The next day, we had a pep rally which I really hate, it was so freaking crowded with every student in the gym. When I entered the gym, our teacher guided us to the bleachers and of course I had to sit by Connor. Can my life become any worse, then again I guess this is good, because
--FLASHBACK--
"RIIINNNGGG" ugh who could be calling me this early in the morning, bad guys aren't even up yet. I reached for my phone and almost got blinded by the brightness of the screen. The freaking sun isn't even up yet, it was like 3 in the morning. Anyway, I answered the freaking call and heard the director of secret protection, a government law enforcement group I work at, kinda, I help with some investigations. We are very different from the other groups though, we work in secret and well, they hired me, a 16 year old girl, who still hasn't even finished high school. They work on protecting civilians in secret so they will not get scared, and, well, Connor was one of the many targets for a famous terrorist group we call, Muerte Grupo, which translates to Death Group in English. The Death Group has never been caught, and poses a major threat to many civilians. They are practically famous, for, well, all of their crimes. "HELLO" the director screamed at me, as I was daydreaming.
"W-w-what?" I asked. "You need to watch Connor Lake, as we heard that the Death Group is targeting him." I was so confused why they wanted him, but it was my job to protect him no matter what.
--END OF FLASHBACK--
I looked up at the vents, as that was a famous place of hiding for terrorists. Then I saw a pair of green eyes. I didn't want him to know I found him, until I figured out his goal, if they are going after Connor they might go after others too. During the pep-rally the guy never lifted his eyes off of Connor which means his only goal was Connor. He lifted his hand and I could see a smoke bomb. Crap I thought to myself as I tried to figure out how to stop it. Then it hit me. I had a bandana in my bag, I rummaged through my bag until I found it. I gave it to Connor and said it was a way to cheer on the students who were performing, he then wrapped it around his neck. I asked if I could go to the restroom, so I could see if there were any more terrorists outside, I looked through the window and saw nobody, good. I walked back in and enjoyed the final part of the music. Before the choir could start singing, the guy dropped the bomb, and everyone started to cough and pass out. I quickly pulled Connor's bandana up to cover his mouth and nose and told him to follow me. Without hesitation he followed me out of the gym and out to the parking lot. I then got on my motorcycle and told him to get on. Within a second we were racing down the streets. When we reached my apartment I told him to come in, and he did. He sat on the couch as I started to make lemonade, as I knew that was his favorite drink it was in his profile. I gave him a cup of lemonade and asked if he had any questions. While he was drinking his lemonade I explained the circumstances.
"A few" he responded,
"shoot" I replied.
"One, why did you really give me the bandana?" he asked as he motioned at the bandana at his neck.
"I saw the guy with the bomb in the vents and gave you it just in case, and I was right, so you're welcome for saving your life" I replied instantly. I grabbed a book from the coffee table drawer and gave it to him. "What is this?" he asked as he accepted the book.
"Places to stay, don't worry your parents know and are OK with it, they can visit you anytime and you can visit them anytime" I told him as I grabbed the empty cups and threw them in the sink.
"Whoa there is a mansion!" he yelled.
"Ya, most people choose that one." I replied calmly.
"So are you gonna like... watch me like a babysitter." He asked as he flipped through the pages.
"Pretty much, I will live with you in one of these houses and there are cameras in every single room, so don't think about running away." I said as I sat next to him.
"OK, are there cameras in the bathroom too?" He asked worried.
"Yes, but we do not watch them unless we really have to, like somebody tries to sneak in or OUT through the bathroom." I answered. "OK" he said.
"Everyone has a choice, but decisions you make can and will be influenced by others. You have a choice, you can stay with me in one of these houses, and I promise you will be safe, or you can go home, and could possibly be in extreme danger and will most likely die." I said completely calm, I did do this many times before but many of them were old rich guys, scared of losing their power.
"How are you so freaking calm!" He yelled. "This happens a lot, and when I say a lot, I mean a lot." I replied.
"So have you chosen which house you like best?" I asked.
"Ya I would like the simple 2 story family home." He replied.
"OK let's get going I already got some stuff at the house." I said as we walked out of my apartment and got into my truck.
"We're here." I said as we pulled up to a brick 2 story house with a good size backyard with a pool and a trampoline. He rushed up the steps to the front door and tried to open it but failed. "IT'S LOCKED!!! UGHH" he yelled.
"Here" I said as I threw him the keys. He opened it and rushed inside and stopped to take in the beautiful house. You enter in the open plan living room, which is connected to the kitchen, but separated by a bar, The kitchen then leads to a dining room, with a door to the backyard. To your left you see an office and a staircase. When you go up the stairs you see a gaming area, and a hall to your left. The first door to your right is Connor's room, it is a master bedroom, with a bathroom included. The first door to your left is the weapons room, You can not get in without the key, the doors, walls, and windows, are all bulletproof, bomb proof, rocket proof, and anything else proof. The second door on your right is the guest room for other friends that stay over. The next room over is the guest bathroom. The second door on the left side is my room, it is also a master bedroom with a bathroom, walk-in closet, and balcony. He went straight to his room and started changing it slightly to make him feel more comfortable, I guess. He came down and asked
"Who's cooking?"
"Me" I responded as I got out some pans. "I'm making grilled chicken for lunch." I said as I turned on the oven. I sat down to let the oven heat up.
"There are some rules, though." I said as he sat next to me.
"OK" he responded and motioned for me to continue.
"One, never ever leave this house without me.
Two, always tell me where you are going, and I will join you.
Three, never ever under any circumstances enter my room without my direct consent.
Four, you will tell no one about this, NO ONE, or I will have to end their life.
Five, you still will live your life like normal, go to school, eat, sleep, etc.
Six, I am fine with going anywhere that is still in the city.
Seven, you can have some friends over, but you better keep them under control, if they enter my room, or the weapons room, I will kill them with no hesitation.
Eight, before you do anything you must complete your homework, no exceptions, you still need to do good at school.
Nine, always carry a weapon with you, the weapon room is your first room to your left.
Ten, do have friends over for projects, sleepovers, parties, hangouts, etc. You still need to socialize.
Eleven, when I say to not do something, or stay away from something, you will listen, it will most likely be a life or death thing, for me to restrict your life." I explained.
"OK" he simply said and rushed off to his room. I finished the chicken and told him to come down for dinner. He came down and we sat at the dining table and ate.
"There is this summer break party tonight, and I wanted to go, is that OK?" he asked quietly, as if he was afraid.
"Ya, that is fine, like I said you can go anywhere within the city, as long as I am with you. And you don't need to be afraid of me, I will not hurt you, I am the good guy unless you break the rules, then I will be your worst nightmare" I replied, as I gave him a smile.
