The outside of the courtroom is quickly crowded with nobles preparing to return home. The whole place is lined with carriages waiting to pick up their masters.
"Carina, there is something that I have to do, so can you go ahead and return home first? I made sure the carriage is at the west side of the courtroom. It's not that deserted there," Caspian said.
As soon as Caspian finished his sentence, Hill came running towards us. "Pleasure to meet you! I didn't know Lady Carina was joining as well. Are you alright now?,"
"Lord Hill, it's been awhile," I said.
It really has been awhile. After Hill gave me the information I needed for the pills, we have no contact with each other any more. Oddly enough, I do remember that Hill once said that he wanted to be friends with me, but I see no effort being made.
"Perfect timing, Hill, go escort my little sister to the carriage,"
"Are you going to clean up the emperor's mess?,"
Caspian shrugged his shoulders while glaring at him. "Don't dare try to do anything to Carina,"
"Yes yes I got it. Go and receive orders from the emperor," he waved him away.
After we were left alone, Hill walked next to me. "Lady Carina, how are you? I don't think I have the rights to ask you after you were being poisoned but...,"
"What made you think that way?,"
Hill blinked dumbfounded. "Oh..haha! After what I said about wanting to be your friend and all but I didn't spare an effort. I am sorry," he nervously scratched the back of his head.
To be honest, it didn't bother me much but I am still curious. "Is there something wrong perhaps?,"
Hill sighed as he stopped walking. He turned towards me, his face is stern. "Lady Carina, things are starting to get serious. Both me and your brother...well...," he paused.
"In any case, we both wanted you to stay away from all this. Including about those pills,"
Was there some kind of political play I am not aware of?
But I rather not ask further, because I know Hill will notice if I try to pry. When we arrived at the carriage, Hill said something to the coachman while I entered.
"Is there something wrong Lord Hill?,"
"Ah, I told the coachman to use the south road. There won't be that many carriages there," Hill said.
Before he closed the carriage door, he paused to look at me. "Remember, do not involve yourself in this anymore. Both me and your brother noticed whatever you're planning," Hill closed the carriage door as he ordered the coachman to proceed.
I look outside the window to see someone's been watching Hill in the shadows. Who was it? What is happening?
But before I could think further, I smelled a familiar scent. "This smell...it can't be!," I tried to chant a barrier spell but failed to do so and fainted.
The air is slightly humid and the musty smell made me think that I may be in a basement. I heard the sound of water droplets as well as the echoing of rats. I slowly opened my eyes.
"Oh...to see that you've become quite rusty. But it's understandable, you've been living for so long after all,"
I slowly opened my eyes and my body jolted in shock.
That bright red hair and green eyes that even shone in the dark. His pale skin that made everyone think he's sick and frail. The boy that never seemed to surpass my height and strength.
"Klein...,"
"Yes master," he smiled gently.
Klein, my disciple when I was Archmage Geona.
What is happening? Why is he still alive?
Klein took my hand and kissed my knuckle. "My goddess, I've come to serve you,".
