Chapter 39 - Military

As it was finally time for the morning lessons, Avery and Yue thus ended their inspection if it could be called that as most of their time was really spent more on chatting and teasing with one another.

They were so absorbed with one another that they ended up being late for the morning lessons in which they were supposed to be teaching until a suitable person was found.

And so when they arrived at the newly built school, new and old villagers alike were already there.

They greeted both Avery and Yue as they both went to the small stage in front of the hall.

Avery and Yue then proceeded to teach magic. As there were newcomers, Yue and Avery had to repeat some concepts. To not waste the time of the villagers who already knew those concepts, Avery and Yue decided to split the class until the newcomers were able to catch up.

They proceeded with their plan, as Yue went ahead and gave a quick course on the basics of magic and the requirements in forming their mana circles on the new villagers. While Avery on the other hand taught the other half. He did not introduce any new concepts, and mainly focused on helping them build their foundation and practice their spells.

Time passed until the morning lessons were finally over.

This time around Avery did not let them proceed back to their original work immediately. He and Yue wanted to pick out some people to be recruited into the military that they needed to create immediately.

Currently, the total population of the village is 94.

57 of those are the elves that they summoned using the summoning token. This means that all 57 have the potential of F-rank.

Then 30 of the 94 are villagers came from the summoning platform that would summon 10 villagers every day at noon. They all have varying ranks.

Then the last seven include the first five villagers: Elrand the court official, Haldir the blacksmith and engineer, Lindir the Researcher, and finally Estel and Lia the Generals.

The last two elves were the leaders and progenitor of their race, Yue and Avery.

The village currently, except for Yue and Avery, has a total of 5 S-ranked villagers, 1 B-ranked villager, 2 C-ranked villagers, 5 D-ranked villagers, 9 E-ranked villagers, and 70 F-ranked villagers.

With this information in mind, Avery and Yue decided to take all villagers with E to B rank potential. They also took 10 F-ranked villagers. Thus bringing a total of 27 villagers.

The elves that were left, except for the S ranked villagers, are now only 60, 16 of which are children which brings the total number of elves capable of working to only 44.

Due to the change in numbers, they decided to redistribute the work that was originally given to them. So they had to transfer people to other works to balance it out with the needs of the village.

10 were sent for construction, 15 for gathering and hunting food, 2 to look after the children, and the remaining 17 to gather resources like logs and such.

They then dismissed them and let them continue with their new assignments, while the 27 that was picked remained.

The 10 F-ranked villagers were not chosen randomly. Remember that, each race has a trait of their own in which they would select when they first come to the Ascended World.

While others were only allowed to choose one or two depending on their rating, Yue and Avery were allowed to choose three which are the following:

Master's of Magic: Increase natural talent in mastering magic. These spans in all areas related to magic such as Spell Casting, Magic Smith, Enchanting, MagicTech, etc.

Master's of Weaponry: Increase natural talent in the selected field ( Selected: Light Weapons, Range Weaponry)

Natural Intelligence: Increase natural intelligence. This would increase the race's research speed, comprehension, logical thinking, etc.

The number of traits a villager would get depended on their rank or potential.

So in choosing the 10 F-ranked villagers, Avery and Yue chose the one with the race trait of 'Master of Weaponry'. They could have chosen those with the trait of 'Master's of Magic', but Avery and Yue deemed that those who had the magic trait were better to be left at the village for now.

They could use the magic on the work they are currently assigned which would not only increase the efficiency of their work but also allow them to practice and master their magic. So by the time they are to be drafted into the military, then their mastery over their spells would already be high making it easier to train them for combat.

Aside from those ten F-ranked villagers, the trait that the other 17 of the 27 villagers are as follows:

1 B-rank with two full traits of magic and weaponry.

2 C-rank with a full trait of magic and 75% of intelligence.

3 D-rank with a full trait of intelligence and 50% of magic.

2 D-rank with a full tait of weaponry and 50% of magic.

9 E-rank with a full trait on weaponry and 25% of intelligence.

[A/N: If you guys forgot how the traits are distributed then you can check chapter 16 since it was explained there. And…. sorry for sudden the info dump, there would be less of these in the future.]

With those traits in mind, Yue suggested sending those 3 D-rank villagers with a full trait of intelligence and 50% magic to the research department led by Lindir since their traits were more fit for researching. Plus with the addition of those three D-rank villagers, the research on the magical seeds might be faster.

Hearing her suggestion, Avery immediately agreed. Since it would be great if the research regarding the magical seeds were to finished faster.

After sending those two to Lindir, Avery and Yue along with the remaining 24 went to the barracks where the stone stele for Archer and Swordsman are located.

Avery then assigned them to a stele based on their traits. The villagers, would not know their trait as they could not view it in their system. Only the leaders were given the ability to see through the potential of their people. So it was left to them to assign what fits them the most.

Thus a total of 15 were chosen to be swordsmen and swordswomen. While the other 7 were to be archers.

The two C-rank were not assigned a stele as they already unlocked the Mage Apprentice class. These were the only two mages that Avery and Yue chose as they already mastered the basics of their magic and had some offensive spells in their arsenal.

Plus it was better for them to be trained early so that they could leave the job of training the other mages left at the village in their care when they are to be drafted.

After assigning them their classes, they then headed to the training field beside the barracks.

Avery with the help of Yue taught them formations and discipline.

Teaching formations was important as it would help minimize needless casualties, replace worn-out soldiers, improve communication, and mobility.

From what Avery experienced in the last timeline, is that successful armies had systems as to how the army was set up. 99% percent of the time, an organized army would defeat a less organized one. He had seen this happen a lot of times, so it was important to teach it early on.

Discipline is another important aspect of the military. It is the state of order and obedience existing within a command.

Avery and Yue decided to not teach their classes first since the stone stele should have given them memories and skills regarding the chosen class. Plus they could use the system's assistance in activating their skills.

Of course, Avery and Yue would not allow them to be dependent on the system as those who depend on the system are always weaker than those who mastered the skills themselves.

They decided that they would allow them to familiarize themselves with their class before teaching them what they needed to know and how they could practice with the most efficiency.

And so they continued their training while having a break once in a while they only stopped when dinner was near.

They then settled some other things that needed their attention, like the newly summoned 10 villagers during the noon, before finally leaving the Ascended World and taking a rest at Earth.

By the time they left, the current status of the village is:
