Soon enough, the limo comes to a stop and I've arrived at the mansion I oh so love. I turn off the small tv and finish my bottle of tea as Edward walks around the limo then opens the car door for me. He holds out his arm to help me out of the car, but I hand him my school bag instead and step out on my own, walking to the mansion whilst Edward lags behind me.
The minute I step through the double doors, all of the maids and butlers that service my family's mansion are there to greet me. The nine other butlers stand on the right, bowing with their right arms crossed over their chests, and the ten maids stand on the left, gently lifting their dresses just a bit while dipping their heads. "Welcome home Mistress Sara." They all say in unison.
I sigh and nod my head. "Good to be back. You don't all have to do this everyday you know..." I mutter under my breath so they can't hear, but they get paid to do as they're told by my parents, so they really do have to greet me whenever I return home. They also have to wish me a good day whenever I leave too. The only thing I'm looking forward to when I become head of the Mieko Corp is that I'll be able to lighten the workload on all the maids and butlers and they won't have to do such ridiculous things like greeting me when I return home.
I sigh as I walk past all the maids and butlers and go through the double doors at the end of the entrance hall, where my parents are both currently working. My father is typing away on his interface and my mother is writing our family signature on several sheets of paper. I clear my throat and curtsy a few feet away from their desks. "Mother, Father, I've returned."
They both pause what they're doing, my mother looking up at me with a sweet smile on her face. "Welcome home sweetheart. How was school?" She brushes back her natural, curly blond hair with her fingers, her sapphire blue eyes having that same sparkle as always.
"Yes, anything to report?" My father asks, blowing his messy, dirty blond hair out of his face, his sky blue eyes rather dull compared to the sparkle my mother's eyes have, but still beautiful to look at nonetheless. The maids always tell me I got my sky blue eyes from my father, but the sparkle in them comes from my mother.
"Nothing special really, just that I achieved a few more good grades in a couple of my classes." I respond with my own bright smile, the fake one I always wear. "I hope to keep making you proud of me so I can someday take over the family business."
"Oh honey, you make us plenty proud of you already." My mother gives me another sweet smile.
"I couldn't agree more. We'll both see you at dinner tonight then, we have more work to do." My father says with a sigh, stretching his muscular arms a bit.
"Yes honey, we'll see you tonight." My mother groans as she pops her back muscles. I hope as I grow more I can be as beautiful as my mother, for she is much curvier and her skin shines much brighter than mine.
"Very well, I'll see you then." I curtsy once more before turning away and walking out of their office, both of them getting back to work. It's no surprise that they're always so busy, what with the demand for the magic items my family's company makes for adventurer guilds and the various shops throughout the big city. Not only that, but the weapons they make also go to the military, and for high level adventurers, they even make personal magic weapons and/or items just for them.
It's not like I have anything against what my mother and father do, I just don't like the fact that they're forcing me to take on the same heavy workload they do when all I want is to be an adventurer and live a normal life. The only reason everyone at school knows who I am is because of the limo Edward drives me to school in everyday with my family's company logo plastered onto the front of the vehicle and all of the doors. I just want to be treated like everyone else, but I suppose that's too much to ask for. At least I can do whatever I want at home without having to worry about any of the work they do, and the only time I see my parents is before I leave for school, after I return home, at dinner, and whenever they happen to call me throughout the day. On some days, my parents are so busy that they don't even make it to dinner.
I make it to my room and immediately free myself from the bothersome school uniform, changing into the casual clothing I wear around the house; some kind of cutesy t-shirt and matching pajama pants. I'm glad my parents aren't the type to always make me wear "professional clothing" or I might just go mad, and no one enters my room without knocking first, so I have total privacy here at least.
I plop down on my bed and open my interface, looking at all the messages I have from my admirers at school. I scroll through them all, and most of them are apologies for how they behaved or not staying closer so they could protect me, but there are a few messages bad mouthing me as well. I'm not at all surprised, but I honestly expected a few more.
Just as I'm about to close the interface, a new message suddenly pops up at the top of my screen. It's Jeshan, and he says, "I hope I don't end up causing you too much trouble at school. Thanks again, and I'll do my best to live up to your expectations."
His words warm my heart and I bury my face into my pillow, hesitant to reply, but everyone can see when their messages are read, so I do my best to respond quickly and accordingly, saying my message aloud quietly to myself as I type. "Don't worry, you haven't been a bother in the slightest. I'm looking forward to these next few months if I'm being honest. Thank you for being so willing to help me out Jeshan." I send the message with a smiley face at the end and instantly regret my decision, panicking quietly. "Oh no..! Is he going to think I'm childish now because I sent that emoji at the end..?! What if he starts to look down on me..?! Wait, why do I care..?!" I bury my face in my pillow and ruffle my hair, groaning into it.
I instantly hop back up the second I hear the message notification however, seeing it's from Jeshan again. "I'm glad. I'm looking forward to helping you too. I'll see you tomorrow. Have a good night." I grab my pillow and roll onto my back, just staring at the message as the pitter patter of my heart slowly increases in speed. I twirl a strand of my hair with my finger, sighing happily as I reread his message. I don't know why, but I can't wait to go to school tomorrow.
