'Huh? I thought Sobo Onee-San was Kousaki's best and closest friend like a sister.' Daiken thought but never said anything.
"Growing up neither of us had a proper parental figure to look after us. Anee-San didn't have a mother…" Shiro began.
It was after a long pause. Most of his life was drained from his face making his already white porcelain face paler. This scared and made Daiken feel sad for Kousaki. Since Shiro looked as if he was still searching for the right words, Souichi gestured to hold Kousaki's hand as emotional support. Taking his hand Shiro gave a small, weak smile. Souichi noticed that his hand was freezing and it pained Daiken to see his friend and crush having such a hard time.
"Thank you, Ichi." Shirogane said, taking a deep breath. "Just like me and Anee-San, mother was hurting too. It was because of that hurt and pain, she made a lot of mistakes."
Daiken never uttered a word; he sat there quietly and observed Kousaki.
"'In every human, they must always have a balance of emotions. If even one of them increases by a very tiny percentage, we would collapse.' That is what my grandmother always told me." Kousaki explained without going straight to the point.
"I never had a father. Mother never spoke of anyone who would have my other half of the chromosomes in my body. Mother never really liked me. The man who was my father probably hurt her a lot. She never smiled around me. She looked after me well but with no emotion."
'Poor guy. I really wanna give him a huggggggg' Daiken screamed inside his mind.
"Then one day all of a sudden, the person I would call Anee-San in the future and another man often visited us. Whenever he came mother was overjoyed. Now that I think about it, she probably was in love with him. They would go on dates and late walks in the night together. I was very happy that I could see mother's smiling face again. I may have been envious and felt hatred towards that man but seeing her smile made it all vanish." Shirogane said, reminiscing on how his mother's face looked when she smiled.
"But then one day…" Kousaki trailed off. He put his head in his hands.
"Hey, it's ok, don't force it. I'm always here for you. OK?" Souichi said in a soft voice and rubbed Kousaki's back.
"Daiken… Will Onee-San be ok?" He sobbed inside his hands. "I don't want to lose another precious person to me."
"She will be fine. Don't worry." He replied, continuing to comfort the poor shivering boy. "Do you want to stay here? Or wanna grab a drink?" Daiken offered.
"Thank you Daiken."
"You are welcome. I want you to rely on me okai?" Souichi said mimicking one of the cartoon characters that Shirogane liked as a child.
"It's… It's Leroy's voice." Kousaki gasped and shot his head up in happiness.
"Hehe yuuuup . Did you like it?" Daiken said in relief that the other boy is now starting to smile a little more. "Now I see what probably made your father fall for your mother."
"Huh? Did you say something?" Shirogane asked, taking his phone out.
"Nope, nothing."
'He probably doesn't remember. It's fine, it's been a long time since then. I'll give him some time. It would be awesome if he does remember though.'
"Ok?"
"If I may ask, who was that doctor whom you hugged earlier?" Daiken asked, trying not to sound jealous with the fact that another man hugged Shiro.
"Ahhh, he is my mother's brother. He looked after me and Anee-San for a while when we were kids before we went to live with gramma." Kousaki answered while typing something on his phone.
"Wonder what Kunimichi and Kenichi think. We suddenly left like that." Daiken said, rubbing his nape.
"Daiken! Shirogane!" a familiar voice shouted.
Amidst the large crowd of people that were walking on the streets, Daiken saw Kunimichi standing on top of a bench. Regardless of whether people were staring, he kept waving his hands and shouting out their names while Kenichi kept trying to make him stop.
"Kousaki wanna go there to save Kenichi before he dies of embarrassment?" Daiken said, pointing in their direction.
"Hehe, of course. My poor Kouhai has to be rescued!" Shirogane chuckled as he joined Daiken who was about to walk to them.
'Love is always unpredictable and that is very scary to me. I have to be able to predict everything to a certain degree if I want to get comfortable with it. I have never been able to do that when it comes to love.'
As the two boys were noticed, Kunimichi got down from the bench and followed Kenichi to meet Daiken and Shirogane.
"Heya lovebirds, both of ya ran away so me and Ken brought your clothes with us." Kunimichi said as Kenichi handed the suits over to Daiken and Shiro.
"Wha- No- Daiken and I aren't-" Shiro stuttered.
Kenichi unintentionally cut him off.
"Usually if this were a movie the pair runs away to an airport or dockings by the sea but you two ran away to the hospital, a unique couple," Kenichi said in his soft voice.
"Kekeke Me and Shirogane aren't in that kind of relationship," Daiken said trying his best to remain calm.
'What the heck kunimichiiiiiiiiii!!!! Shuuuuuutttt uuuupppppp' He internally screamed.
"A-Anyway thanks for the suits. Wanna go eat somewhere?" Shirogane said changing the topic because of flustering.
"Sure, I'm hungry. It's noon already."
They all agreed on a ramen restaurant that Daiken said had great views given by his uncle Fujiwara. The four of them spoke about random stuff while they walked but whenever they kept reverting back to the topic of love Shirogane did his best to redirect or change the topic. When they arrived at the restaurant Kenichi and Shiorgane went to look for seats while Daiken and Kunimichi followed them behind.
"So what do you guys want?" Kunimichi said as they sat down near the large window.
"Gyoza for me." Shirogane said as he sat across Kenichi.
"Nira itame," Kenichi said, taking out his PSP.
"Ok, then uh… I'll take….. Katai Yakisoba." Kunimichi said, turning to Daiken, who was staring really hard at the menu.
"Hm…. I like Wakame ramen…." Daiken replied after a long stare.
"Then it's Gyoza, Nira itame, Katai yakisoba and Wakame ramen. Daiken, come help me carry everything." Kunimichi said, dragging Daiken away from the table.
"Hello, What can I get for you two today?" The lady at the counter said with a big smile.
"Hi, yes. We would like a Gyoza, Nira itame, Katai yakisoba and Wakame ramen." Kunimichi said giving their orders.
"I'll pay half." Daiken said to the other boy.
"Nah, it's fine. Ken's paying anyway." Kunimichi replied. "He said so because he owes me or something."
"Then I owe him now," Daiken said, chuckling.
"Hey, Daiken? Do you like anyone?" Kunimichi asked as they walked back to their seats.
"Wha- I- uh- I guess?" Daiken answered flustered.
"You guess?"
"I don't know. I mean I don't want to go there. I never experienced it nor do I want to. First comes studies. I have to look after my siblings which is more important." Daiken rambled on about taking care of his family.
"Ahhh… I see now. You are afraid to fall in love."
