Chapter 4 - Don't call me mother when we are outside

Today, Kim Hyejin received gifts from her grandparents.

They gave gifts to her when she came to greet them.

Hyejin was happier to receive gifts from her grandfather than from her grandmother. This is because her grandfather was strict and rarely interacted with her.

He always had this unapproachable stance, and that usually scared her away from him.

So receiving a gift from him was the greatest surprise to her.

As the gifts were much for her little frame to carry, Hyejin left the gifts in the living room to go and meet her mother, after thanking her grandparents.

"Mama.....mama!." Hyejin called as she banged the door with her chubby palms.

Since the door was closed, and she was too little for her hands to reach the door handle, she had no choice but to hit it with her palms.

"Why do you look so happy?." Park Hayoon asked after she opened the door for her.

"Grandpa and grandma gave me birthday presents." Little Hyejin replied happily.

"Really?." Park Hayoon asked, quite shocked that her father would react that way.

Little Hyejin nodded in response.

"Where are their gifts?." Park Hayoon asked when she didn't see her with anything.

"Oh! I left them in the living room. I can't get them by myself." Little Hyejin said as she had a hard time staring at her mother from that height.

Park Hayoon squat once she noticed her discomfort.

"Hope you said thanks to grandpa and grandma?."

"Yes, I did," Hyejin replied cheerfully.

"Good girl, let's go and get your gifts." Park Hayoon said to her as she held her arm and led her to the living room.

Approaching the living room, Park Hayoon first peeped. When she didn't see her father, she walked into the living room with confidence.

"Are you looking for me?." A manly voice said from the side.

Park Hayoon froze in her steps when she recognized the voice and saw the person in question.

That was her father, Mr. Park Ha-Jun. He was sitting in the dining room.

Because of the structure of their house, she couldn't have seen him from that angle.

When she recovered from the shock, she greeted him and went on to say, "I came to get Hyejin's gifts."

After saying her piece, she gathered the presents on the table and walked away with her tails in-between her legs.

She even forgot about her daughter.

When she came into her room, she sighed in relief as she sat down on her bed.

It when she heard the knocks on the door that she remembered she left her daughter behind.

Little Hyejin looked annoyed for being abandoned.

Park Hayoon pacified her with an apology.

Park Hayoon then wondered how her father knew she was on the lookout for him.

But the truth of the matter is that her father has long known that she was scared of seeing him face to face, and was always avoiding him.

An hour later, Kim Hyejin was all dressed up in a pink princess dress.

The little girls looked so beautiful, and anyone that saw her smile would be charmed by it.

"Mama, I don't want this style of hair. I don't want these two piggy tails." Little Hyejin complained.

Park Hayoon looked troubled after this statement.

"What style of hair do you want now? You've been carrying this style, and you like it, what happened now?."

"I am three years old now! I am a little adult." Little Hyejin replied as she looked at herself in the mirror.

"What a little adult indeed." Park Hayoon said softly before asking her to choose the hairstyle she wanted from the pictures on her phone.

Luckily for her, Hyejin chose a simple hairstyle, so they didn't waste more time in the room.

Park Hayoon was dressed in simple outfits of white trousers and a sleeveless top.

At the breakfast table, longevity noodles were served.

"Thank you, grandma." Little Hyejin said to her grandmother before picking up her fork to attempt eating, but her mother stopped her.

"Jenny holds on, I will feed you myself."

"No! I am three years old now, I can feed myself." Little Hyejin said with a frown.

Park Hayoon could feel her temples start to throb.

"Yes you can feed yourself, but you will stain your dress in the process. Don't you want to look beautiful today?." Park Hayoon reminded her kindly.

Only then did Hyejin allow her to feed her.

"Your father said he would be back early to join in Hyejin's birthday celebration." Park Mun-Hee said to her daughter.

"Okay. Mother, please help me to set the place for Hyejin's birthday. I will try to come back on time to help you out." Park Hayoon said to her.

"It's alright go ahead."

"Hyejin make sure to have loads of fun today." Park Mun-Hee said to her granddaughter.

"Bye, grandma." Hyejin waved at her grandmother as her mother lifted her.

Park Hayoon first took Hyejin to the studio to take a few pictures.

Next, she took her to an Ice Cream store.

The mother and daughter relaxed before they journeyed to the children's Park.

But before then, Kim Hyejin changed out of her outfit at the studio, after taking pictures.

So right now, she was on trousers and a pretty pink top.

With her sunglasses over her eyes, Park Hayoon carried Kim Hyejin in her arms and went to buy tickets.

After buying the tickets they were now able to go for any ride of their choice.

"Mama, I want to ride that one!." Little Hyejin screened from her arms as she pointed at the Ferris wheel.

"Shh." Park Hayoon shushed her.

"Don't call me Mama when we are outside, call me pretty Aunt." She instructed with a serious look on her face.

"But you are my mama." Little Hyejin said in confusion.

The little girl was confused as to why her mother didn't want her to call her by that name.

"Yes, I am your mama, but you don't have to call me that when we are outside." Park Hayoon said, sounding more serious.

"Alright!." Little Hyejin said in agreement.

"Try calling me pretty Aunt." Park Hayoon instructed her.

"Pretty Aunt." Kim Hyejin said in her cute voice.
