Arthur didn't answer his sarcasm, holding Gilgamesh with a serious face, knowing this creature had been strengthened by draining his life force, so he had to be careful because that meant this creature could potentially absorb his energy.
Unlike normal souls which were in an astral form, his soul had been mixed with pure cosmic energy, thus theoretically he could be absorbed as energy.
" Hmm, you smell delicious. Your whole body exudes the energy of the cosmo."
Kro narrowed his eyes, looking at Arthur with interest because he never seen a human who could be integrated into cosmic energy itself.
Humans were indeed special creatures on this planet but there were only so many who could harness cosmic energy much less mixing it into their very existence. That meant they were close to the creators of the universe since only higher beings could harness that power like Arthur.
" Tsk* This is impossible. It appears that I only have a choice to hold him here until reinforcement arrives here."
Arthur observed Kro with a serious face, understanding he had no loopholes. His body was regenerated thanks to his life force and Arthur couldn't turn into light like he always did. First of all his energy was limited to his tenth and he used quite by battling against Ikaris, secondly carrying Gilgamesh was a much more arduous task than it looked which meant he had to protect him as well as carry him by himself.
" Hmm, you must be thinking about something. Perhaps, escaping from me?!"
Kro grinned with a happy face, figuring out why he was buying time. Honestly, he was afraid of Arthur whose power was able to hurt himself but it looked like he was going out of gas.
Arthur didn't hesitate to close the gap between them since fighting from the range was out of the question since he had to protect Gilgamesh who was unconscious.
He used his sword to cut him with his ultra-high temperature which could burn any substance down and this was a low energy consumption technique with high destructive ability. Moreover, he was in the jungle so it was a bad idea, but other than this most of his techniques were useless.
The immense heat instantly cleaved his tentacle, burning the ground with a whitish flame.
Kro widened his eyes with surprise, not expecting Arthur was hide this kind of move under his sleeve.
" You surprised me here."
He muttered coldly, grabbing the rock and throwing it to block his vision. He then tried to grab him by his foot but Arthur who was observing him, immediately dodged to the side as he used his flame again.
Kro seemed to understand that he had no choice but to leave here because he felt powerful energies from afar and Arthur wasn't giving him any opening at all.
" We will meet again."
He said lightly, vanishing into the darkness as Arthur watched him leave. His hand was trembling due to exhaustion as he slumped on the ground with a bitter face.
Despite having low energy consumption this move required extreme focus. Otherwise, he would have burned down the entire area. This caused his mental strength to burn down as he felt exhausted.
" Arthur, Gilgamesh!"
Sersi and others came running to him as they found him lying on the ground. They checked Gilgamesh's situation, feeling a pulse in his body whilst checking on Arthur.
" Thank you!"
Thena spoke with relief in her tone, looking at Gilgamesh with worry. If it wasn't for Arthur, perhaps he would have lost his life here.
" It is must oblige as a hero and a companion."
Arthur smiled weakly, looking at her with a calm face despite his weakness.
" So, what happened to Ikaris and where is he?"
Sersi asked with a serious face, thinking Arthur might defeat him. However, Arthur shook his head.
" I banished him to the Pacific Ocean by using warp technology. He will be waiting for us at the final destination. I also think that creature might join him since their goals are aligned together."
Arthur guessed they might work together since they couldn't defeat them alone. Furthermore, they were expecting to meet with them when celestial would resurface from the crust of the planet.
