Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 The Beginning

The Dynasty formed shortly after the fall of the old U.S. economy, riots and crime broke out, many people lost their jobs and homes. People desperate for change clung to any hope they could get as the military slaughtered rebels. Although, A young man named Dr. Albin Pruris rose from the ashes and gathered the people, they fought the government together, using Dr.Pruris' amazing abilities to create super human-like soldiers and unlock the magical ability in many. With Dr.Pruris' brains and the brawn of the people that began to follow his command, they started to have a winning chance. People flocked to their movement, becoming more organized in the revolution. With the new found magical abilities of the rebel group, the U.S. Government tried to stand their ground with their firepower but the anger of the people all across the country was unmatched. Many soldiers abandoned their station and joined their families in the uprising, everything after that just fell apart for the old government. Soon the U.S. government was overthrown. Pruris was crowned a King among the people and he renamed the land, The Pruris Empire. The old government was torn down, and the revolution was won. The New Pruris Dynasty began, with the magical abilities unlocked in some human's, they held up against other country's criticism of the fall of the U.S. government. No other country knew how Pruris unlocked such unnatural abilities in his people, even the old U.S. government couldn't figure it out before their fall. His experiments happened behind closed doors with specifically chosen people that he trusted and none spoke of it even when pressured. He claimed that some were already born with these abilities and just didn't know or didn't tell since it would seem "unnatural", but no one knew for sure.

People in the new country are now naturally born with these certain abilities, ranging from contacting and seeing the dead, to super strength, heightened senses, heightened cognitive abilities, fast reflexes and more uncommon abilities. Though they have become more rare in the last decade than they were in the beginning and during the war. People who were deemed to have an ability were put into the new government, to help Dr.Pruris build his new Empire. It helped the Empire become more dangerous, less likely to be attacked by another country which Pruris was always concerned about. The people were blindly devoted to Pruris though none knew for sure if he was actually acting on good will, though these thoughts were never voiced in concern of being accused of being an old government advocate, which would stir judgment among others. So they all worked their part, civilian or a new government worker, they came together to build Pruris' Dynasty.

Now, nearly 25 years later, all is calm, no more war or riots. History of the war shoved into memory as the new Government was busy being built. The sun had already set in Orrinshire, a city close to the heart of the Pruris Dynasty, which subsequently used to be the old government capitol. Ebony Faith Woods, a young woman who was born near the end of the war, was making her way up the ranks of the reformed government, only being out of college for a couple years. Her parents were active in the events of the war and were now proudly retired, maybe it was that her parents were respected veterans of the war that Ebony was rising so quickly. Or perhaps her good looks, her brains? Unfortunately, we may never find out.

Ebony had just settled in her house after a long day at the office. She took her shoes off by the door and let her long dark hair out of its bun, her emerald colored eyes dull with exhaustion. "Ah, home at last...Gideon? You home?" Ebony called out to the house, wondering if her boyfriend was home yet. There was no reply. "Guess not." She mumbled under her breath as she continued further into the house.

Outside, it was dark, heavy clouds hung in the sky threatening rain. The only light on in the house was a lone lamp sitting on a coffee table in the living room, its soft yellow light illuminating the dark room. "What the..?" Ebony wondered to herself as she walked over to the lamp. "I don't remember leaving this on. Maybe Gideon is home? Or maybe he forgot to turn it off earlier.." She glanced around for any hint that someone else was in the home. A chill seemed to be hanging in the air, a sense of unease crawled up Ebony's spine. It seemed as if Death, himself, was in the house, waiting around every corner. She paused listening intently for any sound hinting that someone was in the house with her, she heard nothing but the wind rushing outside. She walked out into the hallway, turned on another light and began to walk upstairs to Gideon's and her bedroom. She got to the top of the stairs and saw the bedroom door was cracked, a pale beam of yellow light shining through it. Once again she froze, the feeling of anxiety seized her and her instinct told her to turn and run. "Gideon?" She said, barely above a whisper. She walked over slowly, her footsteps creaking softly on the old wood flooring and pulled open the door.

She froze in fear and horror. Gideon and a half dressed woman lay on the floor in a puddle of blood. Gideon, shot in the head, sat on the floor, leaning back against the bed with wide brown eyes, his once handsome face covered in red. The woman shot in the back twice, laying on the ground on her side. The girl's face was barely visible through her blonde mist of hair that covered her face, but Ebony could see her bright blue eyes wide with terror. Blood was still dripping from Gideon's head, down onto his half unbuttoned shirt. "Oh my God! What the hell!" She rushed to approach Gideon and the girl, not thinking anything else about the situation. Hoping that maybe there'd still be a pulse, maybe she could still save them. She was cut off by a man's voice behind her. "I thought she was you.. No one else was supposed to die." Ebony twirled around in time to see a man right behind her, clad in black. "Guess I should've paid closer attention before bursting in and shooting both of them.." His voice was low and meticulous, it rumbled through her. The dull light from the hallway illuminating behind him but making it impossible to make out his features. "Though, I suppose this will just help cover it up more." He approached, his tall, broad form engulfing the dim light from the hallway, his gloved hand pulled a gun up and placed the barrel against her chest. Everything happened so slowly but quickly at the same time, Ebony froze in shock and fear, she couldn't move a muscle as she stared at the man's face, covered in a black mask. Her blood was ice rushing through her veins, her whole body shaking in fear. Finally, willing herself to do something, she took a step back and managed to scream just as the sound of a shot rang in her ears.
