The men continued to chuckle at Jay's humorous remark to reassure Cory.
Unexpectedly on my behalf, Cory turned towards me with a gentle expression. He leaned down and kissed my cheek.
"I'll be back once I am done taking care of a few things," Cory said, utterly so sweet to me before he left.
Which yes, I was mystified by his sudden change in his attitude. Hardly a moment ago he turned red with outrage. Surely I felt he was about to go off like a bomb. Now his charming appeal made me blush rosy red. I couldn't help but shimmer a light smile at him just before he took his leave to do what he set off to do.
With all my might, I had to fight back the urge to hold the same cheek he had kissed. Gosh, I felt like such a teenage girl getting her first kiss. Uh, I shouldn't feel like this but I couldn't help too not like that warm tender kiss he gave me. Adding that with the fact he acted so sweet with me. Ugh, if only I could smack my forehead right now like I did yesterday before we left for the falls. Then again that was rather embarrassing. Perhaps, this is a hopeful sign that he won't act moody with me like how he's been acting with his men, Abby, and Maria. Or maybe I am being wishful thinking to even try to be hopeful. After all, Cory is a Primary King.
From in the chair, Aaron stared at me asking." What's on your mind there Sally, seems like you're thinking something?"
"What is up with all you guys today?" I asked not sharing what I was fully thinking. "A lot of you guys seem to be on edge, especially Cory. He seems to be acting more stern with the men and he's gotten snippy with Abby and Maria."
They all chuckled as Aaron replied. "The men want their day off without the hackle of watching over the women. And Cory has a lot of things piling up on him right now. Adding that with this new bond he's set with you. It's causing him to be edgier. All of us are trying to keep him calm."
"Yeah, Abby mentioned that to me earlier," I said. "She said he's acting more irritable from having this bond. But I don't fully know what to think about it. He truly looked like he was about to snap."
Nick chuckled, "we are territorial Sally, especially when we connect a bond to a woman. Understand on Cory's behalf the bond is new and fresh. The process can trigger anger and he might be edgier. And like Aaron said, Cory has a lot going on as you could tell from the fight earlier in the morning. Then he just found out about this disturbance that the boys caused. To be honest with you, Cory hasn't snapped, he's been fairly mellow. Even if he does snap, that anger won't be directed at you. So there isn't any need for you to worry."
"Exactly," Jay added. "If Cory does break, to that snapping point we will handle him."
"Well that's comforting, it won't be on me," I breathed more easily. "I just wish he'd let me go outside. I wanted to get out and explore today instead of feeling trapped inside."
"You still want to go outside after your encounter with a lioness!" Jay chuckled amused.
"I'll admit that was scary but it's not like she hurt me," I clarified giggling and asked. "Was she the lone lioness you guys were telling me about?"
"Yup, that was her," Aaron replied. "She is oddly interesting looking and beautiful, I'd say."
"She was astounding and gorgeous," I shared. "But she did seem lonely in her eyes."
Nick said, "she is lonely, females like to be with their pride. However, if a lone male got outcasted from his pride. He'll find a lone lioness to make her his mate for them to make a new pride. For other outcasted lions to join. Then the strongest male will become the leader of the new pride."
"Do you think she may have found a mate?" I smiled asking, "and that's why she was being so aggressive with me?"
Jay kinda stood there shrugging his shoulders. "It's a good theory and it would explain why she behaved like that. However, there is one thing that doesn't back up that theory."
"And that would be..." I giggled asking in mid-pausing to wait for Jay to continue.
"No male came to protect her," Jay answered.
"It's probably better that there wasn't anything male antler lion," Aaron implied. "A male antler lion would be far worse to deal with. You guys would have been shredded if one showed up. There is a reason why nobody has been able to mind-link with them. As Cory mentioned it's too dangerous. Those male lions are far too strong and meaner."
Nick nodded in agreement. "It's such a shame too. I mean the wolf is a powerful creature but those felines are more powerful. They could give us a benefit during our battles with other rivals."
While the men all gestured to agree with Nick's statement. I rolled my eyes and had a different sense of heart.
"Don't Kingdom and Baron men ever stop your war! It's disgusting that you use these poor creatures for war. What our mortal ancestors did in the past to those poor creatures was bad enough. And to think over time your male Kind took the creature's immortality gene for you men to mutate yourselves stronger with it. Then back in that time, men purposely tampered with the women's mutations with a weaker gene strain. It was bad enough before that idea took place. That our Kind could hardly get pregnant from the outbreak of those plagues. The Maternity Bio Factories spared us in some ways when it was first used for adoptions to keep our numbers up. Until those dictating mortal hybrid men, submerged back during that time. Now even to this present time, those fertilizing factories are primarily used for soldiers and slavery. Even to this very day, our Kinds are divided up in these Societies. Where you Kingdom and Baron Kind rule all the galaxies. Unfortunately, we hybrid women have lost all rights because of how much weaker we developed before some of us gained immortality during that period. It's sad to think the Maternity Bio Factories was invented by a woman in the ancestry time. Until those hybrid men during our ancestry time overrun any achievement and inventions created by her or other females were turned into a profit for solely males. It all started with your Kingdoms and Baron's ruling. Our history is just sad to me."
The men looked at me with a surprise. As I kinda realize I sorta ranted off far too much. Perhaps it wasn't the best idea to do that. Seeing how they are Kingdom men.
