I stare at the candy wrapper in a daze. All I can think about is why Lyde was jealous, I just don't understand.
Suddenly I feel a hand gently placed on my arm, glancing up, I'm met with Will's kind smile.
"Hey, are you okay?" He asks me sweetly, I nod.
"Yeah sorry, I guess I was just dozing off while waiting for the next game to be ready," I reply while placing a smile on my lips.
"Oh okay, just checking because you seemed to be in deep thought, remember you can always talk to me, okay?" Will says while looking into my eyes. I flash him a smile and nod, he smiles back then puts his attention back to Brendon.
A few moments later Gregory sets up the next game on the tv, Super Smash Bros. I reposition myself on the couch, as my excitement grows. Gregory hands out the controllers to everyone and we all choose our characters. I choose Zero suit Samus, like always as I am the best at her. Mia chooses Kirby, Will chooses Marth, Brendon Little Mac, Josh Sheik, Gregory Link, and Lyde chooses Donkey Kong.
The game starts and for the first few seconds all you can hear are buttons being pressed aggressively. I move my player to the bottom section of the map and sit there. A few seconds of just chilling there I spot Lyde's character, Donkey Kong, making its way down to my area. He finally gets down to where I am but doesn't do anything, he is just there with me. Mia's player comes down and as soon as she lands on the ground Lyde starts attacking her. Mia manages to get away from him which leaves me and him down there again, he still isn't fighting me which is super confusing.
I lean towards Mia and whisper,
"Look at my player, Lyde is also there but he isn't fighting me, what is he doing?"
Mia looks to where me and Lyde's players are,
"I will come down there again," she whispers. Everyone else is yelling and getting mad at each other, because they are actually fighting and playing the game. Mia brings her player down and she stands behind me. We watch as Lyde moves towards us and starts fighting us. I begin fighting him and comboing him, but soon realize that he isn't going after me, he's going after Mia again. Mia kills him and we both have a mini dance party. Lyde quickly sneaks a glance at us then continues playing the game once his character respawns.
Will, Brendon, Gregory, and Josh have all died, leaving me, Mia and Lyde still alive. I sneak behind Mia and knock her off the edge, making her scream at me furiously.
"How....dare....you....I...feel...hurt...." Was all she says to me, but not even two seconds later she whispers, "Now kill Lyde," I nod and make my way to the bottom area once again.
I wait for Lyde. He finally arrives and I stand there for a bit, seeing if he would do anything.
"Go," Mia seriously whispers in my ear. I quickly do as told and move my character towards his, he's still standing there not doing anything. I take the opportunity and start attacking him. He doesn't do anything at first but soon starts fighting back. Concentrating super hard, thumbs dancing over the buttons I combo him and eventually kill him.
Mia pats my back but stops when she sees Lyde's player respawn one last time. I wait for him to come to me. Once his character's feet touch the ground I run towards him and start fighting him. This time he is actually doing some damage to my player. In the corner of my eyes I see Mia punching the air everytime I hit Lyde, I chuckle and suddenly my character is flung into the air. I push the joystick downwards with all my strength, trying to get my player back on the ground and not die. Once I land, a power up spawns right in front of me. I quickly use it and am brought into a ship with a gun, I start shooting Lyde's player with the gun. I hit him once which shoots him up into the sky and kills him.
"Waaahhhhh, I won again!!!!!!" I scream and shove a candy in my mouth, I turn towards Mia and we start laughing happily.
"I'm so proud of you Lia!!!!" Mia screams into my ears as she squeezes me tight in her embrace.
"Ahh," Will sighs, "I have raised you well!" He says while clasping his hand together.
"Uh what do you mean I raised her well, I think you mean we raised her well," Brendon says sounding hurt. Will turns towards Brendon and holds his face in his hands.
"I'm sorry hun," Will sweetly says while looking deeply into his boyfriend's eyes. Brendon blushes and turns away shy from his baby's actions.
"Look you made him all shy!" I whisper in Will's ear.
"He may seem like a tough bad boy, but he really is just a big baby who craves love and attention," he says making us both giggle.
