Chapter 51 - Death is not the end

The ground is cracked, the sky turned blood-red and the smell of rotting corpse and blood wafted in the air. This was the time that is forever recorded in history. The age where the Linea Gem descended upon Earth and humans and demons fought for it.

Archmage Geona's, age of war against demons. It was the most gruesome war to ever be witnessed by humans. Demons were particularly powerful because they were demons from the hell realm itself. And the one leading is the almighty demon lord himself. Gods and goddesses could not interfere due to maintain law and order, so that is why everyone thought Geona is humankind's only hope.

Many people worshipped Geona as some god's daughter, who possessed unlimited mana and that is able to defeat a thousand of demons in mere seconds.

Little did they know, Geona was once a slave trapped in a tower, forgotten, and starved to death and is now reincarnated as a farmer's daughter who was 5 years old at that time. And that his own father was sick and died, leaving her 5-year-old self alone.

"Master, you can't be doing this!!," Klein, my disciple, grabbed my wrist forcefully.

The Linea gem in my hand seems to be dimming, as if it doesn't seem to be particularly important at this moment of time. However, all this started because of this damn gem. Many humans died because of it. And the Earth is slowly dying with constant drought due to demons' energy interfering with the surrounding.

"I don't want this to drag again Klein," I said, sighing. I gave a warm smile and ruffled his fluffy hair. I particularly like his bright red hair that almost seem to shine even in the dark. "You know...us as mages, we live for a very long time. I am about to turn 500 years old...and you 150. It was the longest I've ever lived,".

And that's not a lie. As someone who's reincarnated again and again in different bodies, I don't get to live for a very long time. Twenty something is usually the maximum. But probably due to being reincarnated so many times, my mana accumulated and I became so powerful that as archmage, I got to live for a long time.

"What do you mean, master? We all live once! If you die, it's over," Klein sobbed uncontrollably.

Klein had a baby face. He's scrawny and pale too, which made him look very frail and weak. But the Klein I know possessed a mana that might be equal to mine in another 500 years and if it's him its possible.

I scratched my cheek nervously. What he said isn't exactly wrong, but I do reincarnate so many times, so death doesn't feel like a terrible or scary thing for me. But if Klein keep on clinging to me like this, then I can't stop the war.

A bright idea suddenly flashed in my mind.

"Klein, I am entrusting this to you," I put the Linea gem on his palm.

"W-What...,"

"Klein, the thing is...this might not be the last time we meet. So do not worry about death because we will definitely meet again,"

And I am sure of it. I think I will be reincarnated again, unfortunately.

Klein grabbed my waist and hugged me from behind. Although he's a bit shorter than me, the fact he's a man hugging me is still a bit embarrassing. "Klein, stop it!!,"

"No! You're going to close off the door to the hell realm right by detonating yourself and kill the demon lord right? That won't happen!,"

I turned around and took his hands that was on my waist. "Klein, remember how you find me living in the cottage in the middle of a forest. I took you in because you were injured. You noticed I am a mage, so you wanted me to be your master,".

Kleins' eyes became unfocused. That's because I manipulate my mana and forced him to stay still. It was a dirty move, but I had to do it because we were running out of time at that moment.

"So with that gem in your hand, find me Klein. Find me...like you always do,".

I ran off towards a hole that brings me to the hell realm. And the last thing Klein saw was a bright light emerging, immediately closing that hole, and every demon turned to dust.

Klein couldn't move, but his tears keep on streaming down his cheeks. He couldn't believe those were his masters' last words.

But he decided to believe in it. And so, Klein, Archmage Geona's only disciple, went on a journey to find his master with the Linea gem in his hand.
