Chapter 3 - Chapter 1 Mistaken Identity

I knew the day was shot when I woke up dead on the dripping wet grass. But lets rewind five minutes backward. Five minutes back to when I was alive. Back when I was begging my life to be spared. To the day my life ended and the old me along with it.

" Come on, Phil. Give it back." Derek demanded.

" Or what twirp? You gonna nag at me to again?" Roughly standing over Derek with a textbook above his head a tall masculine boy with short black hair and a blue, white sleeved jacket towered over him.

" If don't give it back I'll-"

" You'll what, tell your little girlfriends mommy and send me to the principles office?" Phil was right. His best friend Lily could get him out of this . Boy if she knew the type of torture he went through every morning she'd try and stop it, but considering the fact the she was Phil's girlfriend he'd probably make up some lame excuse of how they where just paling around. Yeah she'd buy into all that baloney for Phil's sake, before checking up on me. But then again jocks always got the cheerleaders with the hottest reputation. And Lily was no different. With beautiful blond hair and a slender hourglass figure she was perfect blend of poetry and gorgeousness. But with Phil always on the look out from any one looking to pick up on his girl he would gladly put some guys eye out just for staring. But that never stopped him. He and Lily were friends for life, it was something Phil himself couldn't understand. When she wasn't spending time with her boyfriend or Scarlet, she was spending her precious time nagging me to "Put down those awful vampire books, and grab a good pair of wolf stories. " to my distaste. But from where he stood Phil always looked pretty intimidating.

" Derek, you should be ashamed of yourself."

No, I can't die like this! I haven't done anything wrong to this maniac!

"P-Please. L-let me go. I'm not the guy your looking for." He could feel his skin turning cold, and his hands where being to turn blue. This is it; I'm leaving the world in the hands of a barbaric criminal. He might as well lock me up in a grave piled up with dirt, because that's where I'm headed. Why, oh, why did come this way instead of the usual one?

A warm deadly stench, toward his neck, snapped him out of his trance. The man hissed in his ears with fury.

"Endure the suffering sting of my little girl and wife as I finish you off swiftly. Let them hear you bellow in fear and agony. "

Swiftly the man eyes turned blood red. The pain that rebelled within his throat and body was starting to numb. His eyes where beginning to droop and he was starting to feel light headed as his body grew limp. "Please-" he whispered breathlessly. The man only placed his steely gaze at his victim

"Don't TOY with me boy! We both know very well you can't die!" but he was soon proved wrong, when the boy in his hands gasped his finale breath and stopped moving. "Clash, wake up. Don't you dare try and fool me." but the boy's legs continued to hang without movement. He eased the boy down with uncertainty.

"Clash!" he said lying the boy down on the wet grass.

"It's me Romulus. You can't die so stop faking it! "He felt for a pulse but none came. Cursing Romulus searched for the boys ID in his backpack. He had broken one of his key rules he had made law to the other vampires. Never kill a human on any terms. But this was a mistake. How was he to know that this wasn't Lucian's child? The boy looked just like him, and the real Clash had nerve to double cross him, right after he treated him like his own son. He knew his master's child would laugh his butt off at the case of mistaken identity. He'd rather be locked down in hell then be a murder. Romulus looked down at the lifeless carcass and placed a hand on his victim's chest. He could still a feel a faint heart beat fighting to stay alive. The mark of a true fighter. There was only one other option to save the boys life. "Derek Juniper, I hope this will make amends for the wrongs I've done." He sent a bolt of lighting through Juniper, who gasped in anguish before collapsing back into unconsciousness. Romulus knew it wasn't enough to save him, and that he only had one option. Romulus coldly drew out his steel dagger and graded it deeply against his palm. His scarlet blood trickled along his arm, as long drawn lines curved its way down his arm. Without a word he drew opens the Derek's mouth and squashed every drop of blood he had down his breathless mouth. Turned his head to expose his neck before sank his cold fangs through drinking immensely. Slowly Derek's cold blue skin began to transform into pale white. Romulus wiped the blood away from his lips and waits patiently for Derek to awaken. It had been a long time since he tasted human blood, he could hardly control himself not to drain Derek, but determined to rule over the animal inside him. He had learned for over centuries that the animals within does not always win. Suddenly with a jolt Derek shot up gasping for air, as his life is drawn back to him. Everything seems as the way it should be as Derek winces in pain as he feels the throbbing sore at the side of his neck. Looking up he sees Romulus and quickly tries to scurry away. From Derek's view point, his murder was obviously taller then he expected him to be. Supposedly, six foot seven with short curly dark locks of hair one strand of hair stood alone over his left. His slender eyebrows overcast-ted his medium brown eyes. His lightly shaven stash highlighted his well groomed manner of hair that ran from the side of his cheeks and met his chin. His lower mouth was a light pink partnered with an upper lip with a slightly darker tint to it. He knelled in apologetic reverence to Derek. "My name is Romulus and I beg a thousand pardons to you Derek Juniper. I have violated at scared rule of a covenant I made and I humbly ask for your forgiveness." Derek stared in awe at the man called Romulus. What was he suppose to say. Thank you sir for killing and saving my life when I'm pretty sure I'm suppose to be dead. But not wanting to insult him Derek just nodded his head frightful agreement. Romulus raised his head in amazement and smirked before he stood up to approach Derek. "In Roman times if they found you guilty then they would torture you until you died."

'That's ...great. But I ugh, better am going home now. " Derek started to run but goes limp when Romulus catches him by the shoulder.

" Sir Juniper"

"Um you can just call me Derek."

"Well, Derek, I am please to inform you that you are now a Civato vampire."

"The difference being?"

"You have certain rules to follow and certain obligations that require you to harness your newfound ability. Consider it a gift from all of us.''

He joked but seeing Derek look more scared then humorous he continued.

"I will train you the skills that are needed to survive the new world you have now unlocked and your newfound craving for human essence, but-" Romulus leaned down and met Derek at eye level. "The rest is up to you."
