Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

The year 2008

The night market is a spectacular and colorful market. From one end to the other, one can see a dense mass of human heads moving about restlessly under the bright neon lights of the hand-carts and stalls.

On one of the food stalls, a little face carved like jade with short, wavy hair that covers the tiny ears beneath them belonged to a little boy who was standing there and eating mooncakes with his adorable hands.

While he was silently enjoying his food, a young tender voice sliced through the silence at the stall. The next second, a precious looking girl emerged from nowhere.

Standing behind the crowd, the girl whizzed beneath all their legs, took big steps, and ran forward. Whit a small frame, she seemed to be six to seven years old.

She asked for two candied hawthorns from the vendor and started eating them delightfully while standing next to the boy. Noticing the little violin on his shoulder, she inquired him, "Do you know how to play the violin?"

The boy looked at her. The first thing he noticed was her beautiful smile then her inquisitive eyes which were full of life. She was practically radiating as she enjoyed the sour and sweet taste of the candies in her hand.

Her eyes were so bright that he couldn't ignore them and finally replied, "Yes."

She further asked him a question regarding the tunes he knew and if he could play for her while being polite.

The girl reminded him of cherry blossom; her cheeks pink and eyes lively like spring. Long, black hair, shinning all along. There was a single pin holding back the loose hair strands from her face.

After considering for few minutes, he agreed to play and started playing Winter of Vivaldi. While he was playing, the girl smiled and interrupted him after a minute.

"Well this is composed by someone else, isn't it? Why don't you make something by yourself, you're quite good at it."

The little girl hummed while enjoying her food. Her curious eyes peered everywhere, not wanting to miss out on a single detail. Everything about the food market fascinated her. It was so beautiful and lively with lots of people and happy faces. She was in awe.

The edges of her denim dress flowed with the wind. He couldn't help but notice every small detail about her. The prominent dimples when she smiled. The red on her nails.

He had never encountered a creature like her. She just looked so full of life as if she was glowing in this dark night. He realized that in comparison to her, he was so dull and gray.

After a while, he asked her "Than would like to make a new one along with me?"

"Sure why not." She replied happily and continued while pointing her finger towards the bench visible behind the stall over the grass area, "But not today, I need to go. But let's meet tomorrow over that bench in the afternoon. My house is just around the corner."

After both of them agreed, she began to leave with a lady standing not far away from them who didn't look like her mother, when suddenly she turned around and shouted, "I am called Saki and you?"

To which the boy answered, "Fei Hong".
