Arthur immediately connected the dots and found something sinister. He understood why the USA had lost its nuclear power and its army. His brows creased with pain and stress.
" Oh no! That is why we lost our ground."
Tanya saw Arthur's pale face. She was worried about his well-being, but something was telling her that he uncovered something. She didn't know whether it was bad or good.
" What's wrong, Arthur? You have been acting strange."
Arthur bit his lips as he looked at her. He was contemplating whether to tell her or not. Finally, he gave up hiding it. He knew they would face their worst nightmare in the future. Hence, he decided to warn them.
" I think I have found the reason for our army's fall."
At first, she thought he was joking, but her face stiffened when she looked into his eyes. He wasn't joking at all. He was calm as he said it.
" What do you mean by that? How did you figure things out?"
It was unscientific to unravel their secret so quickly without any solid evidence to prove that he was right. No, it was impossible. Even the greatest detectives and scientists can't figure out this quickly without any information.
Arthur looked at her with a dead serious look. He raised his watch and pointed at the screen.
" What do you see?"
Tanya saw a bunch of numbers. They were his pulses and brain activity recorder. However, they were unusually high. Although Tanya couldn't recall his data, she remembered a normal person's brain activity record. It was way higher than any normal person.
She raised her voice with a sharp look.
" Explain it to me."
Arthur didn't mind her attitude. He looked at the prisoners and looked back at her.
" Do you remember what I said before?"
Tanya understood his words immediately. She nodded to continue.
Arthur took a deep breath and continued with a heavy tone.
" There was a type of people who had unusual brain activities. They could read others' minds, modify their minds, share their speech in their mind, and so on. We called them psychics in a short term."
Tanya pondered for a moment. She was trying to guess what he was hinting at.
" Go on."
Arthur drew a circle on the ground with words inside. He carefully explained in a calm voice.
" So here is a thing. This circle is your country. There are nuclear missiles, an army, fleets, and an air force in the circle. As for the Soviets, this is their army. Their nuclear power and overall forces are weaker than ours except for armored vehicles."
Tanya nodded in agreement. She was quite curious about their loss.
" However, we lost 80 percent of power in a day. Do you think that is possible?"
Tanya shook her head. He was right about this. Even though Russia had a superior ground army, they couldn't possibly destroy their fleets much less their nuclear missiles and air force.
" That leaves us one choice."
Tanya raised her eyebrows. She observed his face and found he was smiling with an evil look. She coughed and asked with a light voice.
" And that is?"
Arthur grinned brightly. He was glad to uncover this secret because the unknown enemy was far worse than the known enemy.
" A super-powered human. Especially, psychics are at the top of the pyramid in this category. A powerful esper can dismantle an entire country by himself. I think the Soviets have a powerful esper. If it is an esper, he could theoretically destroy our nuclear forces in a minute."
Tanya frowned with a deep look. Honestly, it was hard to believe in this theory, but there was a loop in the Soviet invasion. It perfectly matched Arthur's theory.
" Are you sure? They might have new weapons."
Arthur shook his head. He raised his head and said calmly.
" No weapon can destroy the entire nuclear silo system in a minute. Even the best hackers can't pass their defense, much less physical weapons.
Do you think our military is that weak?"
Tanya shook her head. He was right. America is the strongest force in the world. No other country can challenge its hegemony. They control the world's finance, politics, and military. It was a daydream that this country would be over in a few hours with current technology.
