Chapter 26 - 26 - Take

"What do we do now?"

The first guy said to the second. The second couldn't look at him neither could the first at the second. They were tied with their backs to each other. The first could only see what was going on at his front as well as the second.

On top of that, they were locked in a wooden cage with sharp pegs reaching from every turn. Trying to turn let alone escape wasn't an option for them.

Surrounding them in an open part of the forest with super tall and huge trees were many of the Manganis and Hava.

Hava by the apes had been treated royally and made to seem more like their king. That made the two wondered if truly the Hava had been on their part these long or had been a spy of the Manganis.

None of the two had an idea what they would do, they only were observing.

The codes of the apes were quite remote for them to make a meaning of.

It's like giving a binary combination to a creche pupil. More like suicide mission decked with mazes and ambiguities.

Hava seemed to be communicating with them. He understood their sign languages and that put the two of them more in danger.

The routine for that day was quite different. There was less of dancing and gibbering and hopping. Something seemed to had happened in the midst of the apes.

The fuckers really seemed very serious.

Though their facial expressions on a normal day always gave them out serious but twas pretty much different that day.

Sooner did the two notice three of the heftiest amongst the pack carrying one of their guards on their shoulders.

He was dead.

None of the two knew what killed the ape but what was obvious was the fact that the remaining were not pleased.

They dropped the ape and began to pay their homage to him.

Each ape would come and touch the nose of the deceased.

It was childish but that seemed like their custom. The two had no idea what that meant.

Then one of the apes tapped another one which was close to Hava, who was seated on an elevated spot as what was close to being thier leader.

The ape who was tapped began to advance toward the cage where the two were locked in the midst of the gathering.

But before he could take two more haughty steps forward, the Hava holla at him and he stopped.

Hava jumped off the elevated spot and walked towards the ape. He tapped him three times on his back.

The ape grunted but turned back and returned to where he used to be.

Then Hava walked to the cage and let it open.

He fiddled with the locks of the pegs which changed the formation and made the two fall out without being hurt.

Then he untied the two and told them to go. Run for their lives.

They doubted his orders in the first place but one of the apes approached and kicked one of them.

The other would avoid that of course.

They stood up and fell many times on their way out of the pack.

As they tried to find their balance and run quickly away before the apes would change their minds, they wondered what had come over the apes and whether or not Hava was helping them.

As soon as they were far from the pack, they began to hear hue and cry.

"Not all of them approved of it."

The eldest of the two said.

"Then let's run and hide as well as we could do then."

The other said as they kept running away.
