Chapter 30 - Resolve

Hi! Here is the extra chapter for this week. I am going to be busy with college so the next chapter would probably be released next week Friday (Singapore Time).

With my meager writing skills, I am not sure if I did well on this chapter. Hope you like it and thank you for reading!!

'Genocide.... huh?'

'The act of killing was ingrained to us by our parents, but genocide? That is a completely different matter.'

'Can I do it?'

'Aside from the training by our parents, I still lived a relatively normal life just a few days ago.'

'Killing a squad or two is easy. But what if it is hundreds of thousands? A million?'

'Am I prepared to commit such cruelty?' The hand holding the crystal starts to tremble a little.

She then looked at her big brother. There she saw a worried look plastered on his face.

The sight of him starts to calm her down.

She then remembered the future that entailed her and her big brother. She hasn't experienced the future, but from listening to what her big brother said and by connecting some dots. She knew that the future that her big brother experienced was extremely painfully difficult.

'He suffered so much and the pain he felt when I d-died.'

'And if I was in his place and big brother was to s-suddenly d-di…'

At such a thought, fear and panic start to take over her.

'N-No! big brother can't d-die!'

Her heart rate starts to accelerate as her eyes trembles from the fear of losing her big brother.

'NO! That can't happ-'

She then felt an arm wrap around her as she was pulled into an embrace. Feeling the warmth of the embrace and knowing who it was, she starts to calm down and hugs back.

"Are you alright?" Avery asked after noticing her behavior.

Yue simply tightens her hug at Avery.

Not hearing a reply. Avery simply waited while softly caressing her hair.

After a while, Yue decided to talk.

"You won't leave me right, big brother?"

"Hm?" Avery was a bit confused by the question. He looked at his sister's eyes.

She stares back.

Knowing that she is expecting an answer. He decides to answer something obvious.

"Of course! Why would I ever leave you? The world must be insane if it thinks that I would leave you."

"Nn." Yue hums happily after hearing those words.

'Right. Big brother is here. No matter what happens in the future, I know that he will be there for me. Just like how I will make sure to be there for him as well.' Yue thought.

Silence pervaded again as the silent breeze of wind gently grazed them. They stayed in that position for a while before separating.

Yue was back to herself and was smiling brightly.

"Well… despite the cruelty I think we should proceed and gather more of these tokens."

Hearing those words surprised Avery a little. He was not expecting her to accept it easily. 'In the past timeline, she immediately dismissed these tokens after learning about its existence, but now…'

"I am fine if we have to kill a squad or two" Yue continued

"I am also fine if we have to clear a castle full of people"

"o-or commit genocide to a village… though I am not sure if the time comes when hundreds of thousands or m-millions are in consideration." She said with some tint of fear.

"Little Yue…" Avery said concernedly.

The fear plastered in her face quickly disappeared and determination replaced it. "But... I'll cross the bridge when the time comes." She resolved. "I know you will be there with me so I have nothing to fear."

Again. Avery was stunned. Not expecting such determination.

"I-I know that no matter what I decide, you would still l-love me either way." She said with a blush on her face.

Seeing this Avery smiled.

"B-but enough of these sad and scary things! Let's talk about some other things!" She said shyly.

"Oh! Yeah, those goblins dropped some golds!"

"Estel!" Yue called.

"Y-Yes! your majesty!" Estel for the last few minutes felt a little awkward. Even though she loved seeing the interactions between his and her majesties, but it doesn't that she felt good being a third wheel around them.

"Come on! help me gather these coins around!" With that, a blushing Yue ran and starts to collect the coins scattered on the battlefield.

Seeing that she was okay, Avery sighed in relief. After a while, he smiled.

He was happy that his sister took it better than the last timeline and realized its importance immediately.

Even though she has yet to completely accept it, at least she was willing to take the initiative to change that.

He then looked at the crystal token that Yue gave back before going off to take the loot from the goblins they killed.

These tokens were going to be vital in rapidly increasing their development. With more people, they would be able to do much more things and would have more people for the army.

However, while these tokens are amazing in themselves, it still has their own disadvantages.

As stated, getting a token higher than F-rank is almost impossible. So even if I were to kill a Tier 3 goblin, the system would only give us an F-rank token. The only way to receive something higher than E rank is by getting it as a reward from events established by the system.

Some people would think that killing or assassinating the Goblin King would be much more efficient in collecting these tokens as you would be rewarded an amount equivalent to the population of the Kingdom that the Goblin King ruled.

Yes. You surely would be able to gain tons of these Summoning Tokens by killing the Goblin King.

It is certainly the fastest way of getting a massive amount of these crystal tokens. But… It might sound easy as it seems but it is not.

There are other conditions needed to be met in order to receive the summoning tokens from killing the Goblin King.

The first condition is to conquer half the kingdom's territory and capture the capital city. Second, you must kill the General or anyone who holds the highest position in the army aside from the king. Lastly, is to kill all members of the royal family. Only then would the system start giving the Summoning Tokens.

In short, it is tedious, and just assassinating the Goblin King will not work.

Avery then put the summoning tokens away and proceeded to walk towards Yue nad Estel to help them check the loot out.

They also need to go look at the campsite of the Goblins to check if there is something noteworthy.
