I had to seriously impede myself from outwardly laughing. To see Sally plod her way next to me. Yeah, to me it was cute and even cuter to feel she didn't want to. But at the same time, she was fighting what she was feeling between us. Today I do feel and see a disparity with Sally.
Yet I understand why she glued herself to me was because of the glares coming from the pureblood ladies around the room. I was very aggrieved to see them behaving like this. After we had grown up together. I even looked out for them. If any of them needed anything, I was always there for them. I treated them all like they were my sisters. Yet this is how they are going to treat my chosen bride?
However, I had to bite my tongue to stop myself from showing my authority. As much as I can't stand them mistreating Sally. This could also draw Sally into needing me more. Which will help the bond to grow faster and stronger with us. These women being rude to Sally could play to my benefit. Quite frankly, I like that notion.
Plus she is a Grand Duchess no female has ever been titled this legendary rank. She needs to learn to stand her ground to be that Grand Duchess Queen.
Besides, no harm will come to Sally. Since I know, unlike Rachel, these women won't dare touch her. They very well know I'd punish them. For now, I can act oblivious to it and see how things play out.
"Well, hopefully, you all who wanted a baby will find out you're expecting soon. And don't forget gentleman you'll need to hit the gym hard coming tomorrow." I told everyone that is married and didn't forget to remind my drained men about keeping their stamina up. Most of them chuckle from hearing me. Ian here looked like he was about to pass out in the chair.
"Yes sir," Ian replied and his eyes crossed to glance at Missy. "I'm just hoping my wife lets me sleep."
Most of the guys laughed and the wives beamed love at their worn-out husbands. But I think me and the single guys laughed louder. Such a debate between sex and sleep. You could tell the women weren't done but their husbands were beat tired. I could only wonder what it will be like between Sally and me once we are officially married. As the laughing gradually settled down. I saw a ton of ladies rolling their eyes at us from laughing. But they're used to our remarks plus most of the time we are far worse. Whenever it's only us men around.
I continued walking and Sally followed. And I went around the bar saying, "why don't you take a seat and I'll grab us food."
Sally giggled telling me. "It's fine, I can manage. I'm not helpless and I can take care of myself."
I almost died when she said that. And I should've expected she'd say something like this. Even though I just wanted to pamper her like a princess. That's why I wanted to cook for her and even offered to make her a plate. If it were Rachel or the other Princesses I courted. They would have let me. Of course, I didn't do things like this for them. But for Sally, I'd go inside a collapsing cave to get her the rarest gem from our planet. That doesn't even come close to explaining how much I loved her.
The men around the dining room laughed hysterically from hearing her. Yet I saw more of the women didn't appreciate it.
"Looks like you picked yourself a good role model as our future Primary Queen. Independence is a good quality to have with being Primary Queen." I heard Josh saying over the laughter.
I felt full pride for my bride as she came into the kitchen. I could see she was embarrassed since I knew she was only trying to make a statement. She wasn't expecting her statement would escalate into this.
"Yes, that is very true, Josh," I said, trying to help Sally feel less embarrassed. "Something that most princesses lack anymore. The women around here are way too spoiled."
Sally did a glance around and saw the men praise her and then she noticed most of the women got even more hateful toward her. She knew they felt insulted. Yet that wasn't her attention. She didn't think the men would respond to her comment as they did. I'm not used to having anyone willing to help me, she thought. She turned away again and started getting small amounts of food beside Cory.
Once we got our food. We both took a seat on the stools at the island bar and started eating. Mostly everybody else started to finish and then they headed on out. Once they were done cleaning. I could tell by Sally's body language. That she was more relaxed once the ladies left with their husbands. Now it was mostly my single men eating and chatting to one another. Other than the fact I knew she felt intimidated by my men, she seemed better.
Regardless, I still felt bad that she was this uncomfortable with the ladies. But again I had to tell myself I can't intervene yet to correct it. I wanted her to need me more and come to me about the situation. So far she hasn't therefore I am going to let this go for now.
"After we're done eating what would you like to do?" I asked her after chowing down a piece of bread.
Sally somewhat shrugged her shoulders asking. "I'm not sure, what did you have in mind?"
I could only chuckle at her for a second. Honestly, I didn't have anything in mind. More or less I was hoping she had an idea. Although she's a female I should've known better than to ask her.
Typically, I'm used to catching up on work during my two days off. I can be more relaxed and not worry about watching my back. But I wasn't about to tell Sally that. If she only knew how dangerous it was out there. The higher the rank the more dangerous it is.
When I was about to say something my phone buzzed. So I took it out of my pocket and read a message from Nick.
Oh, great! Of course, I was informed a Kingdom rule has been broken by adultery. Jeff missed up and out of all the women he's courting and during the time it's a higher conception chance. He just had to sleep with this one particular woman. The woman he slept with was the main concern. Over her getting pregnant was the least of all worry. This is definitely going to cause some drama today. Likely a fist fight might be brought out on this one.
"Is something wrong?" I heard Sally's sweet gentle voice ask me.
"Nope," I lied but it wasn't anything of real concern to share with her.
