As Stell's hand swept down, Kade tried to tell him to stop, but it was too late. His hand swept down at an angle, and the vibrating blade barely cut a hair's width in the rock in front of him, and then the sword disappeared. Stell gasped and was sweating. He was about to turn when a thunderclap sounded from the chasm.
"Run!" Kade screamed.
We both began to move, but the ground behind Stell suddenly started to fall away and crumble into the chasm. The hairline that Stell cut had caused the side of the chasm to slip away, and as Stell tried to run, more of the area underneath himself began to fall. I racked my mind for something that would help, and a rope was the first to come to mind.
"Grass rope!"
I threw my hand up and pulled on the forces of growth, summoning up magic, calling the image to my mind. The magic came to me and formed in my hand. I could hear the magic stream into my palm in a rushing melody.
Instantly, a bright green rope shot from my hand and toward Stell. Stell notices the rope coming towards him. Instead of panicking, he touched himself and spoke barely audible.
"Cyclone."
Instantly, Stell stopped falling as intense winds spun under and around him. Then he barely grabbed the rope in time while coating his hand in metal. It had reached him just as the wind started. The wind was stabilizing him, but he looked exhausted and running out of magic.
I quickly pulled him toward me and ran to him when he could crawl up the ledge. Stell was lucky to use the wind to catch himself before he fell too far. Without the wind, even both Kade and I couldn't have pulled him up.
Both of us ran to Stell as he laid down on his back panting.
Another thunderclap sounded, and Meso appeared opening, pages were flipping as I ran over to Stell. I reached over instinctually and caught Kade as her once running body had decided to take a nap mid-action. This kind of thing couldn't be helped until Kade got stronger and taken a couple more thunder mind claps.
"Copy the spells! Force Summon and Enchant Self!' -Meso.
The quills on our arms lit up, and I laid down Kade. Meso hovered over Stell's face as he signed the book still lying down. Once done, Meso flew towards me, and I peeled the quill off my arm, this was always a strange experience every time.
Once finished writing down Force Summon, The book lit up with a codex of the information under the words. It was showing the limits and things that could be summoned in this world. Before I could read more, Meso slammed shut.
"Hey, what the big idea? How am I supposed to learn if I can't read what appeared?"
If a book could smile, Meso would be grinning ear to ear.
'Your reading speed is that of a five-year-old, and you have to reread things. Useless. Instead, we have a faster way.' -Meso.
The way Meso said the last part gave me an ominous impression. Something told me inside that things were not looking good for my immediate future. I would be hardly surprised to see the sky fall, at this point.
Before I could interject, my mind was struck with searing pain. I dropped to the ground beside Stell and clutched my head, groaning and about ready to puke from the pain. Stell had also begun to groan, and he was slowly getting louder.
To say my head was on fire was such an understatement. Lava coursed through my blood vessels, and it felt like hot needles were being driven into my brain. That was a more accurate description of the overwhelming pain I experienced. When the pain finally stopped, I opened my eyes to Kade.
"What happened?" Stell asked between gasps.
"Info, Meso said I couldn't read, so he had another way," I said as my voice trailed off.
I knew it all, limits, usage, types, and even the restrictions on this planet. The pain that had just burned my mind was gone as if it had never been there. Stell's eyes opened wider as well, letting me know he got it too. Before I could say, more Kade cut in.
"You big olf," Kade scowled Stell as she stood over top of his head, staring down at him. "You didn't let me finish explaining. You have to be careful with the extended blade. It cut smoothly and is very precise if it is used very slow. On the other hand, if you swing it at any speed, the vibrations' waves are sent in that direction. They move terrifyingly fast and often make the thunder clapping. I could have never imagined you could make such a long blade.."
"What does the blade length have to do with it?" I asked while trying to peak over the edge.
The sun shone done, and below I could see the pile of rubble. That was an extremely close call, and I wouldn't want to go through that ordeal anytime soon! I also noticed the same hairline Stell had made was cut into the floor below; that vibration magic was really something else!
"The blade opaqueness and length determine the skill level and power. The blade I showed you can still be seen through, and I have been training with this type of magic for a long time. My mentor could make a slightly better one than me, but I have never seen someone do what you did, Stell. It doesn't make sense. You used your finger to make a three-foot blade the first time using it. Your finger! Then you cut no one knows how far into the ground with a single casual swipe. That's crazy, and I can make it go out five feet, ten if I swing hard. What are you two?" Kade asked as she finally ran out of air.
