"
As her hat shook a bit from the winds, the mother turned her face to the skies, "Oh! I see," she stared at it in disinterest as it fluttered in the winds along the bright sun. Her long skirt has witnessed a strong breeze heading towards them, warning her to mind her own business. "Come on. Let's go!" She said in a hurry and continued her chatter, pulling his hand as she walked down the street.
Since it was spring, the season of new beginnings, it was also the first day of a new academic year--and of the month too--, but a certain someone seemed to not be enjoying it.
History classes are boring! Alex groaned from the inside, staring at the ceiling of the classroom with a bored face as the piece of paper finally got stuck in the slightly open window that was close to him.
Even a pigeon thought it was something important and came knocking on the window while trying to eat it.
No one paid attention to it, but Alex, who did due to his curiosity, turned his face and saw the bird trying to take the piece of paper. He looked at the window with surprise and tried to reach out to it, but then the teacher turned and he immediately got back to his position, trying to focus on the lesson.
The bird gave up and flew away. Alex sighed in relief as he saw the paper still intact on the window. He couldn't move and try to get it in the middle of the class, even though he was at the last bench, as the teacher was facing the students now rather than turning her back.
He gave up and thought of getting it later, after the class, but the piece of paper went loose and continued flying back again. He didn't notice that and forgot about it as he had to focus on the lesson.
But his focus didn't last for too long.
He turned his face to his twin brother sitting right next to him, who was focused on the lesson more than him, and asked him quietly, "Hey, are you excited for the tournament this year?"
John nodded in agreement, but didn't say a word.
"I bet it'll be awesome," he smirked, "You won't be joining of course, 'cause you're weak, but you can cheer me on as I destroy my opponents,"
John smiled, He thinks I won't be coming, but I'll show him that I'm stronger. He thought with a determined look.
"Is someone whispering in the back!?" asked the history teacher, Miss Violet.
"N-No ma'am, no one, everything's alright." John replied in defense of his brother.
Both of them were seated in the back with the gang of delinquents, whom Alex fights with sometimes as they bully his nerdy twin brother. They were all either asleep or trying to escape from the class. Alex was no exception. He tried escaping before, but failed a couple of times, so he sat with boredom as he had no one to cheer him up except for his brother, who is more interested in history in comparison.
In terms of fighting and electro skills John wasn't so great, but Alex cared more about developing his physical abilities rather than mental like his brother and so he always came out first in electro and martial arts' classes. John on the other hand only managed to score good in magic casting and of course, theoretical subjects.
Although some positives acted like negatives, it was normal since they used to live together before. Miss Violet was just teaching that.
"There was a time when both sides lived peacefully as one family, but that wasn't for too long since they were destined to fight against each other no matter what.
"Whether it's over land or neutral energy, it's always been like this ever since the beginning and it will never stop." She explained to the students.
She then explained about the historical monument known as the Great Neutral Wall and why it is important. What it was made of, its ins and outs and its creator, Neutron, one of the supreme guardians who is said to live inside the neutral core.
"Of course, the King is hiding that by saying that he is the one who ordered to build it to maintain peace between the two nations." She said.
"But are you sure? What if he was right?" John asked.
Luna, daughter of Zack Triton, a billionaire chairman of a tech giant called Trident, replied, "We still don't know why he said that. Is there any legitimate reason behind what he said?
"It might be to maintain peace as he said since he is a pacifist king, but he could always simply just draw borders between the two sides without a wall even if we are the ones who discovered the neutral energy and gave rise to the neutrals and helped them grow.
"Unless he is afraid that the negatives will cross the borders which they won't because of the land and the people who would infect them with positive energy. The only reason why someone would build a wall is to not allow the two sides to live together in peace, which is wrong because even if there are certain limitations we can still cope with it."
"No, we can't, the two sides can't live together peacefully and the wall was built to avoid war which would break out eventually if the wall wasn't built."
"It wasn't to avoid war, It's in fact to protect the neutrals against both sides. Therefore, I think it's Neutron who built it."
"But even without a legitimate reason to say that, I still believe what he said was true since he always wanted peace and it would make sense if he built a wall between the two sides."
While the two were arguing, Alex got even more bored and the delinquents sitting beside him were making an escape plan. But even though he was bored from this topic of debate, he wanted to visit the wall as it piqued his intrigue; a bit of a trait he got from his brother. Yet for the most part he didn't care about anything nerdy or theoretical.
After the two finished the conversation and were seated, Alex asked, "Hey ma'am? Why do we have to study history? It's so boring."
The delinquents barked, "Yeah! Why do we have to!?" and were supporting him.
Meanwhile, everyone in the front and middle were looking at them.
Then Luna urged, "Can you please shut up and let this class finish already?!" and started arguing with them.
"No! We won't do that until you explain to us!" They yelled.
John facepalmed, "Ugh...," and interfered, "Because it's important! Now please shut up and listen to the teacher's explanation. She'll tell you everything you need to know."
"Hmph! You're the one to talk, big guy! Let's see what you'll say once I punch your face a hundred times," One delinquent snarled at him.
"We want a proper explanation!" they demanded.
"There's no proper explanation, just shut up!" Luna urged them to stop, again.
While they were arguing, the teacher slammed the table with both her hands and yelled, "Enough! If you want to know the reason, then here it goes..." She took the pen and wrote on the board, 'So we don't repeat the same mistakes.'
With that, the whole class was silenced.
She went on explaining about the history and origins of Electro.
"Prota and Anta were the first two positive and negative electro-humans respectively to ever inhabit Electro. Prota was the first male while Anta was the first female as well.
