"Despite the fact that this has nothing to do with the boy's appearance, he was acting somewhat suspicious, so your mother and I thought it would be best to leave him in a room and question him." My father explains to me.
I'm so furious though I hardly hear his words correctly. "But...he's not..."
"We know honey... He honestly seems like a sweet boy, but considering we know nothing about him, we had no choice." My mother says.
"Indeed, especially after what happened almost a month ago." My father narrows his eyes. "We don't need to have to have the 'we're worried for your protection' talk again, so let me just get right to the poi-"
"NO!" I suddenly yell out, cutting off my father
and making both of them jump.
"S-Sara..?" My mother tilts her head.
"Jeshan is not just some animal! You can't just lock him away in a room just because he seems suspicious! You're abusing your power, and quite frankly, after everything Jeshan must've been through, that's not fair at all!" I glare at the two of my parents, clenching my hands into fists slowly.
"S-Sara, please, give us a chance to explain-" The fact that I have my father stuttering surprises me, but I don't pay much mind to that.
I'm so furious at this point I can't bring myself to hold anything back anymore, cutting off my father's sentence once more. "No! I'm done just 'letting you explain' every single time! This time, you're both going to let me explain. You're going to listen to what I have to say for once in your lives!" My mother and father stare at me, shocked, but they don't say a word.
I take their silence as a means to continue, so I do so. "For my entire life I have been nothing but grateful to the both of you... You've given me such a happy and easy life; paying for anything I ask, not making me do any work outside of school and future practice for taking over the business, and even hiring maids, butlers, and various other employees to take care of me when you were at your busiest..." I bite my lip. "But do you have any idea what my life has been like outside of this household..?"
My mother's gaze becomes worried and my father narrows his eyes a bit with worry as well it seems, but they're both still silent. So, I begin to really explain my misery to them. "At school, I have no real friends, simply admirers. Everyone there knows who I am because of the limo Edward drives me to school in every single day. From elementary to middle school, I'd always lived a happy life, figuring the people around me actually liked me for who I was. However, when I entered high school, I learned the truth of the matter. They only wanted to try and become my friends and be on good terms with me so that when I would take over the business, they'd use their friendships as a ploy to get whatever they wanted out of me, whether it be money or magic items. Not to mention, anyone who was even somewhat rich was always asking me out and claiming they'd have my hand in marriage. I mean how ridiculous is that..?!"
My head droops as I say my next words. "You'd think that coming home to my family would make everything okay in the end, but I never came home to a family. I came home to maids and butlers who were paid to keep me happy, and a mother and father who were always too busy working to look at their child. The only actual time I ever got to spend with either of you was on your rare vacations. Other than that, I got to see you every day for my 'daily reports' and dinner, which is a rarity in and of itself sometimes! So, not only was I always leaving to a school filled with fake friends, but I was also always coming back to a home with a fake family! I had no one!"
"S-Sara, we never-" My mother tries to speak.
"I'm not finished yet!" I yell sharply, my voice cracking just a little bit, and I can't even bring myself to look up at my parents anymore, for fear I might start to cry and that they won't take me seriously. "Throughout all those years I had no one...but two months ago, a boy named Jeshan transferred into my school... He also had no one because everyone treated him like some kind of monster simply because of how he looked... However, I refused to treat him like that. I showed him nothing but kindness, and he shared every single day at school with me, so I made sure to let him know that I would not let him be alone at that school. The way I did it however was rather selfish of me... I asked him to become my bodyguard, to protect me from my fake admirers by staying near me during the entire school day, and he knew that I meant that his looks were enough to make him scare everyone away...but even so, he didn't mind that. He said as long as he could be useful to someone, it made him feel like he was needed... So, I decided to repay him for each day he protected me, and happily so."
I took a deep breath and sighed heavily. "Even though it seemed like I was getting nowhere with him, there'd always be these sudden random moments that we would have that would show that he did indeed view me in a good light, and that he cared for me enough to put himself in danger... He even came here, where he knew he might be attacked by my bodyguards... Even after all of the things we had done for each other, the day those two bodyguards came, I stopped talking to Jeshan entirely out of fear...of fear that they'd report his strange behavior, looks, and attitude to you both, and that you'd force him to switch schools out of fear for what he might do to me..."
My anger builds back up once more, but my sadness breaks through that anger. Dozens of tears fall down my cheeks as I yell my next words. "Just like you forced me into taking on your business! All you care about is doing what you like without ever asking how I feel!" The tears I've been holding back until now burst through the dam. "Don't you get it..?! Jeshan is...he's the only real friend...the only person I've ever had..! And now...you're trying to take him away too..?" I look down and clench my fists quite tightly.
"S-Sara, sweetheart, please listen to us..!" My mother lightly cries.
"No... I'm done simply listening to you mother and father..." I grab the dagger Jeshan gave me from my lower back, hidden by the invisible belt strap that I bought when Jeshan first gave this knife to me. I never told him it was a magic belt strap. If I did, he'd have questioned why it would have to be able to turn invisible. The answer to that is rather simple, but I could never tell it to his face. The reason the belt is invisible is because I never want this dagger to leave my side. I hold up the dagger and hold up my hair. "Maybe this will finally make you look at me, Mom and Dad!" I shout.
"Sara no!" My father runs for me and the guards who had been outside the office until now rush inside with superhuman speed, but they're not quick enough to stop me from cutting off my beautiful blond hair.
The dagger that shines as bright as the sun cuts through my golden locks like butter, and I drop the rest of my hair on the ground beside me. "Are you looking at me now...Mom...Dad..?"
