Chapter 41 - Memories II: Dance
The lights in the young Yue slowly dimmed as she thought of what they said 'Maybe my b-big brother actually ha-' but before she could continue her words a warm hand suddenly held her cheeks. She looked up to see her big brother smiling at her.
"B-big brother?"
"What's wrong? Why are you crying?" He said as his thumb slowly wiped the tears at the corner of her eyes.
Those warm hands and loving voice slowly calmed her down. Hope bloomed inside her thinking that what those kids said was not true at all.
"D-do you h-hate me big brother? Am I a-annoying you?"
"Hm? What are you talking about? How could I ever hate you? You are my cute little sister that needs to be spoiled with as much love as possible. How could I find you annoying?" Young Avery was confused at first before answering her question with great sincerity.
"Yes! Tell her." The spectating Avery said with a smile.
Hearing the sincerity in his voice made gave her some clarity and realized that what those kids said was nothing but a lie.
The older Avery hearing her thoughts made him nod his head in agreement.
She felt guilty for doubting his big brother over some strangers.
Hearing this, the older Avery did not blame her, it was her first time hearing such negative words filled with hatred towards her.
Even if she was hailed as a genius for being able to learn all the things taught to her, it was still an entirely different matter when it comes to her social life.
She was innocent and did not know much about other people as she was isolated, who unlike her big brother had the chance of meeting others by accompanying their father in some meetings, so hearing those hateful words for the first time coupled with her innocence and lack of social interaction made her believe whatever they said.
Back to the two young siblings.
Avery continued his words. "How about I take you to a dance, my dear little sister?" As she was still supposed to dance as scheduled, he decided to help her out and ease her worries as he can see that she was not comfortable with the people staring at her.
She looked at her big brother who took a step back and held his hand out in an invitation. She then comprehended his question and quickly grabbed his hand and accepted the invitation.
Seeing her accept the invitation made Avery smile. He then wrapped his hands around her tiny waist and held her hand with the other, while Yue placed one of her hands on his shoulder and held his hand with the other. They then held that position and waited for the music.
Seeing them in position made the musicians realize that it was their cue, and so they started playing the music.
Hearing the music they started to dance gracefully dance. Though the dance was not planned as Yue was supposed to dance on her own using the routine that was taught to her.
However, the practice was not wasted as she and Avery adjusted the routine to fit a duo instead of a solo. Avery was able to keep up as he had already done this during his public debut last year.
Both were great at it and were often complimented by their instructor when they practiced. So even if the dance they are doing now was an improvised version of their routine, they were still able to give a graceful and elegant dance that complimented them. They looked cute and lovely dancing together in the middle of the hall with all eyes on them.
Though the two brothers and sisters did not care and were absorbed in their dance. Avery was looking at his sister with a warm and loving smile plastered on his face.
Yue on the other hand was mesmerized by her brother which made her heart beat faster.
Looking at his face that was giving such a warm look made her blush a little. Coupled with how he helped her a while ago made her feel something she can't explain.
It was a new feeling that she cannot understand as it was his first time feeling it, the caring look that her big brother gave her and the way he was always there for her started to breed a new feeling inside her… a feeling that one is not supposed to feel towards their own blood-related brother.
The older Avery was looking at all of this with a smile on his face. Later on, when they danced he could feel and hear her thoughts through the connection.
Knowing what this feeling is he quickly realized something.
'So this where you started to fall in love with your big brother…Yue' Even though it was not yet that big but the feeling was there and will slowly start to grow in the near future.
And so the two continued to dance while looking at each other's eyes with a warm and loving look towards one another.
While Avery continued to watch them with a smile. The world where he was currently staying started to blur. The ballroom started to recede as a new scenery was presented to him. He was caught off guard but quickly calmed down to assess the situation. Though he was a bit irritated that he didn't get to see the rest.