"Both had to live together and bring children. However, if a positive and a negative were to bring children, they would all be negatives according to the mathematical equation theory introduced by the famous physicist and biologist Dr. Nick Volt in the tenth century AN." She explained.
After cleaning the board, she wrote on it in signs, 'Plus into minus equals to minus. Minus into minus equals to plus. Plus into plus equals to plus.' She continued by saying, "The theory states that a positive will always be born by two positives and also by two negatives, but the negatives always use a transformation ritual to make their children turn into negatives.
"However, if a positive and a negative were to be married they would bring negatives only. This theory was proven to be true. With that being said, Prota and Anta brought twin boys and twin girls, who were all negatives.
"A lot went through the family as Prota argued and fought with Anta continuously over the children for years. Then Prota finally took one of the girls and one of the boys and turned them to positives in the first transformation ritual to ever be performed. That made Anta furious and because of that Prota and Anta fought with even more hatred, trying to nearly kill each other until Neutron came from under the ground and stopped them.
"He built a wall called the Neutral wall in the middle of the land by simply forming neutral rocks from beneath the surface that came out of the ground and told Prota to take his two children that he turned to positives and go to the other side of the wall. By doing that, the two civilizations were born."
"But ma'am, from where did Prota and Anta come?" John asked.
Alex replied, "There used to be rumors that humans specifically scientists from the planet earth were the ones who created them by experimenting electricity on normal humans and after they were created they posed a threat to their lives so they sent them to a distant planet that we call today as Electro."
"O-Of course those are just rumors. The truth as we all know it, is that Neutron is the one who created them and split Electro into two halves." Miss Violet explained. "The reason of doing that is unknown, when he could've simply made us all neutrals like him."
"I think all he wanted was to test and experiment on how positives and negatives could live together, but when he found out it wasn't possible with Prota and Anta, he made both of them establish their own lands and live separately." said Luna.
"Ah yeah, sure, that could be a possibility."
"It was also said that before the first century AN, there used to be ancient neutrals who lived as a civilization of immortal beings before Neutron wiped them out because they behaved like humans; some sided with good and some with evil. After that he created Prota and Anta who he wanted to experiment with, like Luna said" John added, backing up Luna's theory.
"But how did they get wiped out if they were immortal?" asked Alex.
"Some say they were still alive in the form of the neutral energy as their body decomposed and their soul and energy mixed with the soil and with time went through to the core and created the neutral core that Neutron is said to live inside." John replied. "And some say that they were still alive after the disaster and escaped to another planet."
"Anyways, those are just theories that some historians made, that you and some people who said it before might have believed. But we all know that Neutron is the one who created Prota and Anta and therefore us!" explained Miss Violet. "Before Prota and Anta were created, there were no neutrals at all except for him! Ohh, how magnificent he is! And how I love him!" she closed her eyes, held her cheeks and was daydreaming for a minute.
"Umm...Miss Violet? Hello?" —Luna waved at her— "Miss? Ma'am!" she called her out.
"Ah-ha!? I-I'm terribly sorry, my mind just went away for a minute. Yes?" she replied.
"Are you a Neutron worshiper?" Luna asked.
Everyone started laughing and Miss Violet was embarrassed.
"Uhh...no, I mean yes of course!" she confessed unintentionally as her cheeks turned red. "Hey everyone stop!"
Everyone stopped laughing.
She took the pen once again and started writing on the board while the students are talking in the back.
"What's so funny about that?" Luna asked the students silently.
No one replied at first because they were afraid of the teacher, but then Luna was annoyed, and murmered, "Come on, say something!" which forced them to answer.
So one of the students replied quietly, "Because no one here worships Neutron, we all worship Silver Moon," and then another student said, "Yes, because she is the most merciful and beautiful supreme guardian!"
After that, a blond haired, green eyed boy with fox ears and a tail shaped like a lightning bolt named Pico Rhodos, who was sitting in the middle of the class, had a crush on Luna, but he had the guts to confess to her, and so he added, "And you're just as beautiful as her, Luna!"
She blushed and her voice escalated, "What!? Sh-shut up! You pervert!"
John reasoned, "B-But he's right, you look just like her!"
She didn't realize that her name meant moon and that she was silver-haired.
"What!? You too John? I'm disappointed. I thought you weren't that type."
"Are you for real? He just said the truth."
"But it's flirting, you pervert!"
"Can you please stop saying that word? I know it's flirting but--"
"Just shut up!"
Luna was angry, but felt a little sad about what she said to these two. She soon cooled down and forgot about it. John was also sad and didn't say a word to her after that, but he didn't care because he wasn't at fault for what happened.
Then Pico's twin sister, Pika, who was sitting beside him, punched his right shoulder.
"Ouch, hey that hurts!" he said with agony.
She replied, "That's because you hurt my best friend's feelings!"
"What? If anything, that should've made her happy."
"No it won't, you fool! And that's not how you confess to her. Now you got rejected!"
"I know right." He replied with a frown and sighed.
After that, Miss Violet finished writing while everyone was talking. She turned around and said, "Now everyone listen, I want your attention please!"
Before she started explaining, Luna interrupted, "By the way, that theory I said before was made by me, Miss Violet!"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever, let's continue."
"Hmph!" Luna turned her face away with a pouting face.
As Miss Violet was annoyed from Luna's behavior, so did Luna.
"Anyways, my point still stands, Neutron was one of the ancient neutrals." Luna insisted on her theory.
Miss Violet started rambling about her beloved. "No, he wasn't, he was the only neutral and was a supreme guardian, an immortal supreme being and he created us with his own supreme power and--"
"Ugh, anyways, there's no point in arguing anymore. We'll just waste more time. Now let's just continue our lesson."
Miss Violet agreed, "Yes, you're right," and continued explaining the lesson to the students.
