Chapter 32 - The second time I got reincarnated (1)

"My son!!," Uld bursted into Vance's room.

I, who was next to his side, frantically searched for his medicine. The sound of him screaming in pain made me panic even more. "You! Even if you're Xenia you can't be this merciless!!!," Uld glared at me as if I was the cause of this.

But I ignored her. There were more pressing matters. The medicine.

"My lady, calm down! Master was tutoring his highness when it happened," Demetrius said.

I found the bottle of pills underneath a few knick-knacks in the drawer. But I was surprised to see there's only one left.

"That's....that's not enough," Uld, too, was surprised that there's only one pill left.

"Do you have more?!," I asked, sweating profusely.

This can't be happening. If this goes on, Vance can die of pain or even insanity!

"I...I usually need to send a letter to the Frigores. But it'll take months!," Ulds' legs gave way as she crumbled to the floor. Demetrius quickly caught her.

Her face paled. "The pills are supposed to be enough...,".

"He will die...he'll die...I'll be alone," Uld started to mumble.

She's out of it.

I took a deep breath. I am not sure how this will work. It's been awhile.

My healing powers. I need to use it.

[Don't ever use your healing powers, you fool. I care about you more than you think. Please, promise me]

I am sorry that I had to break the promise.

"What happened? Where am I?," that was my first thought.

I remembered what happened before that. I died after my 'father' hit me with a bottle of alcohol.

I look around and saw tattered clothes. In front of me were bars of iron. This can't be. I got reincarnated, again?

The second time? Is this even possible?

"Oi, get the slaves moving tomorrow at sunrise! The archduke's aide is here," one of the guards shouted.

The knight who was leaning against the wall yawned lazily. "God, why do I have to take care of these darned slaves? I am supposed to be in the front lines damn it!,".

His subordinate sneered. "And get yourself killed? The demons would end you in one sneeze,".

I widened my eyes in shock. They were talking about demons, right? So, am I to assume that I am still in the same universe?

This is like living in a reincarnation webnovel, except I've been having terrible luck. Now, I got reincarnated the second time as a slave?

"H-Hello there Mr. knight! Where are we? Who am I going to be sold to?," I asked as I placed my hands on the cold, metallic bars.

This is real.

I died. First in my original novel, second due to my abusive father. Now this? I have to escape!

"Shut up. A slave like you dare," the lazy knight yawning earlier kicked the iron bar and I was thrown behind.

My hands got red and dirty from his kick. "Now even a slave dare to talk to me. Do you know why people want to go to the frontline nowadays? Money! Fame! Power!," the same knight shouted to his friend.

I am scared.

This is yet an unfamiliar place again.

The previous time, I was scared too. I never left the house because my abusive, alcoholic 'father' feared that if I go out with bruises, the villagers would catch him. So I was unaware of whatever happened outside, in this world. All I heard from my windows is the talk of the villagers. They always mention the same thing.

Demons. Mana. Magic. Saintess.

My original world is different. If you're inside your house, you can still get information from the tips of your fingers. However, no matter how strongly I recall, I seem to only remember certain things.

Ah, a smartphone. Yes, how convenient would that be.

"You should just accept your fate," a guy with a hoarse voice spoke.

Unlike the other slaves, he seemed calm. He looked the oldest out of the slaves here. He seems to be around 15 to 17. I don't know how I look like, but just looking at my hands, I know I am pretty young.

"We are to be sold to Archduke Glen. I heard that we are supposed to be used as healing feeds,"

I tilted my head questioningly. "Archduke...Glen? Healing feeds?,".

The slave was taken aback, surprised at the level of ignorance. "You...don't know anything?,"

The young man explained that there is a special spell cast by priests of the church. It is able to cure almost any disease. However, the price to pay is massive. It required about 20 priests and young souls to be sacrificed.

The souls to be sacrificed are called healing feeds.

There's a rumour that Archduke Glen, the brother of the current emperor, got sick. And it was a rare disease with no cure. His sickness can cause the downfall of the empire because he's the backbone of the army, a person with a huge mana, who's currently fighting the invasion of the demons.

"W-What year is it even? And what is mana?,"

He chuckled, slightly entertained. "We can have a conversation if you like. At least you're the only level-headed person in this cage. It's boring, and before you talked to me you've been sleeping for days. The rest here is scared out of their wits," he said, as he combed his hair back.

It revealed his refreshingly sharp gaze. He doesn't seem like a normal person. "I am Geld,".

A bubbly feeling emerged inside me. I feel happy and warm inside. It's the first time that I've been treated kindly in this world.

"My name is....," I paused. Should I use my name from my previous life or from my original life?

I refuse to use the name from my previous life. That life, is only filled with abuse and loneliness. I'd rather not have that name attached to me.

"I forgot you're born a slave...you don't have a name,"

"Aren't you a slave yourself?" I asked.

Geld sighed. "I am a criminal," he stared into my eyes.

It quickly got awkward. "Uh...I am sorry," I mumbled.

God, I just made my first friend. But I made the mood turned sour quickly.

"Yuriana," Geld smiled.

Even if he looked exhausted and soot covered his face, I find him attractive. The brown hair and black eyes were such common traits, but he seemed to possess it with more charm.

"I love it," I smiled.

"Right. Yuriana,"

He was my first friend in this world.

And I learnt such kindness in this world for the first time as a slave, in a cage.
