I averted my sights from the file placed gently on the negotiation table.
"So, Mr. Horas. How's your day going?"
"Hmm, as usual. If only I hadn't had to see your face, it would be a lot better." He shot down glazes at me. His eyes had an bucket of confidence in it. His outstanding and unwavering confidence made me somewhat guilt. However, I wasn't so easy person.
"Did you eat your breakfast well?"
"Breakfast? It wasn't as pleasant as I wanted it to be. Oh, that reminds me. Can you do me a favor?"
"If it was in my power."
"Just tell the chef that he added a little less soya sauce today. The color wasn't as deep as yesterday. Also, he shouldn't add those green beans. I understand he wanted to do something different today. Even if it was for an experiment, he shouldn't add those. It makes the taste unpleasant."
I was almost out of my edge but held onto the land.
"I see…" I just gave him a half-assed answer, "you seemed to observe a lot. That's good to hear."
Apparently, this man is one of those monsters. He murdered 25 people brutally. First, he killed a house of seven people. He took down each of them one by one and then gathered them in one place. After he skinned each of them specifically. From head to toe, he carefully skinned them. Then molded them with wax. He did that to 25 people in total. However, he was caught before he could find his 26th victim. I was the one to catch him. It truly was hard to get one. But we succeeded in doing it. I got promoted as a team leader. I now have my own team. I conduct my cases with them. This is his fifteen sessions.
"Something is in your mind. You seemed too worried about something." The monster in front of me asked with a devil grin.
"Huh?" I was thrown away for a second. But I acted cool.
"You wasn't able to find the culprit of your case? Am I not right?" His grin was indeed a creepy one. "You don't have to be so worried about that. You would get him in the end. For now, let him run wild. Let him enjoy his prey."
I gave a confident smile.
"Looks like I have to get a consultation from a monster. Funny, isn't it?"
My sarcasm got to him.
"Sometimes, the devil can give you wise advice."
"Like hell, I would get that. You should never believe the person who always tells lie even if he told you the truth at one time. Enough of myself, you should begin talking about yourself."
"What should I say?" He didn't move from his seat for once. He sat on the chair placed on the other side with the table calming way. His told hands were attached to each other like super glue. He never showed a bit of nervousness.
"The color suits you great," I said while fidgeting with the pen.
"You mean this prison cloth?" I nodded slightly, "don't be ridiculous."
The orange pant and jersey were everyone's formal clothes. It was given to them when they entered the prison.
"Why did you kill humans?" I got straight to the point.
"Why? You say. Well, to tell you the truth, I got sick of seeing them. It annoys me. They make me so annoyed. I want to kill them the moment I see them." He said some words that carry great weight but he was calm and composed from outside. He wasn't panicking for a moment.
"I'm also a human. Does that annoy you?"
"It is. It annoys me much. I can't describe it with words alone."
"Then why don't you kill me? You don't even have handcuffs on hands" I asked.
"If I do that you would shoot from underneath the table. Also that camera." He pointed to the CCTV camera glued to the wall. "It's observing my every behavior. If I make any movement, the people behind the camera would take action." He got it all right. Indeed I was hiding a ten thousand volt stun gun. It won't kill him but make him paralyzed for a few hours.
"Yea' you got it all right. Congratulations, you got another day close to death."
"Well, I don't really care."
"Okay! You can go now." I gathered the file and closed it in hurry. He left the room slowly. But he uttered something for the last time leaving the room.
"You should believe a lier for that one time."
I couldn't grasp what he meant by them but that doesn't matter. I have other things to do. I went out of the room. Kaguya was standing outside, I handed the file to her.
"Good job today." She said with a wide smile. "You too." Relied upon a grin.
I had some business today. So, I left the place and went to the station. I parked my car. That took me more time because there wasn't any vacant place. As I was busy trying to park my car, I saw a familiar face.
"That brat who clings next to Me. Lukas?" Right, it was definitely him, Mr. Lukas is my rival. However not now. I got promoted but never got to. But there was one time I rivaled him intensely. I can't just stand it. He would always puff his chest with pride. I hate his egoistic behavior.
Never mind, I got down from the car and entered the station. It was lively inside. All of the officers were busy doing their works. Some noticed me and we exchanged greetings. I wasn't searching for them. I walked past them and finally got to the one. I noticed that Mr. Lukas and his brat were having a conversation.
"Why late, Reyes?" So, his name is Reyes
"Sorry sir, I got distracted. I'm extremely sorry." Reyes bent his head slightly in an apologetic way.
"What's done is done. No goods come from crying over spoiled food."
"Thanks, sir. I got some stuff but could hardly be helpful."
