Chereads / AUGUSTINE / Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

l came to school to find out the hallway is packed. It has never been this packed before. It looked like every student body in this high school decided to hang out here.

What's going on?

James was by his locker exchanging some textbook for his next class. "Pretty crowded isn't it?"

I turned to him, there was so many people I didn't noticed him behind me. I didn't even realize I was standing by his locker, but he saw me anyway.

"Yeah, what's going on?" I asked.

His eyes pointed to the pair of new students, talking fairly close to each other, so close that they looked like they could almost be kissing.

The guy wore a dark skinny jean, and black t-shirt while the girl wore a tiny miniskirt and a small blouse. They're both beautiful. Her angelic hair curled and fell almost down to her waist. While him…him…

My mouth dropped as I got a better look at him.

I recognized him.

His luxurious stare met mine and I felt the heat rose from my chest, to my neck, swarming my cheeks.

He was the same man at the accident, the same man who devoured me with his stare across the street the other day.

Except, he wasn't dressed elegantly, he didn't have his wings this time. He looked every bit human and he wasn't invicible. Everyone can see him today.

Am I dreaming?

His name is Augustine, I knew he was the one who whispered his name to me in the house, in my room that day.

"Oh no, not you too?" James said as he caught me staring at Augustine right then.

"Every damn girl in this place has been checking him out this morning."

There was an obvious hint of jealousy in his voice. If I wasn't mistaken, James was upset women's attention are not on him this morning.

"What" Afraid of a little competition?"

He rolled his eyes. "Yeah, like that's that kind of game I enjoyed playing."

He grabbed my arm and yanked me away with him. "Stop staring at him, you make it so obvious."

My forehead knotted. "No, I'm not." Denying it right away. "I'm not drooling over him. I just think I've seen him somewhere before."

"Probably a transfer student from the nearby high school. Don't waste your time on him, Jade. Guys like that play on innocent girls like you."

"Oh yeah, like you're a saint!" I retorted.

James glanced at me. "Hey, now. This isn't about me. Don't prosecute me because I warned you about him."

I dared another glance at Augustine and found he's still staring at me.

His fierce eyes were not so intimidating but they were curious. He was looking at me as though I was something strange to him.

Even the girl who was with him was staring at me strangely.

She walked up beside him staring at me with the same curiosity he has.

I knew right then she might not be human at all either.

She's the same as him. It has to be. No one could be that perfectly beautiful.
