There's no need for the last four names to be called, but the announcer and man in the suit do so anyway. Up above, it's Raito versus Usana, and down where we are it's Natsuri versus Okiguma. "We should watch both of these fights carefully..." I whisper to Gentarō.
"How come?" He asks, keeping his eyes on the arena.
"Because Natsuri and Usana are both student council president candidates... There's a chance we might go up against one of them in the next round."
"I see I see, well then, let's keep a close eye on them both." Gentarō grins, more excited to see them fight than focus on how they fight for sure, so once again, it's up to me to put my focus on both fights at the same time. This should be really easy considering I've done this before, however, the second the battle is allowed to start, Natsuri starts bouncing off the barrier rapidly, leaving a bright teal streak in her path. She moves so rapidly that the bright teal color completely blocks the screen, every single screen for that matter.
"S-She's blocking the screens..!" I whisper yell.
"She's not doing it on purpose." Gentarō states. "This is just the way she fights."
"H-How do you know..?!" I look at Gentarō to see his hair and eyes glowing white.
"Because of the smile she's got on her face of course." He grins.
"You can...see that..?" I look at the blur of bright teal, but I can't make out anything.
"All you have to do is focus. You did it before right? You've got this." Gentarō ruffles my hair. He's right, I just did it moments ago with the battle directly after ours. So, I repeat the same process as before. I shut off my mind, focus only on what's directly in front of me, and then I can see her. I can actually see Natsuri herself bouncing off the barrier rapidly instead of just a bright teal flash of light, and I can see Okiguma in the center of it all. He looks nervous, but his eyes and hair are glowing yellow as well, and he's smiling.
Despite all the loud noise, I can hear both Natsuri and Okiguma perfectly. "You may be fast, but that doesn't scare me!" Okiguma throws a punch and a yellow colored force exerts from his fist, flying at the bright flash of teal that is Natsuri.
Natsuri stops in her tracks just before the force hits her, the yellow force smacking into the barrier instead. "You're open!" She says giddily and jumps off the barrier toward Okiguma. He moves out of the way just in the nick of time, but Natsuri's lyte, a teal cheetah with the proper cheetah print, clings to her back and fires a laser from its mouth, scraping Okiguma's side.
"Gh! That stings!" He jumps back and holds his side, watching as Natsuri begins bouncing off the barrier in rapid succession once more. This all happens so fast I only get a glimpse of the screen before Natsuri starts bouncing again, and what I saw was Raito getting nicked by a pink spike.
"Damn, that doesn't tell me anything..!" I grumble internally, but keep hold of my focus.
"Damn! Again then!" Okiguma tries the same trick, but not only does it fail, he receives a punch and another burn from Natsuri and her lyte. However, before Natsuri can start bouncing off the walls again completely, Okiguma throws another punch in her direction the second she zooms past him despite just getting hit himself. Unfortunately for him, Natsuri reacts with impeccable speed, doing a backflip while still in motion to not only dodge the yellow force from Okiguma's punch, but bounce off the barrier once more to give him another bruise with a kick and another burn from a laser.
Natsuri once again starts bouncing off the barrier rapidly while Okiguma groans in frustration and pain. "Damn..! So this is a student council president candidate huh..?! Well, in that case..!" Okiguma just starts punching and kicking in every direction, releasing a yellow force with every thrust and swipe of his arms and legs. Unfortunately for him, Natsuri is faster, and with every punch and kick he attempts, she simply lands another hit with a punch/kick and a laser beam, if not both.
"That's it!" Okiguma suddenly shouts, glowing in a yellow aura to signify he's finally getting a boost from his lyte, a yellow rhino that's horn horn sticks out and glows along with Okiguma's spiky hair. In one swift motion, he crosses his arms, spins around, and quickly spreads his arms back out and sends out a yellow force in a perfect circle. The instant he finishes moving however, Natsuri jumps off the barrier one last time and breaks through his force with her speed, swiftly uppercutting him with her palm. Okiguma stumbles back and falls to the ground, knocked out like a light. The man in the suit counts to five, and that's all she wrote.
"Natsuri is the winner." The man in the suit says.
"Yeah! I won! Eat that!" Natsuri hops up and down happily, hugging her teal cheetah. I quickly look to the screen, but it's already over on that end as well. Raito is lying face down on the ground, covered in cuts, and Usana is deemed the winner.
"Great, we missed the whole thing..." I mutter.
"Another amazing fight nonetheless though!" Gentarō grins beside me. I sigh, and after a few pointless announcements are made; battles will be randomized tomorrow as well, we'll still be using both arenas, etc, everyone is allowed to leave school for the day. Everyone who fought is checked by professional doctors and such before we're allowed to leave. The various candidates all talk to one another as we're heading out, but it's no surprise that no one speaks to Gentarō and I.
However, that doesn't stop Gentarō from talking to one person specifically: Mobo. He jumps over to him just as he's about to exit the school building. "Hey Mobo!" Mobo stops and looks back at Gentarō, and me who's trying to stop him. I give him a nervous smile, hiding behind Gentarō a bit. Gentarō smiles at Mobo and holds out his hand for him to shake. "That was a really fun fight. Let's both get stronger and fight again someday, alright?"
Mobo just stares at Gentarō, at a loss for words it seems. "Even after I disrespected you and your friend?"
"Meh, water under the bridge. I didn't join this tournament to gloat over every victory I get, I joined to show the power of Boost Acolytes and join the student council so I could change things around here for all of them. I'm not here to make enemies." Gentarō explains with a smile.
Mobo pauses before smiling himself, nodding in acknowledgement and shaking Gentarō's hand. "Then allow me to be the first to congratulate you on your victory and securing a spot in the student council, emenator class Boost Acolyte Gentarō."
Gentarō grins brightly. "Can't wait to work with ya!" I smile as well at the gesture. Sure I'm surprised, but I'm more happy than anything else.
"But please, don't go getting too excited over one victory. The battles are only gonna get tougher as you move forward." Mobo says with a serious tone.
"Oh I'm well aware." Gentarō grins confidently and with excitement. "I'm looking forward to it."
