Chapter 27 - arya moretti's unbelievable ability

Kieran's POV

It was at that precise moment that Arya had decided to walk in, two coffees in hand and a bright smile on her face. That same bright smile immediately being shredded to pieces with an instant as the coffees smashed against the ground.

"What the hell is he doing here?" She snapped, breathing deeply and backing up against the wall before flinching, registering the position she had put herself in.

"Arya, calm down. He's-"

"Calm down?" She shouted. "You're telling me to calm down on behalf of the man that held a goddamn knife to my throat? Shit, Cara."

She nodded. "He's been giving us some information, that doesn't mean we trust him in the slightest."

I reached out carefully to touch Arya's arm, watching as she flinched. But she had had anger bubbling up in her for years and I could feel the rage radiating off of her skin.

"I'm going to slit your throat." She hissed.

"Arya-" I started.

But before I could utter even a sentence, she'd snatched the knife from my pocket and was staring at it intensely.

And then, watching in amazement and horror as the knife lifted itself into the air and sliced through the air until It was directly in front of the man's face.

His wide eyes pleaded with me.

I turned her body to face me. "Arya, you're not a killer. Don't be like him."

She pulled her lip between her teeth and closed her eyes, taking a deep breath then allowing the knife to slam against the floor.

"How did you do that?" Cara breathed out.

"Family gene. My grandma was similar. I have.. abilities. So to speak."

"You could say that." She whispered, sighing. "Did anyone know?"

Arya nodded. "Elodie, she walked in on me practising once a couple months ago."

I stopped her. "So you're saying your parents don't have these abilities."

She shook her head. "Why do you think they created the system in the first place? They were jealous. It's why they tried to have me killed. I refused to be their weapon and in return they sentenced me to death."

Elodie's POV

"Do it again." Noah giggled, watching as the sunflower elevated in front of him, flying off into the distance.

We'd had a reunion when Noah and Bryony had been brought back to us, having been staying with a trusted individual that then scattered off to another country. Yet another person exposed to danger because of us.

But everything was reasonably okay.

Arya had her time with Ethan, or so she called him. Terrifying the breath out of him until he was left completely and utterly dumbfounded.

It was not Arya's style to admit that she'd been in love with him, and it wasn't the knife that hurt her. I didn't think this would be any exception and I happened to be correct.

She didn't really speak to any of us, instead resorting to terraforming yet again into the sisterly role she'd taken on in our little deformed family. Perching next to Bryony on the lime green grass, sprawling her feet out beside the two.

She showed them how she used her magic, creating a little whirlpool of flowers and flicking her finger until it hit Bryony on the nose, emitting a childish giggle out of her.

Noah and Bryony had their childhood ripped from their hands and I was glad they were being given little pieces of it back now. I suppose it is better late than never.

It was also then we started our research, research into the Moretti family, research into Arya's abilities and research into my name. And who might want to scatter it enough to follow us for all these years. It was only when we were introduced to 'Energía' that things changed, we realised that there was a lot more in our universe we'd never understood and honestly never would. Arya was a 'bruja' as they called it in the book, or a witch in ours. And honestly, with time, she could hold more power than we could possibly imagine.

She was that missing puzzle piece that'd been lurking on my mind the whole time.

We knew now she could be trusted, having admitted that if it wasn't for her, Cara would be dead. She wasn't trained medically in the slightest, she knew a 'hechizo' or a spell that would save Cara's life. And it did.

We owed our sanity to Arya Moretti, the daughter of an evil family however someone we welcomed into our family with wide arms.

So, when she suggested her plan, nobody faulted her logic.

Plus, I think we were all a little keen to be involved in a plan that could possibly blow up the kingdom. If it went correctly.
