Josh took a breath before announcing. "Huh, there was a situation that occurred. That I was just informed about."
John stopped in his tracks to leave. And Cory looked at him with hardly any emotion but he asked sarcastically annoyed. "What another courting couple has the chance of conceiving an unborn?"
"Well, we have a couple of cases but..." Josh paused, taking a sigh. "This is far worse."
Cory cocked his head at Josh. Then he got out of his seat and walked around the island bar to Josh, standing somewhat in front of me. "Worst as in?" Cory queried as he folded his arms just underneath his chest.
Josh loudly sighed. "It's the boys from our kingdom."
"What about the boys?" Cory asked, more annoyed.
Josh took an even bigger breath. "Sean and most of his hooligan buddies went to a neutral ring ball court and played a game with the Baron of the West boys. To my knowledge, a fight broke out with the Baron's, boys, and our boys over the game and over the girls from our Kingdom. I was told when the fight broke out, our Kingdom girls and the Baron's girls got hurt and most of them were severely injured..."
"What!" Cory shouts, interpreting Josh. "You gotta be kidding me here! Those boys in my Kingdom should know matter!"
"This is Sean and his buddies you're talking about," Aaron reminded Cory.
"It only gets worse," Josh warned to see Cory was already getting super red in the face.
"How much worse can it get," Aaron commented like he was dumbfounded.
As Josh answered, wanting to bite his tongue."The Baron's sixteen-year-old daughter to his one wife is one of the girls who got severely injured during the fight."
I was alarmed to see Cory turning flaming mad upon hearing that. Even John looked to turn a ripe red on his face. So much for keeping Cory on the mellow side. Now Cory looks as if his head was about to explode. Certainly, Abby and Maria were right about Cory's temper. Note to self, don't get on Cory's bad side.
I watched nervously as Cory
inhaled a huge deep breath. Then he let out an exhale while rolling his eyes and turned his head to the window. Indeed, he was showing to be beyond frustrated. From in the chair, Nick leaned forward to place his elbows on his knees.
"Well this could start a war between us," said Nick, seeming shocked and worried.
"Especially if our boys hurt the Baron's daughter," Jay added as he walked away from the bar to stand next to Cory.
Aaron sighed with his statement. "The Baron of the west are neither enemies nor our allies. This could go in either direction."
Cory took in another breath and let it out, nodding in agreement. "Yup, it very well could. I suppose I'll need to make a call to the Baron and set up a meeting to speak with him tomorrow. In the meantime, I want a list of all the boys involved and who did what. Then I need to know which girls got hurt from our kingdom and the Baron's. Once I get details, these guilty boys will be severely punished."
"Oh, I'd say so," said Aaron. "This is a serious issue they caused."
Cory nodded and walked himself back behind the bar and poured himself a drink that went up to the brim.
"Don't tell me Jake was involved!" John asked stridently. "He left to hang out with Sean."
"I couldn't tell you, John." Josh truthfully said, "I was only informed by Mike and he told me Cory needed to know what was going on."
John retorted with great anger. "Jake better hope he wasn't or else I am going to have to kill him myself!"
"You honestly don't think he'd be involved?" Maria questioned if son Jake would do such a thing.
"Maria, if Jake is part of the cause of this predicament. Then he will be punished personally by me and you will have no say in any of it." John said in a dour voice.
This was the first time I've ever seen John get snippy at Maria. Normally, he's so sweet and loving toward her. I could tell Maria was thrown-off by it but she silences herself from overstepping any boundaries with John.
What is wrong with men today? Even the guys patrolling around here got a little mean. They didn't seem to want us outside. Now Cory gave the order that none of us women are allowed outside. Maybe it's better they do work and train like Abby told me earlier.
Honestly, I don't think the men know what to do with themselves if they're just standing around doing nothing. I thought in a more humorous notion to myself. Although I do understand that the boys need correction. It's shocking to hear that they hurt the girls over some dispute with Baron Society boys.
After Cory chugged down his drink, he started talking. "Don't stress about it, John. I'll get the details soon. Then I'll be talking with all the boys' and girls' fathers. In the meantime, go spend time with your wife."
John nodded and walked out the door holding his wife's hand. Following them out, Josh also left the room.
Cory spoke again as he walked out from around the bar looking at Jay, Nick, and Aaron. "I'll be back once I am done making these calls." Nick, Jay, and Aaron give him an ok kinda gesture. "Do me a favor and watch Sally. Make sure some giant land octopus doesn't try to take her out the window."
Did Cory seriously just crack a joke about me? I inwardly questioned while men in the room chuckled with Aaron, Jay, and Nick.
"She'll be fine," Aaron reassured him. "Will make sure she stays out of trouble."
"Yeah, I'll make sure Aaron or Jay gets taken by the giant land octopus instead of Sally." Nick even jokes.
Seriously! I haven't gotten myself into that much trouble! Sure I run into scavengers, was attacked by some Pegasuses, slammed into Aaron from meeting Beast, almost kill myself from going down a steep hill, got my foot stuck on some coral rock, and now I come face to face with a lioness. Ok. Maybe I am becoming a magnet for trouble.
"Just do what you need to do," Jay said çhuckling. "I'm sure Sally can go ten minutes without finding herself into some form of trouble."
Ugh! This is so embarrassing!
