Chapter 38 - Transitions

"Ryann!!," my colleague slapped my back jokingly.

I huffed out of annoyance. "Stop it! If you're going to ask about the assignment then I can't help you," I rolled my eyes as I smiled, pinching her cheeks.

She swatted my hand. "You need to stop treating me like a child. It's true you're older than me but...," she puffed out her cheeks. She observed me packing my books away. It had always been like this. After the lectures, I would quickly pack my things to go visit him at the hospital.

"You're heading to the hospital again?,"

I smiled when my friend brought up the topic. "Of course. I'm going to see him,".

Her smile quickly falters. "You...are you seriously going to marry him?,".

My good mood quickly dissipates into thin air. I don't know how many times I've heard this, but I am pissed enough. "You're my good friend, I trusted you in believing my decisions,"

But she quickly panicked as she grabbed my hand. "But he's a handicap that won't live long!!,"

As if it's a slap to my face, I quickly woke up from my dream. Above me is the familiar ceiling. This is the ceiling from Carina's room.

"Ryann...," I haven't heard that name in a while.

My memories in the modern 21st century dimension is very hazy. The first time I got reincarnated into this world as the drunkard's daughter, it's hard to recall them clearly. I only remember the important ones, like my name, my 'friend' with a blurry face, and some lover I had.

Of course, after all the 100 times I got reincarnated, I slowly lost the true essence of who I am, so I don't even remember how me, Ryann, is born or what are her circumstances.

Oh right, I am still Carina. I am still alive.

I sat up on the bed, groaning in discomfort. That mana dispel thing I did take a huge toll on me and I realized I took such a risky plan. I am sure that both father and brother will be angry and Vance will just cry telling me not to die.

"Heh...," I laughed.

Even in the brink of death, I felt almost giddy. Happy almost. I wouldn't mind doing something reckless that would cause me to die. But...

It hurts a little inside when I see the people I love crying.

Without knocking, Emmy entered my room. "Oh!! My lady, you woke up," she covered her mouth and her eyes glisten.

Déjà vu.

"Yes..well..tell them that I-,"

"I will tell the butler immediately!!," Emmy ran out of the room.

This definitely had happened before.

As the wagon departed, I sighed looking at the bottle in my hand.

"These pills...what are they really?," I mumbled.

It took less than a month for the pills to arrive. Even though the north is so far, the Frigores can even send something small like pills this fast. From the north to the capital, the travel should be about 2 months, but they're so fast. Even if I am from Frigore, I still couldn't grasp the mysteries surrounding my clan.

Lady Uld seems to lock herself in her room ever since Vance fainted. She didn't give me any orders so I've been acting on my own, protecting the palace while waiting for the pills to arrive. The biggest mystery however is Vance's recovery.

I briefly remembered that Master Carina told me to leave the room. When she exited, it seems that Vance's mania stopped. She's my master so I know she wouldn't do anything suspicious but then again, I always wondered what she did. I know my master possessed the rarest element, but if my master can heal and have the light element, then isn't she the saintess?

I shook my head. I should pretend that I know nothing.

But then again, I am worried. It's been a month and a half ever since master was sick. Vance is throwing tantrum about wanting to see her and Lady Uld isn't giving me any orders.

I know nothing about matters outside the palace before, and I regretted it now. If I do, I could've found out about master.
