I fall to my knees, staring at the blazing inferno that engulfs my home, a couple dead bodies of the maids and butlers that work here are in the front yard as well. "This can't be happening... What in god's name is going on..?" I mutter in disbelief, my eyes widening as I realize something. "Mom...Dad... They're not both inside of there are they..?!"
I slowly rise up off the ground and start stumbling towards the mansion, though an explosion from the inside stops me in my tracks and I yelp, holding my hands over my head as if it'll actually do something to protect me. The next thing I hear is glass shattering and I look up to see my two bodyguards jumping out of a window, with my parents in their arms, and they land on the ground a few feet in front of me. When they land, I can see that they're both very injured, and my mother and father look deathly pale. "W-What is going on..?! I demand that you tell me this instant..!"
"Princess...run away..! It's not safe here!" Daisuke, the guard with the gold and black themed get up tells me.
"Please...he's too strong for us to protect you..! I'm sorry, just run away!" Mineko, Daisuke's wife and the guard with the black and white themed getup begs me.
"What are you two talking about..?" I mutter.
"Hey now, let's not do anything too hastily." A very familiar voice says as he comes walking out the front doors of the burning mansion, and I can't believe my eyes. With his hand running through his slick, brown and white tipped hair, and his silver colored eyes, it's none other than Edward with a charming, but vile smirk on his face.
"Ed...ward..?" I stare at him, utterly shocked. "It's... You didn't..."
"Oh but I did my little princess." He chuckles as he makes his way down the front steps and stops. "Unfortunately, I can't allow you to leave. Even though you have no plans of continuing your family's legacy, I can't exactly take any chances. That's why I'll kill you, your mother, your father, and anyone who interferes. I've already killed all the maids and butlers who assisted with your mother and father's work. It was difficult to cut down the people I'd been working beside for so many years, but it's not like I wasn't trained for it."
"W-What are you talking about Edward..?" My memories of every day Edward drove me to and from school from my elementary years to the present, the way I almost always eagerly told him of my day, and the few times he seemed to be protective of me flash through my mind. "W-Why...Why would you do this..?! What have you done?!"
"You really believe I ever gave a rat's ass about you little girl?" He scoffs. "Please. I was merely putting on an act to complete the task given to me by my real master in the next kingdom over. I'm sure you're well aware of the war that will unfold soon enough?"
My eyes widen with horror. "So...for all of these years..."
"Indeed, I've been lying in wait, gaining trust from your parents until they allowed me to take over their work. I must say, I am rather grateful to you, young princess. If not for your actions three weeks ago, I don't think those two ever would've allowed me anywhere near their work." He smiles kindly and bows with his arm crossed over his chest. "So please, allow me to thank you for lowering your parents' guards into allowing their employees to help them work. It gave me plenty of time to figure out how they make such beautiful and powerful magic items, as well as give me the time to poison them. Lethally might I add..." He looks up at me and his smile curves into a wicked smirk, his eyes narrowing as well.
My heart sinks and I slowly grasp my head with both my hands. "N-No... I...I did this..? This is...my fault..?" Memories of the day I exploded at my parents flash through my mind, as well as all the time we had spent together until then. "No... This isn't fair... All I wanted was to spend time...like a family..."
"This isn't your fault Sara!" Daisuke yells at me, snapping me out of it for a moment. "You never could've known that this bastard was a spy. What you need to focus on right now is getting the hell out of here!" He quickly hands my mother to Mineko, who jumps a bit as he does.
"W-What are you doing Daisuke?! You're coming with us!" She shouts.
"No. One of us has to stay behind and keep this guy busy so the others can get away. Sara can't carry her parents on her own, and if we don't hurry these two are going to die." Daisuke explains quickly, but sternly.
Mineko pauses, looking down slightly before looking back at him. "B-But Daisuke-"
"Don't argue with me!" He presses his forehead against hers. "I love you, alright? Please get out of here. Who's going to take care of our son if we both die here?"
I can hear Mineko's breath hitch, and she grips my mother and father's unconscious forms a bit tighter as she speaks with a shaky voice. "...Alright... I'll go..."
Daisuke chuckles confidently. "Have a little more faith in me. I'll come back to you in no time." He turns to face Daisuke, grasping his katana with both hands. "Now go!"
Mineko takes a shaky breath before running over and grasping my hand, holding both my parents over her shoulders. "Come on Sara, we have to go!"
"R-Right..!" I gasp as we start running, a bit stunned from the performance and still taking everything in.
"What an adorable display of affection. However, you don't really expect me to just sit here and let you run away do you?" Edward says with a cocky chuckle.
"Do whatever you want. Now that my hands are free, there's no way you're getting past me." Daisuke states confidently as he grips his sword tightly.
"I don't have to get past you to stop them..." Edward holds out his hand and I can hear the sound of a magic spell activating. My eyes widen as I notice the ground start to rise around the gates of the mansion, closing us in and starting to form a dome.
"W-What..?! But isn't his affinity fire..?!" Mineko questions with a gasp.
"Bastard... You used a magic item to make us think your affinity was fire, didn't you?!" Daisuke growls.
"Maybe so..." Edward chuckles.
"Just jump Mineko! Hurry!" Daisuke shouts as he looks back at us.
"Right!" Mineko quickly grabs me and lifts me up bridal, jumping up quite high into the air.
"I don't think so." I hear Edward say with a hint of venom in his voice. I hear the sound of a heavy impact and something shattering along with the sound of a gurgled grunt from Daisuke. I look back to see Edward punching Daisuke in the face with his glowing brown fist, Daisuke's mask shattering, and in an instant, Daisuke's body flies all the way up to us and slams into Mineko, hard, making her yell out in pain and we all slam into the wall of the dome that is now perfectly formed.
We instantly fall to the ground and I gasp in pain, my vision blurring and I cough a bit from the aching pain my body feels from falling from such a height. I look up to see Mineko and Daisuke charging at Edward together, but he swiftly punches them both into the ground, breaking Mineko's mask as well, then uses their own blades to stab their respective lovers in the back. They both gasp and cough up blood, and then I don't hear another croak from them. I grit my teeth and tears spill down my cheeks as I reach out for them, letting out a weak cry. "N...o..! Dai...suke..! Mi...neko..!"
"Awww, don't make such a sad sound princess..." Edward says in a sarcastic, worried tone as he slowly walks over to me. "You will join them in the afterlife very soon..." He smirks wickedly once more.
"...No... Please..." More tears spill down my cheeks, but I'm too weak to even crawl, much less run away as Edward's fist starts glowing in a brown light once again.
He stops right beside me and raises his hand up into the air. "Say goodnight, princess..!"
Every single memory up until this moment flashes through my mind. "No... NooooOOOOOO!!!" I cry out, and then everything goes dark.
