After the history class finished and the teacher left, everyone was going to the electro and martial arts class while Pico was sitting, laying his head on the desk with a depressed face. His sister was looking at him angrily while getting ready for the next class.
John went to him, trying to cheer him up and asked, "Hey dude, are you alright?"
"Leave him be, he deserves it." Pika replied.
"Come on, you don't have to be harsh on him."
Alex came and said, "Whoa, this guy got rejected? Must have felt really bad, huh?"
"No! He didn't, stop saying that, Alex!"
"Okay, okay, I won't, but isn't she supposed to help him since she's his sister? I mean if you didn't want your bestie to be hurt, then why didn't you back him up by agreeing to his statement and saying that 'She is as beautiful as Silver Moon'.
"If you did that, I'm pretty sure she would've accepted that as a compliment from you and him rather than flirting, since you are her friend."
Pika didn't say anything and her face changed from angry to sad. She realized that it was her fault that both her brother and her best friend were hurt. Moreover, she had feelings for Alex and didn't want to say anything because she was shy from him.
"Oh. My. Goddess! Alex you're a genius!" John exclaimed and hugged him.
"Hmph! Well, what can I say, I'm strong, attractive and a genius too just like my brother."
"Don't get so full of yourself, though." He whispered to his ear with a smug face and released him.
"What!? Who's the one that protects you against those delinquent bullies, you weakling!"
"I know, but I'm still better in magic, strategy and tactical skills and I'm faster than you too, not to mention I'm still smarter than you even if you brought this idea before me. So yeah, I can still manage to escape them always and don't really need your help."
"What!?" Alex pushed him, clenched one of his fists, raised it at him and was about to punch him, "You ungrateful bast--"
"Guys, can you stop fighting, please?" said Pico with a depressed voice while lifting his head and looking at them, "I'm alright, so don't worry about me."
Alex lowered his fist and said with an aggravated face, "Well, if you say so."
He took his bag and went to the door to leave the classroom.
John called him to come back, but he ignored him. "H-Hey Alex wait!" he bellowed. "I'm sorry, Okay!?"
"Tsk, yeah, whatever." He said in an irritated tone and left.
"Ugh, I screwed it once again, didn't I?" John murmured and sighed.
He then turned his attention to Pika, who still didn't reply or even leave because she wanted to say something to her brother, but not in front of Alex or John.
"You do realize what you did, Pika, don't you? You could've solved this problem, but you left it to unfold and now both your best friend and your brother hate each other and are depressed because of you."
"Shut up! It's not my fault, Okay!?" she cried.
"Yes it is. Listen, I know that you have feelings for my brother and that you want revenge from Pico, but don't let that affect your decision."
"What do you mean?" Pico asked.
"Don't you remember? Two years ago? When you told Alex that Pika had a crush on him and he rejected her? I think he forgot about it too."
"Is that the reason why she didn't defend me when I got rejected?"
"Probably."
Pika slammed both her hands on her brother's desk angrily, "T-That's not true!" she shouted, then slowly cooled down as she frowned and said quietly, "I just...Didn't realize it...That's it."
"Is that so? Then why didn't you apologize to Pico till now?"
Pika looked at him with a shocked face and was trembling with fear. "W-What!? W-What do you mean!?"
John looked back at her with suspicion. "What happened? You seem to be shaking."
"S-So what!? K-Keep talkin'!"
"Well, you're afraid to do it, because if you did, it would've been obvious that you left your brother to be rejected because you wanted revenge from him.
"You thought Alex would remember what happened two years ago and think that you wanted revenge, right?"
"But your brother doesn't even remember to begin with." Pico argued.
"Yes, but I do and that's why she's waiting for me to go so she could apologize to you."
Pika became furious at first, but then she sighed and calmed down. She turned sad once again and lowered her face in defeat.
"Anyways, so are you coming, Pico?" John asked.
"Yes, but first let me hear her apology."
"Okay then, see you outside." He said while leaving the classroom.
"So?" Pico asked while putting his legs one above the other on his desk and folding his arms.
Pika lifted her face and looked at him with annoyance. "Ugh...okay, I'm sorry."
He stood and took his bag, "Good, then let's go!" he said cheerfully.
