Chapter 13 - Family

Due to how similar they all were, apart from thinking they were brothers, I thought they were triplets.

Their clothes were old and dirty, and their shoes seemed about to break.

-Is this yours?

-Um, y-yes.

-Haha, when I was your age I got bored too from coming to the cemetery, be careful and make sure not to break anything, All right?

I did some tricks with the ball Messi style.

-Woooo

-Awesome I want to do that too!

-Teach me how to do that!

The kids being kids didn´t hide their astonishment and tried to make me teach them to do the same.

They seemed like good children, two of them had white skin while the third had a tune more like mine, the three shared the pointy ears, the red in their eyes, and the silver hair. Since the three had the same face, the quickest way to differentiate them was their hairstyles. One had messy hair, the other had a left side hairstyle, and the hair of the third was like an open book.

I was sure that they would be popular with women once they grew up.

-Maybe another day, I´m quite busy right now, and it seems like she´s looking for all of you.

I returned the ball to the kids and pointed to the woman approaching.

She had simple clothes, a one-piece dress with a long skirt of dull color, leather shoes that seemed cheap, and a freckly cute face. Like the boys, her eyes were red and her ears pointy, but her bob style hair was divided into silver and black from the root her, white skin and general appearance made me think of her like a porcelain living doll.

-Your kids?

The woman was more or less my age or a bit younger, so I talked without much formality.

-Ah, n-no, they are my brothers, Please forgive them for bothering you!

-Woah, calm down, I´m not angry or anything.

The woman had knelt and bowed, her voice transmitted fear.

I already knew that my face didn´t give a good first impression, but this was way too exaggerated.

-Sis, this mister is incredible!

-Yes, yes, he can do crazy tricks with the ball!

-Can we stay so he can teach us?

-Kids!

Contrary to her sister, the trio of children seemed very comfy.

-Haaah* Here.

Sighing a bit, I offered my hand to help the girl get up.

-Ah, oh, um, thank you very much.

After a certain vacillation, the woman accepted my hand.

-Mhm, your skirt is dirty, let me help you.

-H-Help me?

I pulled out the pendant and use it on the girl and her brothers.

ooooohhhh! Exclaimed the kids.

When the bubbles vanished, the kids threw themselves to my legs.

-You can use magic mister?!

-Please teach me magic!

-Me too, me too!

-...Amazing... Ah! Ron, Lorn, Forn! Stop bothering the mister!

The girl quickly tried to take away the boys, but they had clung like monkeys to my legs.

-Ahaha... I´m afraid that´s all I can do, my mana is the size of a puddle. I said putting my hand on the kid's heads.

-Eeeehhh? Answered the three.

-Kids!

At least don´t look so disappointed, you´re hurting my fragile heart.

Finally, the kids let go of me and returned to their sister's side.

-I-I´m so sorry!

-It´s all right, I used to be like that, You came to visit someone?

-Y-Yes, our parents.

The girl looked at a pair of tombs to the east, like most, they had just a piece of carved wood as a tombstone.

-I see, forgive me if you felt uncomfortable with the question.

-Don´t worry, it´s nothing like that, we´ll always have our good memories with them. Answered the girl with a sad smile.

-... Yhea... By the way, I know the names of those three little ones, but not yours.

-R-Right, how silly of me. I am Victori Blackleaf.

Interesting second name.

I offered my hand to Victoria.

-Roberto Díaz, a pleasure.

Before Victoria could accept my greeting, her brothers hanged to my arm.

-I´m Ron Blackleaf! Said the messy hair.

-I´m Lorn Blackleaf! Continued the book hair.

-And I´m Forn Blackleaf! Finished the left side.

As an introduction, the hanged kids adopted superhero poses.

-Abababa* I-I´m so sorry mister Roberto!

-... Haham, it´s okay.

What´s up with that sound?

If it was for the status increasing or because the kids didn´t weigh much, it wasn´t a problem to lift them in my arm.

It was the sister who worried me I wouldn´t be surprised if that skin color was a for the stress.

-Tell me Victoria, You study? Have a job?

-I work, as a waitress.

-Ho? Can I know where?

-In a bar to the south district, near the wall.

Is not that far but...

The world was a Pangea with some isles around, if I had to compare it to the earth, I´d say that is like if the continents of North America fused with Asia and Africa into a huge piece of floating dirt.

Lafonía was in the center with proximity to the west. The city had a circular shape with four districts as divisions. The streets were a bit labyrinthine, I assumed that it was to make invasions to the castle more difficult, which was in the center of everything.

As the cemetery was relatively far from the castle, I guessed that I was more or less in the center of the southern district.

-Will you be fine on your own? It´ll darken soon.

Victoria showed me a kind smile that warmed my heart before answering.

-I thank you for your concern, but we will be fine, mister Roberto.

-Well, if you say so then there´s nothing more to do.

Taking the hands of her brothers, Victoria gave me a mild bow and followed her way.

When I lost sight of them I approached the tombs of their parents.

"Here lays: Sheron Blackleaf" "Here lays: Agera Adato"

-Hmm, so that´s how elves look like.

Contrary to my thoughts, just the ghost of the father was present, so the mother must have died without regrets.

The ghost of the father was a man around twenty-six years, his silver hair hanging in a ponytail, his trained body was being pierced by five arrows in his chest, his sight was of a different kind of physical pain, it was more like the glace of someone with many frustrations. To be honest, his face was very attractive, his ears were pointy like his sons, but his were longer, plus, his mouth was stained of the blood he puked sometime in the past, he was wearing ranger clothes and a broken quiver was hanging off his back.

Tears dropped from his eyes as I approached.

-My... Family... Danger... Death.

-Mmm, that´s bad.

It wasn´t hard to get the message of his howls.

-Help... Help me...

-I´ll do it if you do it first, give me something useful.

I took the black thread from his tomb.

!!

-Ghk! Ahgk!

Just after absorbing it, I felt like if my eyes were being incinerated from their insides, like if the sting of a poisonous insect had stuck in my iris and the poison bit by bit extended through my veins until it reaches my brain.

-You will see... Everything...

Reflectively I threw my glasses to the ground and closed my eyes while covering my face with my hands, I could feel how a sticky liquid dropped from them to the dirt with a null sound.

Are my eyes melting?!

I rarely panicked, didn´t matter how horrible the situation was, it was some kind of natural talent with which I was born.

-IHHHSSSS* FUUUU*

I took off a globe and put it in my mouth to bite it and help me endure the pain, besides avoiding breaking my teeth. I quickly started to do breathing exercises to maintain a controlled flow of air to my head, the hyperventilation was never good.

I slowly got used to the pain until the point I could sit down and wait for its end. It just lasted a couple of minutes, but without a doubt, it wasn´t a sensation I wanted to repeat.

-Haaah* Hah* Hah* This better be good.

Once everything ended, I carefully opened my eyes.

-... Holy shit.

I would never need my glasses anymore, my vision was so clear and detailed that I could be sure of it.

-So this is what you referred with see everything.

Plants, birds, insects, people, and buildings.

I could see every detail of them.

It was as if my eyes had become scanners with variable zoom.

I knew which part of the body hit to cause critical damage, I knew what stone had to be removed to collapse a house, right now I was dizzy, but once I get used to these eyes, nothing will escape from me.

It´s good but that´s not enough, I lack strength.

Cro* Cro*

A crow´s caw pulled me out of my thoughts as it landed on the tombstone of Victoria´s father.
