Chapter 689 - Chapter 12 Pieces

Arthur held the familiar gem piece in his hand with a complicated look because this wasn't supposed to be here after Thanos destroyed it, yet it was glittering on his hand like old times. Moreover, it seemed to be greeting Arthur who was its former guardian.

" Why are you here and where are your remains and your siblings?"

Arthur couldn't help but feel helpless because the resurrection of the 6 gems meant that his former enemy would come back. He almost killed him in the past and Arthur knew Thanos would seek him in the future.

Among the heroes, Thanos only viewed him and Tony as a threat to him. Especially after failing the first time, he would surely come back with even more force and destruction.

" Arthur, do you think he will come back?"

Thor who was standing next to him, asked with a cold face while clenching his fists. In his life, only Thanos was able to render him useless and powerless. He was more powerful than his sister and perhaps his father. Therefore, Thor didn't know what to do with him even though he killed him once.

" I don't know. But the appearance of the gems must mean someone or something is behind this terrorism and I will find them."

The green gem piece gently flew into his space while Arthur nodded at T'challa who was treating his wound. He didn't question his decision or choice.

" I owe you one, Arthur. Wakanda won't forget it."

T'challa bowed his head along with other warriors. Even the queen mother and the new queen bowed their heads to the heroes while Arthur gestured for them to relax. His blue eyes silently lingered on the divine item while the panther God appeared before them.

" Child, I won't forgive this gratitude. Our door will be always open to you. I believe that old man wants to meet you."

Bast turned her head to Artemis who seemed to be observing their moves. As a god of this nation, she understood Artemis was acting as a proxy of Olympus which wasn't their friend.

Egyptian and Greek gods always viewed each other in neutral colors and they rarely interacted with each other but that didn't mean there was no blood between them.

" I will personally talk with my father. Perhaps he will talk with the Supreme Sun God."

Bast nodded at her words while handing the item to her. Her golden eyes didn't leave Arthur's side, seemingly thinking something.

" What are you looking at?"

Hela frowned at her attitude but Arthur signaled her to be calm since she meant no harm and she was just merely thinking something.

" I will meet you in the future but remember, you are the singularity of our universe. Your existence will attract others."

Her mysterious words made Arthur sweat because she guessed right. Arthur was sure that he would deal with other beings powerful like Death and he didn't want to meet with them.

Meeting Death was stressful enough and he wasn't confident about other beings similar to her. Celestials were impartial and so were other gods, but there were beings like Lucifer Morningstar whom he met before.

" Let's go back. We have to deal with the item. Constantine, did you find any clue regarding the culprit?"

Constantine threw out the cigarette butt from his mouth while chewing a mint. His calm eyes reflected his thoughts as he summoned a familiar image from his magic.

The picture of a bald man appeared in the air while others Zatanna and Arthur frowned when they saw his picture.

" It appears that our culprit isn't a simple man. Perhaps, we need an interdimensional meeting with our allies."

Arthur didn't mention that Lex was from another world to Artemis and he didn't wish to do so because the involvement of Gods was too troublesome. Especially there were other gods in other worlds too. They wouldn't want to share their domain with aliens like them.

" How do you think he got his hands on this item?"

Constantine asked calmly while chewing the mint. He put his hands in his pocket, trying to find the last remaining cigarette but before he could do that Zatanna took out it from his breast pocket.

" I don't know and I don't want to. Perhaps this won't be a battle between humans. We might even face the gods or old gods."

Constantine sighed at Arthur's words, imagining his miserable future.
